Really was hoping this would be a great experience, but so far it's fallen short. When I initially reached out for a quote to powder coat some pieces for my truck (roof rack and rock sliders), Derek got back to me quickly (on the weekend even) and with a good price. Great first impression. Then I dropped my items off on 3/23/21 and the staff member was friendly in helping me unload them and getting my information. Both Derek and the staff member quoted me a two week lead time, meaning I was expecting them sometime around the week ending 4/9/21. I pick I know this isn't an exact science and projects can take longer, so I gave some extra time and waited to reach out for an update until 4/16/21. I left a voicemail asking for a callback on the status. Never got a callback. I gave them another 10 days. Then on 4/26/21, I replied to my prior email chain with Derek and asked for an update. No response to that yet either. It's been 5 weeks versus the estimate of 2 weeks and no updates at all. At this point I'm just hoping they haven't lost my $3000 of parts I just bought. Will update review as this progresses. Update: Called again on 5/3/21, someone answered the phone, and confirmed that my order had been done for weeks. They apologized no one had reached out to me, or returned my prior attempts to contact them. Finished product looked great, really happy with how it turned out. Also came in at the price I was quoted, another plus. Just have to expect that customer service will be lacking, and it's on the customer to continually try to catch someone in the office for an update. read more

I used this service years ago for indoor metal chairs and they turned out great. So I figured I would give it another go. This rounds was four chairs and a table for outdoor use. The job was to be completed in 3 weeks which turned into 6 weeks. I would have been fine with the time line but their accountability is pitiful. I must have called seven or eight times after the due date and was either put on hold and told they would call me back. They never called me back, I had to call and call and call with a different explanation/story from them as to why it wasn't completed or that it was almost done. I understand things take time and was trying to be patient but just give me a straight answer . There was some serious communication issues over the phone ,as in I had to repeat my name five or six times each time while they shuffled through papers trying to find the paperwork. When we did finally get the pieces back we stood out side waiting for about ten minutes till the door opened and could see them carrying a chair out. The rest of the table parts were hanging on a drying rack and no one was grabbing them so I went over and started grabbing parts since it was not going to happen any other way. This is fine ,I'm capable ,but zero effort from their guys. Now for the quality... I think the pieces turned out decent sans some hard raised sharp bits stuck in the surface here and there, not terrible. Plus we were warned that being outside the chairs could rust again in some difficult to reach areas. A year was the proposed timeline for this to occur but no guarantees. I received the chairs and table on 5/19 and today is 6/20 and the chairs have been outside maybe three weeks and they are starting to rust. All in all a poor experience and I don't expect this to resonate in a positive way with this company. There is some serious mismanagement and lack of communication and accountability. So we have our patio set back and are using it and enjoying it. Today some touch up paint came in the mail and I'm filling in the rust spots. The quality of things in general are less than desirable but functional. I can't say they were rude ,just uninspired to provide decent capable service. I was nothing but pleased beginning to end. Took MANY vintage car parts here. Many of them small (suspension washers and such). They kept track of everything, did it on time, excellent work and very fair price. Provided everything back to me wrapped well so that nothing would get damaged after the work was done. They were also very pleasant to work with. One of their guys even helped sort through all my parts to make sure they were all there (15 minutes of his time!). I did have to call them to find out if the job was done. I saw another reviewer complain about that. Yeah, they should probably call me when the job is done or have questions, but if you just realize they may not do that and you may have to call, then everything else will be excellent. read more

Best powder coaters around. Most recently we brought in our outdoor cast-iron potbelly fireplace and iron fire pit for a high-heat treatment so they can live outside without rusting and they did a fantastic job on both pieces. A couple years ago we took in all of our 100-year old iron floor vents and they turned out great. Powder coating instead of painting was the perfect way to keep the grates looking great as they get walked on all the time. They still show no signs of wear. We just had our hand made wrought iron table and chairs to be coated. The items were very rusted and weathered. When we picked them up a few weeks later we couldn't believe how good they looked. Seriously the worst customer experience I have ever had, and I've had my fair share of bad customer experiences. I mean I used to be a comcast customer. So we went in on April 29th to get a very old rusty bike sanded and repainted. They told us they were very busy, but would get to it done as soon as possible. They hesitated to give us a date, but implied it would be done within 3 weeks. So the following week we gave them a call to see if they got started, and they told us that they had not. We called a few days later, they said they had not yet started but will be starting soon. We call the a few days later, they put us on hold for over an hour before hanging up on us. We called the following day, no one picked up. We called the following day, still no one picked up. We called the following week, they claimed that there was no bike there. We called the next day, more than three weeks later (so after their rough estimate), they told us the bike hasn't been started but should be next on the list. We call the following week, after being put on a 20 minutes hold, they had informed us that it had not been started. So now it was the beginning of June, more than a month later, and we called. When we called, they told us that the paperwork had not been completed, and we would need to finish it. Let me remind you, this is over a MONTH later, and WE had to call THEM... repetitively. They did not call us to inform us of this. So we go in the next day and finish the paperwork and they told us that it will be the next thing they work on and should be ready next week. Of course by this point we didn't believe them and the bike became more of a running joke that it would never get completed. So we went back to our normal routine and call them next week. They had informed us that it will be started soon. The following week when we call them we inform them that we will be going on a trip on June 23rd. The guy swore up and down that the bike would be started immediately and would be ready before June 23rd. Again we did not have any hope that it would be. Sure enough June 23rd rolls around and we call them to inform them that they missed yet another deadline. So the bike was finally done on July 10th, for anybody counting, that is two and a half months. We pick it up on the 12th, and man did they mess up our order, but of course we weren't going to complain because we didn't want to be out of a bike for another two and a half months. So let go through the full list of everything they messed up, and yes some of these are nit-picky. 1) When we went in, we asked them to repaint it as is. The blue parts as blue and the chrome parts as chrome. The bike came back fully blue, and I mean fully. The rims are blue, the spokes are blue, the gears are blue, the handle bars are blue. Everything was blue. 2) On the handle bars they had a stray piece of tape, making a portion of the handle bars not have any paint. But it is kind of fair since the handle bars were originally suppose to be chrome. 3) They left all the tape on the bike, which was really a big pain to take off. 4) Some of the smaller parts, such as the springs, had some paint globed together in an odd fashion. 5) Not all of the parts had an even coat of paint, and in some areas there was bare metal. 6) Some of the tape was not done very well, and some of the fitted components now have paint on them which made it very hard to put back in place. 7) A number of the tape lines were not even. 8) There is an entire section the size and shape of a pencil which is missing its paint. 9) Some parts which we gave them were not returned. And some of those parts are large-ish and non-replaceable. The one good thing that came out of this, is I now have a very unique very blue bike. I mean, who else paints their rims? Maybe I should look into getting tires to match. read more

This company is a complete and utter rip off. I had several hundred feet of railing put on several decks that are on my house as well as 100 feet of iron fencing and a 15 foot wide gate and a pedestrian gate. All of these items were powder coated by Portland Powder Coating. Within six months, the powder coating was already flaking off, and my railings, fences and gates were rusting. I asked the owner of the company to come out and take a look at it and after taking forever to come out to my property to inspect his shabby work, he had nothing but excuses and refused to stand behind his work. Now, I have to repaint the entire project. I have since talked to the Company that built the fence, gates, and railings, and the owner of that company said that he no longer uses Portland Powder Coating because their work was so bad that it was giving him a bad reputation. I feel that it is my duty to warn other potential customers of this scam operation. read more
