I'll blame that on the politicians who relentlessly try to strangle the post office every year. Anyone with an IQ over 50 understands that our Post Office is a modern marvel. I was there this morning, and I make sure to arrive when they open and am taken first. My only issue is that on Tues, they leave Steve alone and there should be another person, as there is a longer wait. There are computers, DVDs and plenty of books, plus a small private room available for studying and tutoring. They have a printer and copier patrons can use for about five cents per copy and they have a fax service available at a slightly higher fee. They have book sales and also take donations.

This location is unfortunately the closest post office to my home. This was what I would call their "second chance," because I've had to walk out of here once before. After the employee (the same older male who didn't wait on me last time) finally finished with the customer he was helping when I arrived, a second customer approached with a small package. I don't know what the customer asked for, but there is not one thing a post office can do with a package that should take so long. I stood watching as the line grew all the way to the front door, no exaggeration. The employee was looking at his screen and occasionally typing for--I'm not kidding--between 5 and 10 minutes. My lunch hour ended while I was in line, and I gave it a few extra minutes, but he was still "assisting" that same customer, and finally, I had to leave. I had to drive to another post office, where the entire transaction took about a minute, and I was on my way back to my car.
