This place is operated out of his home. You drop off your cutlery and come back later to pick it it. He is in Bethany so very handy for me. I have been looking for knife sharpening better than William Sonoma since we moved back to Portland and have had a hard time finding a spot. I saw there was another location in Washington Square to sharpen knives and I decided I'd check it out. I read a lot of bad reviews but thought I'd give it a go. Stopped by on a Sunday and said "do you sharpen kitchen knives / repair?" (I have a shun 8 inch that had a large chunk out of it that multiple places refused to repair). The response I got was "Yes but let us follow up in regards to the repair / write your contact on this post it and we will follow up." Two weeks went by and I didn't have a message or note / call regarding an update. I decided to go stop in and lo and behold they were done including the major knife repair. This was a thin Japanese knife completely shaved down to perfection. The other knives - precise. Cost was insanely reasonable but the care was over the top. In my experience working with small businesses, the passion is in the craft. Yes everyone likes Amazon up to the date updates but I appreciate the quality and Highlander provides quality / craft.
