Pop's had always been a favorite. pulling our boat up to grab lunch on the go, or grabbing a chair and watch a game, while enjoying the friendly chatter around the bar. However, on a recent Saturday evening, we were sadly disappointed to watch some of the nonsense ongoing in the Tiki Bar, we expected a wait no problem, my husband went up to the Tiki bar to buy 2 drinks, there is a ramp that also goes up to Tiki bar, there were about 6 kids, sitting up on the rail trying to move around them was tough. Yet my biggest problem of the evening was I noticed kids maybe 21? walking around drinking out of 16oz Tervis glasses, I thought maybe Pop's started a new policy you could bring your own Tervis to have your drink made in, no, they were not Pop's Tervis bought in the gift shop, these were brought in, the 5-6 kids walking around with them were actually going down to their pontoon tied off on the dock, they were making drinks, then walking up to Tiki bar taking seats, space from paying customers, they obviously had 'bartender" friends working the bar as they sat at the bar drinking in front of them. As a partner in a bar for 30 years, I know the liquor laws, this was so blatantly illegal but not one employee said a word, nor asked them to leave, and yet they walked to all three bars with personal Tervis, again they went and poured another drink on their pontoon and walked all around Pop's. If this is the new Pop's then I guess we will pass. read more

Once again Pop's does it correct, and fun the whole evening. As they take no reservations, we checked in, said 65 minutes (this is spring break time) wait, they take your phone number and call you when table is ready. So that gave us some time to drive our niece, and great niece over the bridge down to the jetty, view a great sunset. We arrive back a little early for our table, finds some bar stools to grab a cocktail, Aaron? our bartender was wonderful, he informed ever so politely that you have to be 21 to sit at the bar, so Uncle got his Pina Colada, and great niece her virgin and took a walk down to the dock to see that, rounding out their walk with a tour thru Pop's store. The place was PACKED!!! Usually by 8:00 PM you can get a table fairly easy, however again Spring Break, it is just something you deal with or you stay home. Our server was great, she was attentive, good nature, but she was hustling. Food was great as usual, edamame salad is to die for, grilled fisherman platter was excellent, ahi tuna wrap with wasabi cole slaw A+, even little great niece who is almost 5, loved all he plate with tastes of all the food. I highly recommend the Ahi tuna wrap, conch fritters, best in Florida, lobster and shrimp bisque, grilled fisherman's platter. Everyone complimented on their meals, views of the boats cruising the inter coastal. read more

Wow. I e-mailed Pops 3 days before a Birthday occasion and requested to sit outside at a fire pit and asked someone please call me so I can secure arrangements. They ask for this information on their website where you're supposedly able to get someone to call you back. They never got back to me. When I asked to speak to managers about not getting back to me they acted like 1) I never used e-mail before, 2) they don't check it, 3) it was not sent to the right person, etc.....essentially blaming me for their lack of customer service. I show up there with my party and there's an hour and a half wait. We go to the bar and wait....only to be eventually shuffled to the back of the restaurant near the kitchen doors after the long wait and outside seating request. Someone in my party found a big piece of crumpled paper in their Mediterranean salad....Oh! That would entitle us to free dessert!! (Roll Eyes) I asked to speak to a manager about sitting outside and 3 of them blew me off inspite of tables outside being empty. Never again, and I'm a local. The only redeeming thing about Pops was Claire, our waitress. Food was mediocre too. read more

Came for dinner with a friend for my first time, even though I live locally. I ordered Mahi-mahi tacos and received the saddest looking tacos I have ever seen. You could see some fish in one of the two tacos, but the second one looked empty except for the lettuce and cheese (see picture). I asked the server if this was the standard amount of filling/ fish in the tacos they make. She had the kitchen correct the tacos and brought out new ones, which were normal. The new tacos were a 5/10 as far as taste of fish tacos goes, but at least they were filled. My friend had a salad and was also not impressed by the flavor, but we were very hungry so she ate it anyways. Considering how close this place is to my home and the beach, I wanted to like it. Unfortunately, I think it is one of those places where they sell you on the location and ambiance (on the water with a tiki vibe), but really screw you over on the quality of the food. They would rather sit toddlers at the bar with tattooed bikers claiming the kitchen is requesting the tables outside not be seated bc they are overwhelmed by food orders while simultaneously taking food orders from tables inside and seating only senior citizens and people looking to get wasted outside ( Um. I thought they were too busy to cook... then why take food orders from inside tables but not outside tables?). After the third cockroach scampered from the deck to the bar, we left. The waitress are great. The blatant hypocrisy and insult to intelligence is laughable. Location is great, but the hostess and seating is a waste of time. Just be honest and say families with children under 21 are unwelcome. Don't lie and waste the time of families ready to spend money and wanting to feed hungry children. ..just left there. The new Tiki thatch roof section is physically nice. I ordered a Bud Light. Gave her a $5 bill. Plastic cup. She never came back. When I caught her going by and asked her about the price she said "it actually cost $5.35. But, oh yeah, it's happy hour all day long" and gave me back $1.60. So the "happy hour price" is $3.40...for Bud Light...in a flimsy plastic cup. So, she forgot it was happy hour?? And if she did for real, wouldn't she have said I owe her $.35 more? Obviously trying to steal additional tip money from unsuspecting patrons. Plus the fact that if it wasn't happy hour, I would pay $5.35 for a plastic cup of bud light? The plate of beef Nachos was very good, but for $13, it should be. A real disappointment, I will not be back, and will share my experience with anyone who evens mentions local places to eat/drink. read more

