Pork nachos ( I got the bbq sauce on the side)

This, to me, is one of the best food trucks in Wilmington or anywhere. This is for sure some of the best bbq I have ever had. This is not Smithfield bbq. This is homemade, slow cooked, REAL bbq. Big chunks and blackened pieces. It tastes like what your uncle makes on the pig cooker. I have had the nachos multiple times now. Chips with a ton of bbq, macaroni and cheese, jalapeños, sour cream and sweet bbq sauce. It's enough for three people and it is EVERYTHING. Food comes out fast even with a line, the lady who takes your order is always so nice; but the food? The food steals the show. At my work, people wait for this food truck to arrive before they even get there. That is how good this truck is. Not to be mean, but they blow poor piggy's out of the water. No comparison. Do yourself a favor and hunt them down and then eat their delicious food.

Words cannot describe how delicious the bbq is from this food truck. I have tried everything from their brisket to a bacon brisket bbq burger. You can taste the smokey flavor and see the food being made on their grill. So you can know it's made fresh and prepared then and not before. Keep an eye out where they will be located but it's usually in front of the hardware store where you can park and walk to order. They have many sides to choose from. My favorite is the mac and cheese and red potato salad. The prices are great and the time to get your food is perfect for a quick on the go meal.

Brisket with Burnt Ends plate, with Mac n Cheese and Green Beans sides. Yumm!

Surf City is a Carolina BBQ joint but serves up other southern staples like fried fish and chicken. Unfortunately, I must share that due to hardships, the restaurant is closing on September 30, 2026. AMBIANCE Country vintage is the theme and it's quite homey. Dining at grandma's house. SERVICE Kristine or Kris was our servers name (hopefully I got the spelling right). She was incredible. When I say she was attentive and so down to earth, it truly made our experience wonderful. We felt so welcomed to come in and enjoy some good southern food.. FOOD I really wanted to order a seafood platter but unfortunately they were out of fried catfish and flounder so I pivoted to a different entree. - Complimentary hush puppy sticks with cool ranch: they were good. Subtly sweet, but the cool ranch balanced everything out. - Half rack of ribs: this was the entree I switched to. The pork ribs were huge, tender, and tasty. They fell right off the bone, and I really appreciated the firmness of the tendon while I cleaned my bones. I had two sides, yams and cole slaw. I enjoyed the yams more because they weren't overly sweet, and the chef really allowed the yams' natural flavors to shine. The cole slaw was tasty but nothing special. I prefer my slaw more chopped rather than big pieces. The vinegary Carolina BBQ sauce at the table was excellent. - Eggroll BBQ Pork: my SO ordered this special entree, and it was really good. Imagine a big, crispy eggroll filled with moist, tender shredded BBQ pork. It came with a really good dipping sauce, which was a mix of honey mustard and BBQ sauce. The two sides I chose were fried okra and Brunswick stew. Both were fresh and delicious. Since they're closing, the owners are selling decor and other items from the restaurant. I purchased a lovely replica of a pay phone from the late 1920s or early 1930s to take home. Additionally, the cashier was very friendly and helpful. If you've enjoyed the food here, please go support them a few more times before they close their doors. Or simply, browse and shop for some cute decor for your home.

Great counter service BBQ in the heart of Wilmington. It was our first visit, so the lovely lady at…read morethe counter explained the menu, how to order, her favs, etc. Very helpful if you are not sure what to get. We settled on brisket. My hubs got the brisket sandwich with side of Mac and cheese and side of green beans. I had the chopped brisket the comes with the sauce mixed in with a side of baked beans. Sides do have meat mixed in as well. But the portions were sizable and very good. No option for cornbread or a little pile of pickles with the sandwiches, but if you get a platter, it does come with cornbread. The place is covered with military and firefighter patches, photos, and downtown Manhattan pictures of the former World Trade Center. As a former NY'er, we appreciate the dedication to the first responders and military service people. It is why this restaurant got started. They donate to charities for veterans and first responders. We are grateful. Overall, good experience. When we arrived the restaurant was quiet, but once our food was ready, and we chose our seats, the line reached the door. It was very busy. We also took more time ordering so it was good we were there early before dinner rush on Tuesday. I will definitely return here. Very casual, good food, lots of sauces to try and they have a mission to help the military. 5 stars

I did not realize it until I got to my destination and opened up the to-go box. Perhaps, because I was one of the first customers of the day, this might have been leftover from the night before. Moist/fatty brisket should always be oozing with juice. Nope. The jalapeño cheddar sausage and collards were spot on. Restaurant staff were extremely pleasant.
