Environment is excellent - laid back on the water , the pier at sunset is perfect ! We had dolphins swimming next to shore as we ate service was great and the food was excellent ! Recommend if you're in the area!

Great pier to walk on right by Sharkey's
    Liz K.

Great views, mid food, fun drinks, super busy place. Let me start by saying that this is not my first time to Sharkey's or Fins for that matter... However, I must say that I was sadly disappointed at the table that they have at Sharkey's next to the stairs and right by the wait-staff station. The last thing people want to sit at is that table. (Of course that was the table that we were given and asked to be moved to a different spot). People don't come to a restaurant on the beach to sit by a bustling staircase and busy wait-staff station. They really need to get rid of that table altogether. There are so many wonderful views on the beach of the shoreline, or of the sunset and that table does not suffice. OK, rant over... The food is mid at Sharkey's but I'm not going there always for the food. It definitely fills the bill if you're looking for something seafood or something for everyone in your group. You would be hard-pressed to not find something on the menu. I love the choices, the cocktails are fantastic and the service is decent. Sometimes when I go to the bar area, I feel like they can't be bothered with people that just walk up off the beach to order a cocktail, but the frozen cocktails are so good that I just let that feeling pass. Always have the grouper if you're not sure what to get and you like fish since it's a staple in Florida. Remember, when you come to Sharkey's or Fin's, you come basically for the atmosphere, and you won't be disappointed, unless you get the table next to the stairs. Then you ask to be re-seated.

Food has always been good when we've come. Service is great. Said 10min wait to sit inside but was less. Server was nice and checked on us often. Great stop to refuel in the middle of shark teeth hunting.

My husband and I went to Sharky's for dinner while on our honeymoon, and unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the quality of the food. The Caesar salad was honestly one of the worst we've ever had. It was topped with shredded cheese, which was strange for a Caesar salad, and overall just wasn't good. The yellow rice very clearly tasted like it came from a bag and was extremely mushy, and my husband said his mashed potatoes were sticky and tasted like instant/artificial potatoes. What really surprised us was the drink pricing. We ordered one sweet tea and one unsweetened tea, and they were $7 each. For the prices and the location, we expected much better quality. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the more disappointing meals of our honeymoon.

I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating! The food was so fresh and delicious. Ask to sit outside for a beautiful view. We tried the shrimp and crab nachos as an appetizer. It was huge and sooo good. My husband got the Captain Sharky's Platter and I got the crab cake sandwich. Everything was perfect. The portion sizes are ridiculous and we left with a ton of leftovers. My son was also pleasantly surprised when he got a surprise popsicle after his meal. We loved Sharky's and can't wait for our next visit!

It's been a few years since my initial review, and after coming back, I think that maybe my last visit was just an "off day". We visited with a large group tonight, and not only was our food fresh and delicious, but we also had amazing service. I was hesitant to come back after my last visit, but we were blown away this time! We got starters - all of which we devoured. Our entrees were fantastic as well. Especially the grouper sandwich, the Aruba seafood, and the chicken sandwich. My Mom had the Ko Tao salad, and said she's never had a salad that delicious. We enjoyed our meal outside on the patio where we watched the beautiful sunset and listened to live music. What a treat.

First off, I love the atmosphere and service at Sharky's on the pier. After a day looking for shark teeth it's nice to get some good grub and rehydrate while in some A/C. Some of the prices on the menu fluctuate as Mahi and Grouper menu items are market price (minus some set menu items). Ordering was a quick process, and our food came to the table hot and within good time. My wife had a bowl with blackened grouper and enjoyed every bite. I got the grouper wrap myself, a popular menu item, and I thought it was good. It was missing a bit of an x-factor for me, I felt like it needed some more of the special sauce or would taste better with blackened grouper in place of the fried grouper, but that could be more of a preference thing.

First time here and we had a blast. Great drinks , reasonably priced... virgin drinks for the kids. The food was fresh and great. The location is the bomb right on the beach , right at the pier. Just an outstanding time

Walk up from the beach for drinks, or full service dining. Gluten Free options and very accommodating. It's super clean, lots of stalls in the ladies room. Terrific menu, good service, great view and beach vibe. Valet parking is a must because it's so bustling between the beach and the restaurant. Be patient, it's slow

    Great drinks!

This isn't a good review because I've learned my lesson there. However, you can't beat a $9 frozen drink on the beach! The tiki hut in back is a go-to every time I'm visiting grandma for a drink on the pier.

One of the best water/ocean views in the area. Vibes are fun here! The sunsets for dinner are amazing, we always ask to set up top for the views to see the pier and sunset. Downstairs has a lot of seating and good bar area. There is a gift shop and they also have a few vendors set up on the weekends like jewelry, etc, the times we have been, so far. Staff is always great, and they check up often. The food, it is a touristy place so the food is ok. I'd give food a 3.5. Stick with the seafood dishes. Good drinks. Overall - a fun place to go for lunch or dinner and a great place to take visitors.

Touristy? Yes Fun? Yes Tropical drinks? Yes Frozen drinks? Yes What can I say but this place is touristy but fun and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar outside looking at the ocean and chatting with the bartender. I ordered the Sahara Sunset, which is a mix of the Piña Colada and the Mango Bango. Can I just say how perfect it was to have that drink and a tiki hut on the water? The place is a must try and I'll be back here in a couple days to try the meals, but the menu looks phenomenal. This review is for the drink and the service at the outdoor tiki bar and I'm completely happy.

Nice place and ambiance/staff, with live music. But food is super expensive! $16 for the pictured onion rings which were not special in any way or beer battered. Artichoke lobster dip barely had any lobster and was just all cheese without much seasoning or gooeyness.

