This guy took my cowboy boots in .. I asked to get them shined and specifically asked for him not to paint them multiple times.. said he was going to go through them giving them a polish and a finish. When I got them back he completely painted the boot a new color. He even had the audacity to paint over the stitching " Ariat stitching" and it just looked like shit. I don't recommend going to him. He promised services he didn't give and when I got them back he even said he didn't have time to give them the "finish" and still charged me full price. Rudy, the owner runs a safe and humble location. This might not be your place if your not open to a multi cultural place. Rudy did an excellent job with my shoes. The pictures I have uploaded are a pair of Clark's I've owned for a while. He fixed the heel and added half outsole to the boot. I have taken these shoes to other cobblers that have told me they couldn't do much for me. Rudy made it happen. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars has to do with time of operation. I was really disappointed on the day I picked up my boots. Ruby butchered my new pair of boots UGG and still wanted me to pay him $65 for what services he did not measure up to do. He promised that my boots will be "kicked ass" when done, but NO, they were looking more like my dog has chewed them up and I was trying to mend them myself at home. This guy did not respect my "things" at all. He could just be honest and said that he couldn't fix it but instead he said " i could fix anything". Asked me to put down $20 so I did. Well, after i saw his handy man work, yes, no craftsmanship here, more like crap-manship, one generously should think that is how much he deserved if better not a penny more. What upsetting and disgusting to me are people being dishonest in their works, who talk way too much and don't deliver what they promised. read more

So let me start by saying that I have a large foot, when I come across a good pair of shoes that I love and would keep for as long as they look presentable, I do what I can to hang on to them. So this is the case with two pairs of the same shoes I brought to Rudy for repair. This was probably the 3rd or 4th time I had the heel replaced. By far, Rudy did the best job on these shoes and so much so that they look new! I wish I would have taken a before and after picture of his work, as I was truly impressed and satisfied. I love this guy, Rudy. He is a skilled craftsman that knows his shoes. He's a little more expensive than the guy at the mall, but if you don't mind paying for quality work, Rudy will get the job done. He repaired shoes of mine that the guy at the mall said he couldn't do. I live in Ventura and have spent plenty of time in this neighborhood (downtown Oxnard), which is perfectly safe, and delightfully historical. If you're rich and white and not use to being a racial or economic minority, you might not be comfortable here, but you certainly have nothing to fear. The proper address for the shop is 246 W Sixth St. in the back of the Vogue indoor swap meet. Enter in the back off the parking lot. There's also access from the produce market in the front, but the back is more direct. read more
