Nice free paper bag to carry my purchase hime in.

This is a very nice gift shop. I went to the store for the first time this week to look for stocking stuffers. I hit the mother load, lol, the store has everything you would want to put in a stocking and more! I really liked their retro candy. I bought yo-yos, bubblegum, lollipops, Burt, bees, and more. They have such a vast assortment of things. I will be back to the store time and time again for sure. My only wish is that I would've gone to the store before I finished my shopping! The store was very clean, bright, cheerful, and busy. They have one manned checkout station, and a self serve checkout station. I went through the self-serve, but the employee was very kind and came over and helped me bag my things because I had so many items. Excellent customer service! I highly recommend you visit.

This store just opened 17 days ago, according to the friendly salesperson. I think her name was Jill, and I apologize if I am incorrect. She was really great, and even took an item from me to put on the counter so I didn't have to carry it around. I had only grabbed a basket for shopping, since I had no idea what they had or what I would want. It turned out that they had a lot, and at great prices. They have fall decor, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, beauty supplies (including serum for $4), crafts, tech gadgets, and party supplies. I probably missed something in that last. Go there and check it out for yourself. It's a fun new find.

I have to be honest, Hobby Lobby is my zen place, my nirvana, my little slice of Heaven on earth…read moreevery time I enter their doors. As usual, my visit with my sister and niece the Saturday before Easter went well and lasted much longer than it should have because I always peruse every. single. aisle. (I might miss something if I don't-crafters, you know what I mean, right?!?) Anyway, our party headed up to the register, chatting away and laughing with one an other, having just a great time being present in the moment and looking forward to our upcoming holiday day with the family. Then, it happened: the cashier, who was clearly not having a good day, did nothing more than mumble my total when I checked out and then was downright nasty to my sister to the point that she asked her if she was ok as the girl scanned her purchases. The question seemed to exacerbate the bad mood, so we just walked away. She very obviously did NOT want to be there. Talk about a mood killer! I was so bothered by the interaction that I called the manager from the parking lot, who seemed pleasant on the surface but obviously just wanted me off the phone and seemed put out that he had to take a customer call. I told him what happened, explained that I'm sure she didn't really mean harm, but that he had a clearly upset employee in the most customer facing role in the store. I thought maybe if he knew, he'd want to do something else with her time while she was in such a bad state that day. I don't know what action he took, if any, but I did try to help. This was disappointing, but it won't stop me from going back into HL, which is one of my favorite places in the world. It definitely gave me pause and makes me wonder what she must have been going through that day to be in such a horrible mood. Also, I might check out the location in Georgetown, instead.

Kohl's - The main reason I visit Kohl's: Amazon Returns!

I've been a Kohl's customer for many, many years, but no longer. I doubt I will buy anything here…read moreagain. They so rarely had my size in Levis that I just stopped looking, anyway. I can go to the Levis website and order the exact pair I want in my size and they will be on my doorstep in a day or two. So why bother coming to Kohl's anymore? Amazon Returns. A few days ago, I was here for an Amazon return and they handed me a coupon for 20% off my purchase at Kohl's. So I thought I'd use it. In a nutshell, that 20% off coupon Amazon gives you is bullshit. Allow me to explain... I went to the area where all of the men's sportswear clothing used to be to discover that there wasn't much to choose from. There was a lot of Champion gear, but their track pants felt like burlap. Seriously. Burlap. Nevertheless, I found a nice pair of Under Armor joggers. Good enough. I also found a Yellowstone board game (a gift for my parents - they love the TV show - shush, don't tell'em I got'em that until after this Christmas). My wife got some bras. So three totally unrelated items: pants, bras, and board game. While checking out, however, we were informed that we wouldn't be getting 20% off of anything because the coupon wouldn't work for the things we wanted. It says it all right there, in that tiny font wording on the coupon that no naked eye can read, the giant list of everything in the store that the 20% doesn't apply to. After I took the coupon home and put it under my microscope so I could read it, I would venture to say that the 20% off coupon does not work for 95% of the stuff for sale within Kohl's. After paying a lot more than we thought we would have to pay for our stuff, we were walking out when I noticed that there was a second larger location for the rest of the men's sportswear on the other side of the registers, hidden behind all their Christmas stuff. Silly me! Why didn't I just look behind the mound of Christmas swag back where the women's clothes used to be for my men's pants?! This store sucks. Unless there are some big changes, I doubt Kohl's will be around much longer. This place continues to go downhill, year after year. I seriously doubt that putting a Sephora in the middle of the store will save them. I remember when Blockbuster Video tried to save themselves by having a Radio Shack outlet that sold a small selection of cords, batteries, adapters, etc. in some of their stores. That did not work out for either of them in the end, and I predict history repeating itself in the end with Kohl's (Sephora may survive, though). Hopefully, by the time Kohl's goes under Amazon will have a drone service available to pick up my returns in my driveway.

Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience with Rooms To Go. Before they arrived, I moved my large, rare, and expensive plants out of the way to make things easier. Somehow, they still managed to bend leaves on two plants and break another. That alone was frustrating. But it didn't stop there. They knocked over a cup in my kitchen--completely separate from the living room--spilling water everywhere. It soaked through an entire roll of paper towels and even got onto the arm of the sofa. The worst part? They didn't say a word. I discovered it after they had already left. To top it off, we purchased a $500 area rug with a rug pad. The delivery person laid it down, realized the pad was larger than the rug, and instead of fixing it, told me to cut it myself. Unprofessional, careless, and zero accountability. Lesson learned.

They once again offered me the opportunity to go back to the store, pay $250, and swap it out for something else. Instead, I called a handyman to come look at it and he was able to fix it less than an hour! Everything now lines up the way it should. I'm telling you, you need to avoid Rooms To Go at all costs! Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with and they kept trying to tell me that it was fixed every time a technician came out. I can't imagine all three technicians told them that it was fixed so it has to be customer service that's not telling the truth! Never again!
