I took an antique ring in to be repaired. I was quoted around $270 for a resize & repair. The woman…read moreat the counter sized my finger, we decided on a size 6. I was called about 2 weeks later and told it was ready for pick up. I immediately went to try it on and it had not been resized. The woman at the counter had failed to write down any info on the resize. During this visit I was talked into going with a 6.5. I knew in my gut I should stick with a 6 but I went ahead with the 6.5. The man who owns the business said he could resize it while I wait. He started the work and would occasionally cuss in frustration - which is obviously concerning. I offered to come back later, he said there was no need he was almost finished. It took about 30 minutes The cost went up from the original quote as well. I put the ring on my finger before I left, but I was in a hurry at that point because I needed to get back to work. When I made it home, I put the ring on my finger and immediately realized it was 1. too big and 2. the tines (prongs / points that hold the stone in) were not symetrical. The ring needed them repaired which is why I had come in in the first place. 3 looked good and one was noticibly off-center.(see photo) I called to say I'd be bringing it back in but at this point I'm going to take it some place else to get the repairs done right. I did pick up a nice vintage Native American ring while I was there, they do have some beautiful jewelry available for sale, but I would not recommend for jewelry repairs.

Not only did they have one, but they offered to come to the den meeting and give the demonstration. That's when I met Annette & Bill - a very nice couple who were happy to donate their time & resources to give to our 5th graders a hands-on lesson about repairing/replacing a tire, and bicycle maintenance & upkeep. After the meeting, I also took my 25 year old mountain bike to them for a much needed tuneup before leading the Cub Scout 10 mile bike ride. They went above & beyond just a tune-up, fixing everything that needed repair - and in record time. They gave me back a bike that performed beautifully - just like when it was new! I was also pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the cost was for all the work they did on my bike! THANK YOU ANNETTE & BILL! We will definitely be back for hobby stuff & anytime we have a bike needing repair!

It's the only hardware store in town, but they don't act that way. The selection merchandise is always high quality and they usually have what I need. I've also had equipment repaired here and it's been such a great experience. Mike, the mechanic, was super helpful recently when I had my chainsaw repaired here. He even took me outside and did a refresher on how to run it efficiently and effectively. You just don't get that kind of service anywhere else. And I appreciate that. Chris, who is usually at the service desk is also super helpful. The cashier staff is always on point and friendly. It makes me grateful to have them in town.

However, when I went inside to retrieve my item, although I had my order and confirmation with me, they refused to release my order to me because I did not show them photo id. After working in the yard all day, I didn't have my wallet with me. The email they sent did not indicate it required photo id. The representative argued with me and told me "it says it somewhere on the website!" How disappointing to go to a local hardware store, where you want to be able to trust employee's opinions, yet they cannot apply common sense to a situation. Who else would have my order or confirmation number? Isn't that the whole point? Strict adherence to policies that are not clearly set forth ANYWHERE, particularly when it is not in the email that says "come get your order!" and provides a CONFIRMATION NUMBER, makes me doubt the common sense of the employee and the people telling him what to do. What a waste of my time! Next time I will just go to Lowe's where they will bring it outside to me, like everyone else is willing to do when you order online (WITHOUT ASKING ME FOR MY PHOTO ID!).

I arrived for my appointment, Carrie informed me I was 10 minutes late...very rudely in front of the other SVS staff and all the customers in the showroom.
