This place is completely ridiculous. Made an appointment for 10am on a Sunday and showed up 15 minutes early per their recommendation. Were told there were 7 families in front of us but it shouldn't be more than 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, no other families had been called back so we left. We scheduled an appointment on-line, as recommended. When we arrived, we found a typed note on the door stating they were closed due to massive flooding in the studio. I received an appointment confirmation text, so I know the studio had my number. Can you tell me why I did not receive a call from the studio to at least cancel (or for good customer service, attempt to reschedule)? I had business to tend to at JCP within the same mall, so while there I checked with their studio for availability (they were booked). The lady at the desk told me another Portrait Innovations customer stopped in yesterday with the same issue. If this issue was known the day before my appointment, why on earth did they not call? When we arrived for our appointment, two people walked out of the Portrait Innovations doors. Since the doors were locked, I assume they were staff. If staff were there, why did they not call? Do you know what it takes to get 4 guys to take a family photo? My husband and 3 sons put up with my request every couple years. How likely is it that they will do this again for me? What happens if the same scenario plays out? I tried calling the studio phone number in my confirmation text and it rang and rang and rang and rang...... When we got home, I looked on the Portrait Innovations studio website and found the studio number to be different. Not impressed, photos were barely average, some turned out dark and even after reprinted, still dark. Put us against a black background and since I was wearing dark clothing, I blended in. We got much better quality pictures from JCP. Only got one photo on CD, where at JCP we got all. $28 per sheet, if it wasn't the coupon, it would've been a small fortune. People were friendly but that was only positive. The Christmas cards that came with it, they turned out dark. Not returning. read more

We went just after Thanksgiving (prime Christmas portrait time). The wait was minimal, pretty much what I would expect during this time of year. The photographer was great with my 10 and 2 year olds, and the pictures turned out great (which frankly is the most important thing). We got our portraits printed and ready to go in half an hour. We liked the pictures so much we ended up ordering 3 more books for Christmas books. The price is decent, about what I would expect. The options are pretty much endless. They definitely do try to sell you a huge package, but hey that's why they're in business. Will definitely be back. read more

I am so disappointed. A few days ago I went with my sister to get pictures taken for my mom's Christmas gift. We took a few really beautiful photos that we would have gotten printed, except that our photographer took them over a black background when we were wearing black. It just looked like our heads were floating. So we chose not to get those pictures, but to go with two others. We waited quite a while to have our pictures printed, looked them over pretty quickly because we were antsy to leave, and took them home. Then I noticed upon another look that one of the photos isn't even lined up in the corner-- you can clearly see a line from the white background in photoshop that should have been covered up by the photo. Our pictures were $70! For this quality I could have gotten a camera and printed my own picture, and we wouldn't have just been floating heads. I called to ask if I could drive all the way back to have them reprinted but their printer is now down and won't be fixed until the new year. This was supposed to be a Christmas present that now we can't give. My mother's been wanting these photos for a while now, I can't just give her the bare minimum, low quality pictures that I received. So now I have to wait until the new year, drive back, and wait to have my photos re printed. And all for $70. Talk about disappointing! read more

Very misleading! Went for a special they were running for $30. I expected to end up paying more but not $168! I asked them several times to explain the pricing to me before we got started and the question kept getting dodged. In the end I felt like I had no choice but to buy the 6 pose package even though I only like 3 pics of all the photos they took! The worst part was that I had to choose things for my package that I didn't even want. The background options they had looked cheap. I could create something better looking on my computer. Recently went into the Brookfield location for pictures of my children. This was the 3rd time I've been there the last time being back in 2015. What a difference a few years makes. Firstly, the floor had debris all over it like no one vacuumed in forever. I understand plenty of people are in and out but still vacuum throughout the day. The dressings rooms were also really dirty. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the quality of the photos was horrible... during the review, the photographer kept saying " I can lighten this up..." on almost every photo. I ended up only choosing 6 poses and even that cost $160... a far cry from the $30 promotion that originally had me setup an appointment. They printed the photos and they were sooo DARK!!! You could barely make out the faces! I asked them to reprint which the rep at the front desk happily agreed to, and she stated she would call me later on that day when there were finished. This was about 2pm on Saturday. As of Monday, I haven't heard a word. So basically I paid $160 to leave with NOTHING!!!! Don't go here!!!! read more

Scheduled an appointment three weeks in advance. Drove over an hour away. The mall was under construction on the side entrance which made is 5 mins late. Worse photographer ever. Paid about $450 and the photos look like homemade studio photos. Pictures were cut either half of our arms, shoes, or part of our hair. The photographer doesn't seem to know what she was doing. We bought a big family package and when you get the 5x7 it looks nothing like the whole photo shot. They don't cutomize the photo to fit nicely for the size. If they shot the photo bigger when you get the size down. It will look like a close up and not a full size protrait. This will be the first and the last ever going there. Of course, i had them re- print the pictures where they cut off some of my kids face/cheeks but it didn't make a difference. Did not want to waste any more time there. Also, do not set up an appointment! Regardless if you have one or not. Anyone who walk in that day before you goes first. There's no point of scheduling an appointment. This place is all about $$. read more

