This place was the best find for our vacation to Venice! I suggest calling to get a reservation because it's a small space. But the decor and the server gave us reasons to laugh and truly relax. It's a tossup for me the night we were there. There was only one waitress who is working very hard to meet everyone's needs, but they definitely need more help. This was a place that served comfort dishes with a motto of "eat, drink, and relax." There was a lot of Christmas decorations around, which was appropriate for the time of season. The service was greatly appreciated and the prices were reasonable. To start, we ordered the sausage bites ($9). We were also given bruschetta, compliments of the owner as my mother went to the same high school as him. There was also a plate of pretzels and celery with their homemade beer cheese. The sausage bites consisted of mild Italian sausage, grated cheese, bread crumbs, garlic, and onion. There were 6 present and they were very tasty. The bites were baked to perfection. I would have preferred a hot sausage used. The bruschetta was one of the best I ever had. The toasted Italian bread had cherry tomatoes, garlic, onions, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar on top. All ingredients and flavors were very fresh. For my entrée, I had the BBQ pulled pork pie ($16.95). It was made up of BBQ pulled pork, baked beans with bacon and corn topped with mashed potatoes along with cheddar cheese. This also came with a salad or soup. I went with a garden salad, no complaints or anything unusual about it. The pork dish came out piping hot. The dish as a whole was very appetizing. I thought there was a lack of pork, but other than that, I enjoyed it. They have desserts made daily. This particular evening, lemon cake was an option. It was unbelievable. The owner and staff KEPT returning to our table to tell us repeatedly that we had only until 7 the latest because they were going to be turning over the table to more reservations. .. The waitstaff was constantly clearing plates and asking us questions. Our food was decent! But again slightly off, this chicken breading was thick and the chicken was rubbery. Dim lighting too. One of our favorite restaurants in Venice. Small and cozy with a friendly staff. Food is traditional comfort food done very well. This is good comfort mood cooked to order so the wait can be a bit, but the complimentary pretzels and beer cheese are an excellent way to spend that time while chatting with your dining mate or sipping on a cocktail. Panko-crusted chicken? More like panko-BURIED chicken LOL. Once I scraped off the excess (see pile on left side of plate) to unearth the chicken, it was edible. Or I was hungry. Also, haven't had canned green beans in decades. Because GROSS. Or maybe they were just overcooked so the bacon would be well-done? My hubbie's salad (only keto-ish item he could find) was iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and cheese both from a bag, and a few small shrimp that had been defrosted just in time to serve. Is blue cheese dressing supposed to be hard? I should probably mention that we're health-concious foodies from central Jersey where there is a plethora of restaurants that serve fresh, whole foods that are tastefully prepared. This place is a throwback to growing up in the rural midwest. Ughhh.
