My new favorite ice cream shop in New Braunfels. That other ice cream place with an animal in its name let me down too many times. I'm glad I have a new goto that's way more enjoyable and satisfying. They are family-friendly. They let you sample all the flavors and not just two like other places. The flavors are fun and unique. My preferred pairing is the Taro with the Lavender Earl Grey. I sampled the Whiskey Caramel Cheesecake, Banana Pudding, & Pistachio. They had others such as Vietnamese Coffee, Cookies-n-Cream and two nondairy flavors to say the least. They even had beer floats! I don't understand how anyone could consume that. It's not for me but they have it. There aren't any places to sit other than four bar stools against the slim counter against the window so this is an in and out kind of place. There is a bench outside. So yum! I tried the following flavors: baklava, cookies and cream, chocolate, toffee coffee and a purple one which I think was ube. The lady was kind enough to let us do kid scoops with two flavors in each scoop which my daughter and I did. I've never had baklava gelato before and I'm a huge fan! It had giant chunks of baklava in it. The texture of the gelato was smooth and each flavor I tried wasn't too sweet. I liked that they had unique flavors I haven't found in other gelato shops. It's located on a street in downtown wedged between lots of shops, and has two benches outside where you can sit and eat. My rating reflects the service. We came here because I had researched ice cream shops with gluten free/vegan options. This shop was recommended. But when we asked the girl working about gf options she didn't seem to know or care. I asked if I could glance at the ingredient list to check to see if the sorbet was gluten free. She said she didn't have an ingredient list. She suggested scooping it and paying with the rest of my non-allergy kids orders and then she would check with her manager and confirm the sorbet was in fact gf. My celiac daughter sat there while her sisters ate ice cream and hers melted for 20 minutes. I asked the girl again if she had heard back from her manager. She had not, but she did have ingredient lists (which she had earlier lied about not existing). Then she gave me the list for a different flavor sorbet than what we had ordered. I finally gave up after a half hour, threw out my daughters melted sorbet and we left with her in tears. I don't expect any restaurant to cater to kids with allergies. But when certain allergy/eating preferences are advertised by a business, I usually find staff is much more helpful with confirming whether the food falls under that allergy friendly category, or not. This staff member not only lied and blew us off about the allergy, but was rude to all of the customers we watched come in and out. Even with great ice cream, I would never go back and be treated this way again. read more

Formerly OMGato which we loved and were sad to see close but happy that 2Tarts took over. They did a great job with the floors and overall remodel, even uncovering org of al brick wall. Our downtown area is growing quickly and whether you are a local or a tourist, this is the perfect place to stop for a cold treat! They have about 10 gelato flavored, including at least 2 sorbets to choose from. Flavors change daily. Don't look for plain flavors because they won't be found here! Fruity Pebbles, bourbon pecan, salted grapefruit sorbet, berries and cream, passion fruit and they also serve affogado. People are nice and let you sample anything.
