I turn my rental over about 4 months. Everything is going good. Finally no problem with the renter.

Stayed 10 years and it took forever for them to do anything. They kept increasing the rent each year. AC was broken during the summer and it was 3 weeks before they fixed it, Ezekiel sat in his chair just hanging out. anytime I went to the office he acted like he wasn't working there. Never answer the phone so you have to leave a message. They eventually closed the office so you had to make an appointment to get in to speak to. Along without answering the phone. Eventually Lorena called me back. She was the best. When I left they didn't have time to do a walk through. Waiting for my deposit it was over 1 month so I sent a note stating I would take them to court and 3 days later I received the entire 1500. I would have doubled the deposit read more

I wouldn't even give them a 1, if I could. My aunt has a lot of houses with this company and let me tell you something, THEY SUCK.! There is never any support for the lady that works there currently and my aunt can't ever get through to the corporate office, or even get a response. Word on the street from everyone in the community is the lady working there now, has been trying her heart out, but the communication breakdown between the managers that run this shit show down in Bakersfield, is absolutely unacceptable. It behoves me to think that a company can just come up there and buy a company out and then run it the way it's being run by the owner and the management down in Bakersfield. Back in 2014-2015, I came to Portfolio Properties homeless in Bakersfield searching for housing during my second pregnancy. At first, I was grateful to be placed in an apartment after surviving years of human trafficking through drug and sexual coercion exploitation abuse by individuals connected to my eldest son's paternal family, their associates, and third-party affiliates during homelessness to find a stable home while living with a disability caused by a car accident in 2008. I tried to take pride in my space and even upgraded the property by building a fence to safely enclose the backyard for my service dog. Not long after moving in, the ceiling in my kitchen began caving in from water damage. I reported it right away, but the situation was stressful and unsafe -- especially while pregnant. Around the same time, after I had finally regained my driver's license and purchased a vehicle, that vehicle was vandalized while parked at the property. Instead of taking any accountability or responsibility for what happened, or how frightening it felt to have my property damaged right outside my home, management told me to handle it myself. I was forced to file a vehicle insurance claim on my own just to get it repaired. Eventually, management did relocate me to another unit at a different complex. What should have been a time to focus on my health and pregnancy instead turned into constant worry about safety. I hope Portfolio Properties improves how they handle maintenance & tenant safety -- especially for surviving mothers with disabilities who are trying to rebuild their lives in difficult circumstances. read more

Portfolio property management company does not do a walk through with the tenant that is renting an apartment. They simply tell you to fill out their form of anything that is wrong with the apartment and to turn that in. That is also not for them to fix whatever issues the apartment has. Once you ask for them to fix an issue if they have to send someone that doesn't work with them in other words they contact a vendor and charge you for the inspection even if that issue was already there and was listed on the move in list. My boyfriend has had so many issues regarding this. And yes this is the property management company that deals with tenants as well not just brokerage and real estate as they are responding. Take your money elsewhere because this company will give you a headache after you sign the contract. read more

Very unprofessional! They said we can do a lease transfer and said all I needed to do was email them my information and as long as I make enough I can get the place, I asked if I needed to do a application and they told me no. but then they posted the property online after they told me they'll give it to me. I asked why they posted it if they said they was going to give to me and all of a sudden I had to do the application now. Ok I did that, they told me they'll have an for sure answer in 2 weeks. I give them a call 2 weeks later and they told me another 2 weeks. I heard that for another 2 weeks every time.. The man at the front desk (Ezekiel) kept telling me everything was good and I should be hearing somethin back in a few days, again never heard back from him so I called back a week later and he told me the same thing! He started to ignore my calls and everything. Pretty much after 3 months of them giving me the run around I called and they said all I needed a co-signer, so I got that so then he said he'll give me a answer that day and if not I'll hear from him the next, 3 days go by I call again wondering what's going on and Ezekiel said he was just waiting for an answer from his manger and he was gone contact her when we got off the phone and he will call me back. Never called back after 4 days later so I go up there to see what was the status. All of a sudden the email came in "10 minutes ago" and I got denied and they already moved on to the next person in line. He knew I was denied a week ago and was still telling me everything was good and he'll call me back soon. It's just the fact of the matter they had me waiting for 3 months telling me everything was good and I should be getting it, just to deny me last minute when the house was available for new tenants to move in. read more

Had a very unfortunate experience with this company. In 2 years we paid our rent 1 Day late, and got a negative rental reference. They overcharged us for our deposit and nickle and dimed us for the return deposit. They overcharged for everything, and kept the entire amount. Be careful of fraudulent charges. They also lied on the original posting of the house- saying it had solar panels when in fact they were never turned on. I wouldn't rent through here. read more

My sister recently rented a place from them at 1307 Eye Street back on November 1, 2019, and they talked a good game with her. I say that to say this, until you find yourself needing repair services then the game really begins and it's on. NO JOKES... No one ever gets back to you in a timely and professional manner. Mind you, this location is part of the Volunteer Center, which the apartment for rent sets above it. Therefore, they always mostly use volunteer people to service the repairs. The repair services are hardly completed on the spot and never done in a professional manner. My sister recently just vacated the property on May 31, 2020 due to having no working Air Conditioner because the Compressor has been broken the whole time living there. Can you believe the property management company have the nerves to have the place listed as new listing and available now for move in on their website, PORTFOLIO PROPERTIES? Wow!!! How soon and convenience is this. Again, mind you my sister just vacated the place on May 31, 2020 due to them not repairing the broken AC compressor. Everyone that lives in Bakersfield, CA knows that you can not live here without having some type of AC unit. Overall, the place can be really nice once all the repairs are properly completed. Please don't be fooled by the look because my sister freshly cleaned the place to move in ready. FYI, truth be told it's a million time cleaner than when she moved in. I was there with her. I strongly urge you to please don't get caught up with their false promises of them repairing things, Not so...
