I have to be honest, Hobby Lobby is my zen place, my nirvana, my little slice of Heaven on earth every time I enter their doors. As usual, my visit with my sister and niece the Saturday before Easter went well and lasted much longer than it should have because I always peruse every. single. aisle. (I might miss something if I don't-crafters, you know what I mean, right?!?) Anyway, our party headed up to the register, chatting away and laughing with one an other, having just a great time being present in the moment and looking forward to our upcoming holiday day with the family. Then, it happened: the cashier, who was clearly not having a good day, did nothing more than mumble my total when I checked out and then was downright nasty to my sister to the point that she asked her if she was ok as the girl scanned her purchases. The question seemed to exacerbate the bad mood, so we just walked away. She very obviously did NOT want to be there. Talk about a mood killer! I was so bothered by the interaction that I called the manager from the parking lot, who seemed pleasant on the surface but obviously just wanted me off the phone and seemed put out that he had to take a customer call. I told him what happened, explained that I'm sure she didn't really mean harm, but that he had a clearly upset employee in the most customer facing role in the store. I thought maybe if he knew, he'd want to do something else with her time while she was in such a bad state that day. I don't know what action he took, if any, but I did try to help. This was disappointing, but it won't stop me from going back into HL, which is one of my favorite places in the world. It definitely gave me pause and makes me wonder what she must have been going through that day to be in such a horrible mood. Also, I might check out the location in Georgetown, instead. read more

The layout of the stores is pretty much the same wherever you go and as always crammed full of every artistic and craft item imaginable. My favorite part of the store is the picture framing area. This is clearly the nicest hobby lobby I have ever been into, and I have been into Hobby lobby's in multiple states. It is bright and cheerful with product placement done very well. There are so many wonderful sales and so many wonderful things to buy! You can buy things for your hobbies, or you can buy gifts. You can buy things to decorate your home, including a Christmas tree! They have decorations for all year round. This is clearly a fabulous store! I look forward to coming back. They have a huge parking lot. The people who work here are very nice. Hoody Lobby the crack dealer for the craft minded person, the nic-nack junky, the home decorator on a budget, or anyone needing to dress things up a bit. I hate coming in this business because I get lost in the store for hours looking at all of the wonderful ideas, decor, and possibilities! The selection is fantastic, the cost is descent, and the quality is fair to good. I have literally run in for an item and hours later realized I have 3 carts full and I've spent a whole day in here! It can be extremely addictive too... the way they run sales every week in a different category. It keeps you coming back to see what's on sale next. This time My wife needed a few extra Vday decorations for my kids valentine boxes for school. I really had to fight myself to stay on task and not go wondering off to look at other things! At one point I actually found myself in the art section looking at pictures of superhero's and thinking which one would look good in which of my sons rooms... as I came out of my shopping daze I shook my head and got back on track! The staff there is so disrespectful. my husband and friend were picking up a few things for a project and our friend walked into the bathroom and left everything in the cart with my husband and the staff waited at the bathroom and when he came out got in his face and accused him of stealing a candy bar that was clearly still in the basket. we don't need to be treated this way based of someone's assumption that you don't "look right". if you wanna shop in peace go to Michael's. Well my wife loves this place, so sometimes I end up here with her. She does the hobby stuff, I do the lobby stuff. They will have one register open, one person working the floor and the manager who is not so nice. If your New Year's resolution is to have patience come here regularly and test your progress. I made homemade treats for my family this Christmas and needed wrapping supplies, boxes, ribbon and tissue. Bought all of the above for 12 people for under $38.00 and I didn't have a coupon. Yep, I like this place. I like the idea of making stuff. Much like Gary's wife, I like to start a project and then I am easily distracted. Hobby Lobby is the place to go if you want to dabble in anything creative. Their prices are right on par with Michael's and they offer great classes, too! I recently took their Basic Cake Decorating class and I really enjoyed it. I may sign up for the second class and learn how to make fondant flowers. I was able to use my new skill to decorate my daughter's birthday cake. It was a smash! read more

What can I say...I love Hobby Lobby! I am a crafter/artist type and this is one stop shopping for me most of the time. Occasionally I have to go elsewhere but that is not the norm. They have art supplies, craft supplies, sewing supplies, kids crafts...etc. I swear I am inspired to try something new every time I go there. I am very appreciative that the prices are so good also. They have sales all the time so I never pay full-price...usually at least half of what I purchase is on sale. This is especially appreciated since I make a lot of gifts and one of the reasons is because it is cheaper that way. My only complaint is that there are never enough aisles open so checkout takes forever. However, I try to go when I don't have to be somewhere else and then it doesn't matter. read more
