This Portillo's that I went to was nasty. The tables were not wiped after a customer left. Every single table had either crumbs or wrappers. On the other hand, I get that it was 9pm on a Saturday, but the workers were hostile. I'm 11 years old, went up to the counter to order a sauce. Recently, I was at the Springfield Illinois Portillo's and I saw that they had a board where you can see the numbers come up instead of trying to listen for the person behind the counter. I thought that was a great idea and I think the Davenport Iowa restaurant needs that. Also, that Springfield restaurant had self-serve soda. I would love to see that installed in Davenport as well. It's not the best Chicago hot dog, but if you're craving a taste of chicago it does a decent job. The shakes remind me of Wendy's frostys, but still taste good. Went to a Quad Cities River Bandits game and they were giving out a "double play" coupon for a free sandwich when you buy a meal. Beef, dipped, sweet, and beyond full with small fries and drink. Great meal and well worth the wait as went at lunch on a Friday, but they worked quick to get orders out, and the woman who believe was in charge back there was awesome. Definitely worth the stop. I am reviewing the #5 Chopped Salad Comb today. This is only the second time eating hear and to be honest wasn't that impressed with them. The #5 Chopped Salads combo comes with a decent sized, a small hot portion of their sausage sandwich bread, and a the smaller size of their two drink sizes. The drink sizes are 16 and 32 oz. There roll is good, but really small and hardly usable as push for your fork, but it is maybe 3-4 small bits at best. The salad itself will it is his just hard to eat. The base lettuce is just shredded iceberg lettuce. The rest of the ingredients like bacon, pasta, onion, cheese, radish, and a few other things, but there all copped so small (1/4 inch size) that it makes actually picking a bite with your fork impossible. You have to spoon your bites. But to be honest I felt like was having to shovel the he thing in my mouth to eat it. Also, it did come with two 1 ounce portions of house dressing. It's barely enough to mix into the mix and coat it evenly. The service is well there. They were polite and courteous, but they missed details. Like the cashier not answering a couple simple questions without prompting, or the meal service window at the end of the indoor line who serves you telling you your order is ready, but then forgets to put half the order on the tray. The store was clean the rest was hot dog Americana. There is lot of old signage and local signs as well. A few autographed photos on the wall too. The also sell Beers domestic and Premium. There is also a patio setting area, a rotating walk through door, and drive thru as well. read more

This was my very first experience having an Italian Beef. We came specifically for it... guess what?! They didn't provide or suggest Au Ju sauce. We didn't know that you had to ask for it and assumed it came with it. So my first experience was slightly ruined. It was pretty good and very light. Service: Everyone was friendly, patient and professional. We were greeted upon entry. Food: was great. Ambiance: It's actually pretty cool in there. There's also history type info about the company, when they started, celebrities who have taken pix at various location, etc. There's a lot outside for your parking needs. With the sandwich, had a large order of fries and a soft drink with free refills. Ordered at one window and picked up the order at the other window. All was cooked fresh and took about five minutes to prepare. All the people working there were so nice to me. The place was busy at 3 PM on a weekday afternoon. The dining room was large and had a fifties theme. It included records, albums, pictures and posters on the wall. Also some of the signs from Portillo's in the 1950's were on the wall. All fifties and very early sixties rock and roll was played. Plenty of parking and the bathroom was clean. Satisfied with this place. Been eating Portillo's in Chicagoland for decades. This was a first time visit in Iowa and it didn't disappoint. May have even been the most accurate order and friendliest service in all my years. Because my jumbo hotdog request is always specific on toppings I want and those that I don't. They also honored my receipt from another location for a free large fry bc I did the survey. Another standout is their drive-thru. Very well managed dance, from woman outside taking the order to man in the drive handing out orders. They were very busy that afternoon and their flow of drive-thru traffic was well orchestrated. CAN NOT always be said about other Portillo's locations!. Davenport is lucky to have them! At the 20 minute mark I called the store. The employee who answered told me that crispy fries take longer because they are fried twice. The manager had an attitude and was not friendly.
