Daniel helped us work with our insurance for approvals and wrote the estimate, and Nicole coordinated the finances and payments smoothly between all parties. We were lucky to have Brenden as our project manager. He scheduled and coordinated all the work, ensured every little detail was taken care of, communicated with us clearly and effectively, and immediately rectified any minor issues that came up. He was also incredibly patient with us. We were so happy with how the work was progressing that we added additional work to the scope, and he accommodated it without hesitation and without it affecting our promised timeline. Our carpenters, Corey and Miguel, worked on various framing repairs including trims, painting, removing old carpet, installing new light fixtures, and more, all done efficiently and always with a positive attitude. I would come by intermittently to grab things from the house and always saw them buzzing away, while also being super attentive to our needs and any little details I brought up. Their work was outstanding quality. The vendor PCRS worked with for the laminate installation also did an incredible job. We are beyond thrilled with how everything turned out! The icing on the cake was that they finished right on schedule, and we were able to move back in smoothly just a few days before hosting out-of-town guests in what felt like a brand new home. Do not use these people. They are scammers trying to rip off you and your insurance. I spent 3 months with these people who kept giving me and the insurance different amounts. Insurance company said they would pay an amount based on their recommendations. However, when they came to view the damage the amount was a whole lot less because less was going to be done. However, they wanted the same amount of money and 3/4 of a deposit. They took the deposit and wanted more. On the last invoice they said 0 amount due. Now I have to get a new contractor. Diego mapped out what needed to be done, submitted it to the insurance company and answered all their questions. PCS was FANTASTIC with coordinating repairs due to a water leak in my walls that ended up causing damage to an entire wall and requiring new flooring in my laundry room and downstairs living room. Things I loved about working with PCS: - Excellent & timely communication via phone, text, and email -- I always had an update on the project's status, even if the update was "we're still waiting on XYZ"; I never had any trouble reaching someone if I had questions or concerns, and usually got a text or email back within minutes of reaching out - Above and beyond support from my points-of-contact: Ian and Jaycob were fantastic, especially when my water leak issue sprung new challenges prior to scheduled work; Jaycob came out and personally inspected the new leak and gave his recommendations for plumbers, even calling in a favor to get me on the list for a plumber who was fully booked! Repairing the actual leak isn't even technically under PCS's purview, but they went out of they way to help me resolve the issue quickly so we could move forward with renovations - Clear verbal AND written explanations with documentation for everything; this was my first time going through a process like this (as a first-time home owner) and I was initially overwhelmed with the scope of the project, but Ian and Jaycob did a great job of breaking everything down for me step-by-step and patiently answered all my questions - Jaycob did a fantastic job of double-checking all the work from the subcontractors and making sure that everything met standards--even catching things that I hadn't noticed and making sure subcontractors came back to do touch-ups and make everything 100% perfect I'm really happy with this work and I would absolutely recommend PCS to anyone else. We got assigned a very rude project manager initially who was abrasive and flat out ignored our preferences and concerns and was not a skilled craftsman (just imagine excessive spray foam oozing into your house). I give the company some credit, though, because they did have some skilled and friendly people on the job. And they took our complaint into consideration and reassigned our job to a manager that saw the project through to the end. We experienced water damage, not extensive but enough to "put a hitch in our giddy-up" for over five months. None of the contractors we used could out shine Portland Construction Solutions, PDX, when it came to keeping us informed every step of the way. In today's "professional" world (notice the quotation marks) it's unusual to actually hear from someone you're paying to do a job unless you pester them over and over again. PDX is an exception. Through all the chaos of dealing with an insurance company that was and is a nightmare and their adjuster who seemed to disappear after our initial meeting to their third party adjusters who seemingly called all the shots but never returned a call or email or text, having a company like PDX was a ray or sunshine. I can honestly say they exceeded every expectation we had. Each person we dealt with was personable, knowledgeable, professional and highly qualified for their area of expertise. Unbelievable; on time, worked quickly, left no mess and worked with us when the insurance company seemed to be bothered with our questions. Kitchen remodel - My experience was fantastic! It started off with Cassie who made some key decisions that saved my family a lot of grief. I can't thank her enough for her sound advice. The project manager, Brenden was phenomenal. He rolled with the punches well, while continuing to deliver. He regularly used his background as a carpenter to help inform me of my best options. Things may have been delayed due to supply chain issues, but he always followed up and held his team accountable. Last, but not least was his very skilled teammate Fidel who showed a lot of pride and high quality in everything he touched. I contracted Portland Construction Solutions based on an impressive web site wrong ! The project was to take 2 weeks approximately this was all suppose to be done while we were away . When we got home they had barely begun any work so now that we're home we had to deal with dust people coming in and out etc. This was an apparent lack of communication on there part. I then called the owner of the company to vent my dissatisfaction he took my name email address and phone number and said he would call me back later that evening while he looked into the problem, he never got back to me at all . The project took 5 weeks to completion. May I say lack of communication starts from the top down. Wrong company be careful when you do your research things may not be what they seem. read more

