I tried 3 tamales today at about 9:30 am from the Tamalez On D Go truck and here is my review of…read moretheir Pork, Chicken and Pepper&Cheese tamales. --Size of tamales are not your typical Texas style taquito/flauta shape (round). These tamales are wider and similar to what you'd find in Southern California. Think of a wide wallet or about 3/4 the size of a typical cell phone. They are not overly big, but they are very different then your typical Texas tamal in that these are more square. --After removing the the foil, the smell of goodness was present and while unwrapping each one, the oil/grease was present on the corn husks and tamal which is a huge plus. The oil/grease was not excessive and is done just right. --All tamals were well filled and properly cooked. In no way shape or form were they dry nor were they being stingy with their fillings. Their filling of meat, cheese or peppers ran through most of the tamal which is the first thing I looked for and this was another huge plus. --Taste was delicious on all 3 and I loved the spiciness in the Pepper&Cheese tamal. I do wish the pork filling was more shredded like the chicken. --Price was $2.50 per tamale with a choice of separate sauce. I felt the 2.00 - 2.50 price range was fair and wished there was more of a discount when buying a dozen or more. --After driving home about 15 minutes, tamales were still hot as they were well wrapped and packaged. I opted not to take any sauce or additions because I am not use to eating tamals with those toppings and I wanted to review the tamales on their own. Overall Tamalez On D Go gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me and if they remain consistent, they should be the go-to spot for tamales in this area. Well done!"

I cannot say enough good things about the Tamales I had from Tamalez on D Go! The ratio of meat to…read moremasa was perfect and the masa melted in my mouth. On top of all of that, the owner is such a humble and kind man, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the product he sells and making it the best quality possible. I will absolutely order from them time and time again.

Ok, I wanted to love this place since he went to a building, but it was HORRIBLE! His taco truck is…read moresooooo amazing, but this was absolutely horrible. I took 1bite of my cheese enchilada and I don't know what they use to season their gravy, but horrible, and the cheese inside was not even melted. I got 2 crispy tacos, the tomato came as 2 pieces of a half, that was laid in the enchilada sauce, and 1 bite and the entire taco fell apart and I had to try to get a few bites with a fork, but 1 more bite and I was done. I left literally almost a whole plate of food. The taco meat tasted almost like Taco Bell. HORRIBLE! We got to know the owner when he had his truck outside of New Braunfels, and he's a super nice guy, but this... he miserably failed at his restaurant. My husband got carne guisada, ate 1 bite, and no more. He ate the rice and beans, and a tortilla, and he was done. So literally over $35 for 2 almost full plates to be left on the table. I wish I had taken pics but I was so mad, and ready to leave so I could actually go get something else to eat.

I will reheat and eat later. The portions were large and both of us took home leftovers. The service was good, no check brought to table, we waited and found out you just go to register to pay. The dining area is bright and follows the Mexican motif. No music playing which made conversation better. If we are in the area we may return.