Terrible experience. Waiting forever despite having an appointment. No one tell s you tour wait will be in excess of a hour and a half at least. I have been taking my children here for years but the experience is getting worse instead of better. They're now only open until 6pm. As a single mom, I had to get my 2 kids dressed and to the latest appointment time by 5:20pm. I was 18 minutes late and they called me. I said I was in the parking lot and was told to reschedule as you are only allowed to be 15 mins late. I have waited over 45 mins for an appointment before because they were behind. I will not be returning. I'll go somewhere where customer service matters and my money is valued. read more

This studio has made big improvements since we were here a year ago. The new manager, Grace, is not only a great photographer, but she has endless energy, a great smile and is a pleasure to work with. We are very happy with the pictures she took. Hopefully she will still be the manager when we come back next time. read more

We had an appt. to have our family pictures done. They made us wait for over an hour. The help kept saying there was nothing they could do. They said it was corporates fault for the way people schedule. Told us we would just have to complain to corporate. What a terrible way to run a business. Every time I come to this innovations it's always busy . I much rather prefer the one in Racine much cleaner ! We went to take family pics the workers were nice but nobody really tried to help us out with different pose ideas. And nobody tried to make my 18 month son smile. So... I just received my portraits that I waited for 2 months to get and yet again I am STILL missing items!! I don't comprehend what is so hard to send what I ordered. I have yet to receive my 16x20 and my cermaic mug. I called customer service just to hear a voicemail saying to call back during normal hours which are from 9am to 6pm..... Did I mention I called at 5:30?? Its just bullsh*t I can even believe it. Worst service ever , I should have just went else where. I would have rather waited another 2 weeks and get my complete order than to get it in two days and not even have all that was paid for. If zero stars were an option that's what they would get. We have been using Portrait innovations since my son was born in May of 2012. We used to go to the Pleasant Prairie location which is now closed which forces us to either drive an hour to Rockford IL or to the Brookfield location. We had pictures taken for Christmas and because of our busy work schedules we had to take pictures on December 23rd. Our appointment was at 6:50 we arrived about 15-20 minutes early and right when we walked in the door the woman told us that their printer was down at that we wouldn't be getting our pictures until after Christmas. It was almost as if she wanted us to cancel our appointment and it seemed rude that they would not have given us a call to inform us that their equipment was broken before we arrived since they had our phone number on file from us booking the appointment. So with it being the last available day we couldn't reschedule to another day and we get pictures every year we just continued with our appointment. So we sat and waited for our turn for our kids' pictures to be taken we were not called back until after 7:30 40 minutes after our appointment was supposed to be and more than an hour after we arrived. While we sat their patiently we overheard other families being given a hi resolution cd so that they could print their pictures in time for Christmas that was not offered to us. So once it is our turn for pictures to be taken the photographer seemed rushed and someone else's kid kept coming into the space which required the photographer to have to return him to his family on more than one occasion. Typically when we have pictures taken we have more than one background and at least 35-50 shots to choose from when we are done. We typically spend about 300-350 on pictures but this time with the lack of time spent on our kids we barely had the minimum to get the regular CD. Then for what you pay in the past you would get 3 sheets of pictures but now the price is the same but you are only getting 3 sheets. Quite honestly if you want Good quality pictures at the price they are charging you could hire a professional photography for an hour and get the copyrights to the pictures. Then to add to everything else the facility was disgusting garbage all over the changing room and all over the waiting area and 5 blocks for their kids play table. Update we kept our appointment since we didn't need our photos until December 29th and we were told we would be able to pick up the photos on the 26th. We went on the 26th and we could not pick up our pictures. On Saturday the day we needed the pictures for I called and their printer was still not working so now I feel like we wasted our money since we only see the grandparents for Christmas and we didn't have the gift they wanted most so now we will have to mail it to them and hope they don't get damaged in the process that is if we ever actually get the pictures. read more

I have been using Portrait Innovations for years. I went this time to have my daughter's yearly photo taken. The photographer, NICK, took her pictures and we started to review them. When I placed my coupon for the package on the desk, I was told that I couldn't use it "by itself" and it had to be used in conjunction with a purchase. "It was a new corporate rule." No where on the coupon did it say this. Not willing to spend $99 (the cheapest item, I was told, that I could use with the coupon) in addition to the $24 coupon package, I left with nothing. I called the corporate customer service to question this. They told me there was no such rule and I could have just purchased the $24 coupon package. I don't know why Nick lied to me, especially since we weren't exactly "problem" customers (my daughter is 14 and we didn't complain or do anything to turn him against us). I am more than furious that I dragged us there because my daughter woke with a fever. I would have rescheduled but couldn't find a day to change it to. So, I figured we'd just quickly get the pictures done with and call it a day. Then we ended up doing it for nothing! So, BEWARE, if you are told something that sounds strange, they may be lying to you. I would also request that you don't have NICK, especially if you are a teen or adult because he seemed to treat all customers the same -- I mean, really, do you have to ask me if she wants number blocks in the picture -- SHE'S 14, of course not! Oh, what also irks me the most is I swear that he was smirking when I said "Sorry, then, I guess I wasted both our time because I won't be purchasing anything now."