Pop's Sunset Grill is one of those places you stumble upon and instantly love. The view is incredible - sitting right on the water, you feel like you're miles away from everything. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some good food and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised by the free drink samples! Such a nice touch. The drinks themselves were strong and tasty, just how I like 'em. And the little shop inside was full of cute stuff - I ended up grabbing a few souvenirs. We ordered the seafood boil and it was massive! So much food and it was all cooked perfectly. Seriously, it was one of the best seafood boils I've had. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it's worth the trouble for the amazing atmosphere. Overall, Pop's Sunset Grill is a must-visit. It's got that perfect laid-back vibe and the food is delicious. We had a fantastic time at Pop's Sunset Grill for brunch/lunch. The service was top-notch, and the view, as always, was stunning. We called ahead and were quickly seated upon arrival during Easter weekend, which was a nice touch. The drinks hit the spot. Now, onto the food - it was incredible. The prime rib brunch with eggs, hash browns, and Au jus was mouthwatering, and the lamb chops with potatoes and carrots were equally delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. Overall, Pop's Sunset Grill provided a wonderful dining experience that we'll remember for a long time. It's really too bad that a place with a great view of the water has such average food and service. We got the fired clam strips which were really tasteless. Being in the business I noticed all the breading "crumbs" in the bottom of my basket I knew they came right out of the freezer and into the fryer. Service was a bit slow but they were relatively busy. Just got the basic "hey folks what can I get ya?". Once the cool (not cold) beer was served and the food was down the bartender didn't acknowledge me until I signaled I was ready for the check. I could have had another beer or 2 because it was a beautiful day out but since no one asked I figured it was time to leave. read more

Pop's Restaurant is an absolute gem! The cozy atmosphere by the waterfront made for such a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. To top it off, our server, Jaxon, was phenomenal! They have just redone the outdoor areas of Pop's and it looks great. There are fire pits to sit near surrounded by palm trees and plantings. It feels very tropical. Stick to a burger and fries if you want to have the best experience at pops. They have great burgers, but most other things are just ok. I gave it 4 stars anyway because of the vacation feel that somehow is not touristy. Lots of locals go to Pop's, it has a nice water view of the river. They refill your drink quickly and usually the service is good and it is super casual. You go there right from the beach. read more

Lunch and dinner are always exceptional! Tonight we dined waterfront inside. New on the menu was Ahi Tuna Bowl, which was excellent. Perfect combination of sushi grade tuna, sushi rice, greens, scallions and cucumbers with two perfect dressings. Will definitely order this again. The new fish platter was cod with a new light, crisp batter and a choice of fries, edamame or slaw. Our waiter was very well versed in all the new menu items. Service was quick. Absolutely horrible service and bad food. The food was cold and no flavor. The service was horrendous. Our server never came to the table after our food was served to check to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. No one at the table ate the food and we where not asked why. On a positive note, the music was good and the atmosphere was good. I would not recommend going to dinner there but if you are just going for drinks and atmosphere it would be okay. read more

Pop's is great for the location and the outside bar but be ready to deal with bugs. Everytime I've sat at the outside bar, it involves fending off some ants. Of course it's an outside bar and with fruit in drinks, a bug here or there is to be expected. But I have been to others in the area that do not have the same problem. The food is good and the staff is very friendly but doesn't have WOW a factor. Having live music frequently would really set this place apart in the area. read more

$5 burgers on monday!! We try and make it for burger day at least once a month! These aren't "special" $5 burgers either....these are the standard menu full priced burgers cooked on their grill! They taste amazing! We normally eat at the bar but wherever you decide to pull up a chair here the food will be top notch and the service gets an 11 out of 10. We had a fantastic time! Sitting at a table right on the water we even spotted a dolphin! Our service was perfectly attentive and the food and drinks were delicious! They have live music every night but this night was ADJ and he played some really fun songs that we could all sing along to.