Sharky's On the Pier Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Sharky's On the Pier

We are looking to get together with friends somewhere waterfront in Venice tomorrow, but I'm worried the rock band that's the entertainment might make it hard to actually have conversation?

I wouldn't worry about that at all. We've been there dozens of times and noise has never been an issue and trust me my mother in law would let me know if it were haha!

    Are you dog friendly?

Not sure, we don't live here but it is indoor and outdoor - they may let you bring a pet. I would call them ahead of time. They are quite busy and close quarters with tables, so bringing a pet may not be an option.

Do you have a children's menu?

Yes they do! It has the usual kids stuff like chicken tenders and a burger.

    Is it dog friendly?

No, according to a pet owner that was turned away. This is what I read of a review online.

What is a good time to attend dinner?

A little before sunset however I do not recommend dinner there. It is geared for tourism and in my opinion the cuisine is mediocre. However it is a super spot for drinks and a sunset and maybe an appetizer. There is a restaurant called Finns on the…

Do you take reservations for lunch?

They do not take reservations except Mother's Day and easter

Do you sell gift cards? I have friends that winter in venice, florida and I would like to purchase a gift card for them.

Yes, you can purchase a Sharky's gift card and use it at Sharky's, Fins or Snook Haven.

What's the difference between sharkys and fins?

Fred couldn't be more incorrect, other than the two establishments having the same owners. Sharky's is the ground level restaurant. It's the more casual of the two. They have live music nightly (depending on the season) and an outdoor "tiki bar" (I…

First up - PARKING was awesome!!! we parked in their lot and had plenty of choices. yay. Second - When I had made a reservation for our special occasion I was asked "Inside or Outside" which I picked Inside. I was then ASKED "window table?" to which I happily confirmed yes that would be great. I then confirmed to my wife. 6PM, Inside, & Window seating. When I arrived I was quizzed if I had a reservation. Yes. Then I was asked did i want to dine Inside or Outside and I replied I had confirmed an Inside, window reservation. And he brought us to our inside aisle non-window table. When I asked why not a window as I confirmed - I was informed they only give them out when they are available and he can't guarantee it? I then asked "Why do you ask then when the reservation is made?" He just walked away. Probably not a good candidate for a public or customer facing role. As others have stated (and I in my first review) the staff and server experience here is highly variable. 1/10 Third - Our server was excellent and gregarious. we were seated well over 5 minutes until we able to tender a drink order, but then everything went very smoothly. The bus staff seems "nervous" and inexperienced, I had to ask twice for more water. The bread and butter was a little disappointing. one of the rolls was ok, the other either old, stale or did not sustain the heating process very well - inedible. There were two flatbread crackers in the basket as well. 3/10 Fourth - We both got a cup of seafood bisque soup. This was a smooth and flavorful soup. Chunks of seafood of various types and a little shot of sherry on the side to pour on. (my 10 year AA medal pushed it away - smile) 9/10 My wife ordered a Pompano special with scallops and the chef special vegetables and green beans. This was very substantive entree and she did bring half of it home. The fish was nicely prepared and properly cooked, the vegetables were cooked al dente and not just something on the plate - good job. The green beans so nice as a vegetarian / vegan plant based eater I am going to order them as my entree! 9/10 I ordered a shrimp cocktail as part of my main. I haven't had shrimp in a few years, and these were fairly decent. the cocktail sauce was disappointing as I am a Kelchner's horseradish and Heinz Chili Sauce kind of guy.... pink from the 50/50 mixture. The sauce here was a restaurant pack can of catsup and a splash of tabasco. yech. 5/10 Also as my main an Arugula Salad with Roasted Beets, NO goat cheese, Almonds, Honey-Citrus Vinaigrette, Raspberry Coulis. A VERY nice salad with an extremely fresh and beautiful collection of arugula lettuce, and the roasted yellow and purple beets were nicely cooked and prepared. The dressing was light and tasty and not some gloppy oil slick of goo. 10/10 Finally, our server brought us out a little keylime pie to commemorate our occasion, we were actually pretty full from the dinner and declined dessert but she brought this out and we took a few pictures!!! VERY nice touch!!! Thank you. I think the kitchen has improved over the last three reviews and last three or so years. The reservation and front desk and the service is variable and inconsistent, still. The communications and reservation situation is flawed - a reservation is between two parties - if we agree on something the expectation is we BOTH deliver (I arrive on time and pay, and the establishment seats and accommodates as per the expectation) Both should expect what was agreed to? Obviously this is all personnel and seasonally dependent here in Venice, FL, now that we enter the slow and less tourist oriented I think the employees and the patrons will be less wired and unpredictable. My wife and I have discussed a mid summer visit to the Crow's Nest - maybe for my birthday in August?

Our first table wobbled so badly that we asked to move to another nearby. The restaurant has a casual, no-frills Old Florida atmosphere. Plenty of fans kept the air moving in the heat. Our server took our drink and food orders promptly, but we later had to flag her down for refills and extra napkins. What We Ordered * Chef's Ceviche: Octopus with lime juice, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, olive oil, and avocado, served with tortilla chips. * Harbour Island Bahama Mama: A half-pound burger topped with pineapple, mozzarella, and teriyaki, served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. * Maine Lobster Roll: Lobster with tarragon aioli, mixed greens, and tomato on a brioche roll, served with a side salad. Food and Overall Experience The Chef's Ceviche was fresh but unremarkable, and the portion felt small. The burger, however, was excellent--cooked perfectly to medium-rare, with the pineapple adding a flavorful twist that elevated the dish. The coleslaw and lobster roll were both good, though neither stood out. The side salad was fresh and satisfying. Overall, the burger was the clear highlight of the meal.