I regret choosing PCS. There was very little oversight by the general contractor, which led to having to redo several items. Within 2 months after project completion we had water damage to drywall (caused by their use of improper materials) that they refused to repair. I wish I could give this company a minus star review, however, that is not an option. In our initial meeting, PCS seemed to be 'on top of things'. However, as time went on, it was clear that they were totally the opposite. I was the designer on a home remodel due to a fire. The entire interior had to be gutted and redone. In the process, we made some minor framing changes to improve the 40-year-old floor plan. The construction should have taken no more than 6-8 months. It took 21 months. 21 months!! Totally unacceptable!! When PCS claimed they that the project was complete, the owner & I performed a Punch Walk (a walk-thru to make sure everything is complete & done correctly). A Punch List was then complied and the Contractor was notified of incomplete or sloppy work. We ended up having to do not 1, not 2, but 3 THREE Punch Walks! In addition, there was always a lot of debris both inside and outside of the home during & after construction. We had a deadline on the home as it was going on the market. The deadline came and went not once, but TWICE. Thankfully, due to a shortage of homes in the Portland area, it sold quickly. However, there were still items that were not complete. The new owner has taken possession and there are STILL outstanding items (one example: PCS lost the furnace cover). Travis Greiner, the Project Manager, was very unresponsive and was "hunting out of town" more often than not. He would send his son, Brendon, to the job site to take care of things, but obviously, he was very new to the trade. I would never recommend this company for any new or remodel work. read more

I have since been continuously working with them for the past two months and can honestly say that I have felt very well taken care of and knowledgeably led through the reconstruction of our kitchen. We had a leak under the sink in our kitchen which resulted in a major poroblem. It took 2-1/2 months to complete but Justin checked in every week to see that we were being taken care of which was appreciated. Bob and Joseph did the work on the repairs on we were very pleased with their work and willingness to get the job done in a timely manner and offerered extra help on many items. There were a pleasure to work with and had to take up the slack when the floor people didn't complete their part of the work. This was extra for them. We were assigned Portland Construction by our homeowner's insurance to take care of fire damage. They sent someone out immediately to assess damage and create an estimate. We were really pleased with the promptness of that initial visit, but our experience with the company went downhill from there. We assumed that the title "Project Manager" implied that the person bearing that title would actually be "managing" the project, but we were sorely mistaken. We were advised that our project would take a couple of months, but we passed the five month mark with no resolution. Every extra day that went by and we had to walk into a burned kitchen became more and more upsetting. That (and too many other issues along the way) was bad enough, but the worst part of it all was the very obvious fact that they didn't care one bit about what was happening (or not happening, mind you). Never did we hear anything that would convey to a customer that they actually cared about us, our situation, or even how we felt about their services. Maybe we were a small insurance job to them, and we just didn't matter. Maybe they figured they were going to get paid regardless of their job performance. That's exactly how we felt. Our insurance had to open up an investigation into the matter. According to our insurance agent, a manager from Portland Construction (or some higher-up) was supposed to call us to discuss the situation, but no-one ever did. Although, they did tell our insurance agent that several people tried to call us. Never happened. By the end there was no way in the world that we would allow anyone from their company to step foot inside our home. Fortunately, our insurance agent finally agreed that the whole situation was unacceptable, and they took back their money from Portland Construction, and allowed us to find someone else. The absolute night and day difference with our current contractor's level of communication vs Portland Construction is amazing. Customer service is important. read more

I do not recommend anyone using Portland Construction for your home repair needs. They are not worth the headache due to a disjointed, uncommunicative, and potentially incompetent staff that does not hold to their word. The entire affair felt eerily like dealing with health care costs; where no one knows what things will cost throughout the process, the left hand does not talk to the right, and administration is incompetent(or unwilling) to give accurate details when asked. We asked for financial clarification on multiple occasions (as I thought we may owe more, but the numbers just were not adding up). We got responses like, "I just can't give you those details right now", "This is a mess, I will have to ask a co-worker", "You are right, these don't seem to add up", and "I assure you that the finals numbers will be ready for you at final walk through". The owner verbally gave the final amount due to us at final walk through, as he said he was not given the requested statement. We made the final payment to him. Paying at this point, without a written statement was an error on our part. We should have insisted (again!) on the physical statement. Roughly two months later, apparently after reviewing and sifting through their mess, we received an email with a large balance still due. No apologizes or acceptance was made for miscommunicating the balance due (on multiple occasions), nor acceptance whatsoever of responsibility for the mis-information or mess of administration was communicated. During phone conversations, they as few and neutral of comments as possible, then insisted on payment. Never mind, that a contract $10,000 over the contract we signed was sent to insurance, but never seen by us until after project completion. We had to request it multiple times after the unknown balance was invoiced to us, as things were not adding up to us, based on the contracts we had. The result is that both the consumer and insurance companies get gouged. We paid it, washed our hands of this company, and are finally done. However, our concern now is you - We do not want another family to have the same experience we did. I am (mostly) happy with the repairs themselves, but the sales and administrative side of this company will end up costing you dearly, - in A LOT of time , frustration, and money! The negatives far outweigh the positives. I highly recommend seeking another company. read more
