The absolute worst BBQ lunch ever…read more Went to the Rancho Guejito winery members' lunch yesterday. The wine was amazing, the band was amazing, the view from the property was amazing. What was not amazing was the food. First, there was no chicken or garlic bread on offer as per the menu. So two completely missing menu items. Second the Mac & Cheese was blander than beige. I'm talking less than zero flavor. Third, the slider buns were burnt to black on the cut side and the sliders were drier than dirt in the desert in august. Last, let's talk ribs. They were cooking Rancho Guejito beef ribs. Beef ribs need to be either slow-roasted for 6-8 hours with stem, or slow smoked for 10-12 hours: before being put on the bbq, because they are a very tough cut. As well, the silver skin on the bottom side of the ribs needs to be removed before cooking to guarantee tender ribs. They did not remove the silver skin either. These "caterers" in name only did none of the above. And like rank amateurs, They simply threw these beautiful 100% grass fed cattle ribs directly onto a pit barbecue and called them done. And done they were. They were the toughest, most difficult ribs I've ever tried to eat. It was like being Fred Flintstone gnawing on a brontosaurus rib! This was a Winery event, where people were dressed nicely, sipping wine, while enjoying a stellar view. No one wanted to be gnawing on a rib bone like post ice-age troglodytes! If BQQ is supposed to be their specialty, they failed. Because they could not even get the best ribs in San Diego county right. They absolutely ruined the most beautiful ribs by improper cooking technique. Plus two missing menu items, and some seriously lackluster sides. I wouldn't hire them to make a salad.

I'm sadly disappointed in my experience with Gringas catering.. especially because I have experienced this catering at a previous employer and thought so highly of it. First of all, the COMMUNICATION was horrible. So much to the point that not only leading up, but the day of my event I was so unsure that they would bring the right food or even show up...! Not a great feeling. I would email and get no response for days, sometimes weeks, and when I would call to confirm I would be told that I would get a response to my email and never ever did. I literally had to call the day of my event to make sure they were coming. Second, the PROFESSIONALISM was so poor... From the arrival, the gentleman was very nice to me, but he gave attitude to my husband when told to enter one side gate meant for vendors because there's a paved pathway, versus our brand new turf side entrance that had literally gotten laid down that day and is not meant for any heavy items to be rolled over for 3-6 weeks. Only because it was more convenient to enter that way, but again, we had told his crew to enter the side we discussed and our backyard is not that big. He literally argued with my husband, rolled his eyes, and gave attitude. We are the customers, how dare they! Additionally, after the crew left and I was able to unwind with some guests, MULTIPLE attendees shared their experience with me that the serving crew gave them attitude and were unpleasant. What an awful thing to hear! I was so embarrassed!! Third, the FOOD itself. Just okay.. Not what I remembered from years ago. No limes or guac, which I have now learned are necessary to enhance just okay food. Noted for the future. AND my package included quesadillas in which NO ONE was offered so I wasted money on that which sucks!! Not even cheese was offered, so what am I paying for? What a rip off...
