I had a very old, very heavy cast-iron tub refinished as part of a bathroom remodel vs replacement, and the initial refinish had some rough spots. Their QA manager Vinny didn't hesitate to reschedule follow-up application and buffing - hands-on involvement. The end result is a beautiful glossy white (heavy) tub that is just fantastic, and substantially less expensive than replacement. Great value and great service! read more

Highly recommended! I called for an estimate to restore an old steel / porcelain bath tub after receiving outrageous estimates to completely replace the tub from several bath restoration companies. The rep arrived within the window given and was very professional, providing a very fair price to repair a rust hole around the tub overflow drain and re-glaze the tub with free caulking and a non-skid surface. I signed a contract with no deposit required and scheduled a time to complete the project. On the day work was scheduled "Wilber" arrived right on time and did an amazing job. He was in and out in the 4 hours as originally estimated, worked very professionally the entire time, and the tub looked brand new when finished. I couldn't be happier with the look. They did an amazing job on a chipped old tub in Historic House . Looks brand new process was seamless.

I used these guys to restore my 80 year old tub several years ago and it is still gorgeous. They came back a few days after the restoration to fix a spot that was not completely covered by the original technician. (The spot was about the size of a nickel and had a bluish appearance). The repair to the blue spot was seamless and has never peeled up or anything in several years. The tub's finish is still shiny after scrubbing with SoftScrub every week for 3+ years. Unfortunately, I dropped something metal in the tub recently which did put two gouges in the finish :( One major benefit of having this done has been the sealing job they did where the caulk goes along the edge of the tub (where it meets the tile) is superb! read more

Grout work is terrible. I'm so disappointed that I chose this company to regrout my shower when they reglazed my tub. The grout lines are uneven all over and it discolors as soon as it gets wet. Some places not even replaced at all. Upon complaint, the area manager did an inspection and agreed, and sent the tech to have it redone. Now, it looks worse, as all the "touchups" are also uneven and do not change color when wet. I hate this company more and more everytime I shower and have to look at this poor workmanship that was twice as much as the other quotes I received. I thought I was paying for quality, but got a disaster. I wish I would have read the Yelp tip about reading the non recommended reviews, as I suspect mine will end up there too. read more

The quality of the work was also very unsatisfactory. The appearance of the completed work was uneven and I discovered the next day that the chemicals they used had permanently damaged my flooring. I was assured that fumes would not be an issue, however the chemical smells were so strong it took days to fumigate, making an already unpleasant experience even worse. Initial work was done well enough...however the owner/manager seems far too occupied with other goings on to be bothered to help fix a problem found a few days later (glass shower door was improperly hung, thus the door did not close properly and water got everywhere). Exceedingly poor customer service...I got a rather surly response when asking for an ETA to have the work corrected. Oddly enough my wife had a much easier time getting some assistance, maybe I sounded a bit upset on the phone? Someone was dispatched a few days later to get the door adjusted and closing properly, but was acting quite odd. Wanted to use us as a reference for a new job he was applying for?? I'm torn. Not sure if I want to give 3 or 4 stars. The quality of the work done was excellent, but the communication about price and status of a weeks long process could have been better. I would definitely use them again if I ever have a need for reglazing or tub restoration. Background: I started with an estimate for a simple in-home refinishing of my antique clawfoot tub. The estimate was for a job that would cost about $500. When they arrived to do the work, the man sent convinced me that I would get a much better result from dropping my tub off and having them work on the tub in their warehouse. Logistics: If you have a tub that you need to drop off, you're on your own. The company does not have referrals for Communication: After dropping off my tub, the only time that I heard from Porcelain Tub Restoration was when I myself called. The process of restoring the porcelain took over a month and not once did I get an email or call about the status of my tub. I was out of the country for 3 weeks and didn't expect to have received a call, but I would have greatly appreciated an email update or voicemail especially since the tub took longer than estimated. I was told that the job would take 3 weeks and it took about 4. Quote: I wish that I had asked for an updated quote in writing after I decided to change the type of service I was going to receive. But as I was about to travel, I didn't ask and I didn't receive one. For a service such as this, an update to my written quote should be automatic. As it was very little was done in writing. My verbal quote for the estimate was around $1200 -$1300 but because the work took longer the final price was nearly $2000. I understand that estimates aren't exact, but if I had been receiving updates on the status of the job and if I had received a clearly written quote with the hourly rate for the job stated, I wouldn't have had such sticker shock. The only written quote I had before the job started, was for $500, more than $1300 less than the final price. Again, I should have ensured a written quote before the work began to cover myself, but it still was a shock. Quality: I ended up with a custom color refinished tub (with gold feet!). The tub had a showroom finish and is really a show piece. My criticism of the logistics and communication should not take away from the quality of the work that is done. So I'm a fan of the quality of the work, but not a fan of the sticker shock, which could have been avoided with better communication on how pricing works. read more

We had PTR restore/paint the tile and tubs in two of our bathrooms. Jenny was very flexible and easy to work with on the phone as we needed to juggle the work with when our other contractor was going to be there to redo the floors and some other work. The quality of the work generally met my expectations and the rooms looked really good after completion. The only problem was the cleanup afterwards. The rooms were done by two different employees. The first one left overspray in several areas on the freshly painted walls adjacent to the tile and the bathroom door and left the room generally messy. When I brought this to their attention, the worker came out and corrected most of the problems. I did have to have the other contractor repaint a couple small areas where the PTR guy had pulled off some of the fresh paint. The second guy did a great job on the 2nd floor BR, including cleanup. But he left a bit of a mess curbside, with a powder, likely grout, spread on the curb, sidewalk and street gutter. Vinny did a good job of the clean up and, after a couple rains, it has mostly disappeared (I hope it doesn't cause problems for the Bay.) Overall, I recommend the quality of their work and, though there were issues, they owned them and corrected them when pointed out. read more

I was so happy & so lucky to find this company. We had a bathroom renovation, & the crew doing the installation used my brand new never used bathtub to clean their sharp metal tools! Unbelievable! I was shocked when i saw just how sloppy the work was, i think i could have tiled better myself. I normally just shower but when i took my first bath 2 tiles were pulled off the wall. I think it was something to do with the weight of the water and me in the tub plus the terrible workmanship. I reattached the tiles myself (1 was cracked). I googled the company a few minutes ago looking to write a review somewhere and i saw a couple stories about him and his wife. And now as i am writing this what do i see in the column on the right. We had a long term tenant leave a dripping bathtub faucet unreported for so long the hard water ate through the porcelain around our rental house bathtub drain and began rusting the cast iron tub. I called a couple of companies and Porcelain Tub Restorations was the only one I found who could replace the drain if necessary (thankfully it wasn't) and handle the repair. Vinny was at my house for an estimate within days and we were scheduled, work completed by the end of the week. So thankful as every day not on the market matters with a rental property! This company is fantastic. I had three tubs I wanted to restore, one with a color change. That one went from a 80's raspberry color to a nice off white bisque. You would never know the original color or that it was changed. A second tub the cleaned up so well it didn't need refinishing although the they said the would do whatever I wanted. It looked great and saved me money. The third tub was from the original white from 1945 and was so dis colored by my sons that I thought I needed a new tub.
