Buckboard catered my husband's 60th birthday party for about 40 people at an offsite location. The food was very close to perfect, and we got lots of compliments. Delivery was on time, and Raquel, our catering coordinator, was wonderful. Our only glitches were that the person who delivered our order didn't bring everything he was supposed to, so our wings didn't have the BBQ sauce we had ordered. He was also short on serving tools, but we were close to home, so a quick trip there fixed the problem. To her credit - Raquel was patient and willing to discuss all my concerns and worked with me to fix them after the event. There is nothing like being able to have a productive conversation to restore faith in a business! For me, the bottom line is that they were on time, and the food was great. From the pulled pork and mac & cheese to the peach cobbler, we got top reviews from all our guests. I'd be willing to cater another event with Buckboard in the future. read more

10 years ago Buckboard catered my sister's wedding and they did such a great job we used them for mine! Absolutely incredible service at a very competitive price point. We used them for food, rentals, and bartending and it was so convenient to have them handle so many different aspects of our event. Starting with our initial consultation, Amber met all our needs, responding promptly to our questions and immediately putting us at ease whenever we were worried about an aspect of the event. Day of staff were so helpful and kind. We could not have been happier with the service we received from Buckboard as the catering provider for our wedding. Right from the initial meeting Ashley, (Buckboard's sales manager) gave us a personalized introduction and very friendly tasting. It was clear from this initial interaction that she cared more about our experience and less about just becoming one of their customers. The food was/is absolutely delicious. Every single item was cooked perfectly, and it was clear from the initial tasting that their chefs and cooks take genuine pride in cooking high quality meals that do not come off as "mass produced" like a number of other caterers in the area. We have lost count of the number of guests who told us during and after the meal that it was by far the best food they've ever had at a wedding, and this is reflective of the company as a whole. Ashley and JP (the Chief Operating Officer) were both present during the planning process, and worked with us directly to determine a menu that would be both wonderful for the guests as well as within our budget. When dietary restrictions were presented, Ashley and her team made the accommodations easy and care free, and provided options that were also delicious. Ashley was amazing with accommodating our budget, going through the options, hosting the tasting and holding my hand through the process. I had people coming up to me all night telling me how great the food was. They were with communication throughout the process and even with our guests all night. They personally spoke to each guest with allergies and informed them of the best options to accommodate them. They even went out of their way to buy a new salad dressing for a guest with allergies during the event and gave her her own personal bottle to keep at her table. My coordination team was going to take care of cake cutting and our nacho bar but the Buckboard team insisted on taking it off of their hands and took a huge load off of their plates. The venue I worked with recommended using this catering company because we were on a budget. I was pleasantly surprised! The decor and food were excellent. Given the price we paid, I really wasn't expecting much; my work deals with another catering company that serves average-ish food so I was expecting about the same, more or less. Not these guys. The quality was amazing and honestly, I am not surprised the food cost much more. All my coworkers loved the food and our event ended up going super well. Not only that but Fadi and his team are super professional, flexible, and accommodating. I kept making these last minute changes and he was nothing but nice and understanding. He always kept me in the loop and followed up with me via cell phone before and during the event. Given my Type A personality, I really appreciated that. By the way, the tableware and linens were the icing on the cake. My coworkers and friends were so impressed with the set up. I just couldn't believe how nice everything looked!!! My only *minor* issue was the website CAPTCHA that you need to get through before you view the menu. Otherwise, everything was straightforward and easy to order. Plus, if you need to make any changes, you can always log in and add notes to your order. I love that. Totally worth using these guys. We worked with Crystal to customize our wedding menu at the Martin Johnson house in April 2018. Crystal was an absolutely pleasure to work with - extremely responsive by email and helped us come with creative options that melded my midwestern roots with my husband's south Florida upbringing. The result was a menu that our friends and family are still raving about today. That's ultimately why we went with Buckboard: the creativity, hardworking staff, delicious food, and amazing prices. We chose food stations placed around the MJ house and a plated salad course (burrata and watermelon - yum!) with a cobbler bar for dessert. One of our main course options was fish, which was actually moist and delicious (in contrast to most weddings and even every other caterer in San Diego we tried). You will not get Crystal at any other catering company, and she alone makes Buckboard stand out. She coordinated everything and made the day such a smooth process. It took away so much stress! For example, our ring bearer was a sleep-deprived 2-year-old who was melting down before the wedding. Crystal got him some watermelon and he calmed right down! Brilliant! The place might be hard to find, only because the street it's on (Padgett) has no street sign! But once you turn onto it, look for the white signs in front with the menu. Although it is a catering company, they are open Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm for lunch since there are so many surrounding businesses. Their Tri-Tip sandwich ($6) is tender and really good! I also heard a lot about their Mac & Cheese, so I got a side of it ($1 for about 2oz). It was $1.50 for two sides OR $2 for two sides and a drink (see picture). So I opted for the latter and got an additional side of chili and a soda. What is this I hear about Lobster Mac & Cheese?! I guess I've got to ask them about that next time, because I didn't see it on the menu. I wonder if it's only for catered events. The staff is also super super nice!
