Fantastic. We had a serious pet urine problem in the basement (our older dog was a lot sicker than we knew and was peeing in the basement frequently). In rode Poseidon on their white horse. 1. The Techs were friendly, knowledgeable and CAME EARLY!!!!! 2. The process was fast, they explained what we should do (next steps) and left the house so much cleaner than it was before. 3. So a week ago it rained pretty heavily, and the basement got a bit mud dirty from the trucks and car coming in and out . We have all the basement covered with carpets and it was a complete mess. Even smelled a bit muddy in there. Uncomfortable!!. Called this company and WOW. The basement carpets are looking brand new, not only that but they are completely dry after the cleaning, they vacuumed after all the cleaning which made the process a lot faster. We got in touch with Poseidon because we had a few area rugs that needed to be generally cleaned and treated for pet messes. Since we live in Rockville and they were area rugs and are on top of hardwood floors we wanted to bring the rugs to Poseidon's location but found out that they conduct their services in the home. Poseidon came to our house with a crew of two and cleaned both rugs with their "dry cleaning" process. It was one 8'x10' rug and one 5'x7' rug and even without the discount they gave as an Angie's list referral it was a reasonable price ($115). Overall, the experience was good. To be honest, it is hard to tell how well the cleaning went because neither of the rugs had visible areas that needed to be cleaned. Therefore I can't give a testimonial where our once cream colored rug is now back to its original color. Instead, the big issue was from messes made by our dogs over the past year which had been spot treated but not systematically cleaned. One week later, we haven't had any dog accidents so I take that as a positive sign that the cleaning helped remove some of the latent smell/scent that encouraged the dogs to revisit the same areas. I should also mention that we are happy that their system is a dry cleaning system as we didn't want our rugs drenched with liquids and because we did not want the hardwood floors underneath the rugs to become damaged. Also, we did not want our dogs to have to interact with a wet product that might be toxic. Poseidon's dry product is non-toxic to animals so that was a huge plus. Not being an expert, and not having a cleaning need where we would easily see a visible difference in the rugs it is hard to tell if there is a difference in effectiveness between their dry cleaning process and a wet cleaning process. The reservation/booking process was easy and the office staff was very pleasant to deal with. They were very responsive about my inquiry and were able to work with my schedule to get a crew out to the house ASAP. Overall, it was a good experience and we will definitely use them again in the future. The only two issues that I can bring up are: 1) They do use a liquid agent at the start of their process and mist it across the rug. They use one agent for natural fibers that does not contain hydrogen peroxide and another agent for synthetic fibers that does. One of our rugs is made of a fiber that I could not determine as synthetic or natural. Unfortunately, neither could the techs that came to the house (with 100% certainty) therefore to be on the safe side they used the treatment without the hydrogen peroxide. Obviously, I'm happy they went with the safe option, but I wonder if there is a cleaning difference between the two and I was a bit disappointed that they could not say with certainty the fibers in the rug. 2) The techs that came to the house were very nice, professional and efficient. The only downside for me was that English was not their first language and so it was a bit harder to communicate my thoughts/concerns with them. Before we started the cleaning, I would have liked to have asked more questions about the rug fibers, cleaning the dog smells, and protecting the wood floors but it was not easy to have those conversations. At the end of the process, I was asked to sign a document which was a checklist of items the guys were to have completed (arrived on time, courteous, etc.). They definitely did most of those items but there were a few things (like some left over cleaning powder) that were not completed but it was not worth the effort of attempting the communication to fix a minor issue. I'm not saying this to be petty about the particular detailed item, but more because it would have been nice to have had a more open communication throughout the entire process. read more

Spectacular work and customer service. I own 2 dogs, 4 cats and a Macaw. I also have 3 children. Our stairs and the entire top floor of our home is outfitted in a light colored carpet. Our carpet was riddled with pet stains and just plain old dirt and grime tracked in from the dogs and the kids. It was in desperate need for a cleaning, but the previous several carpet cleaners I had did not do a very good job, so I was afraid to call another company, but it had to be done. So I looked in the "Five Star Rated" magazine put out by "Home Services Review" in Montgomery County and chose Poseidon Dry Carpet Cleaning. They answered their phone on a Sunday and showed up to my house that Wednesday. Several hundred dollars and 4 hours later, my carpet looked brand new and all odors and stains were gone. To top it off, the carpets were dry!!! I am in complete and utter disbelief at how well their dry method of cleaning worked to get out cat urine, dog urine, red wine stains and the dark colored dirt and grime. Although they weren't cheap, I am now a loyal customer. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for. In addition, the young man, Bryan, that did the job was a lovely, well-mannered, hard-working young man. What a delight!!!! I've been a landlord for over 16 years. I have several rental properties, so I've had lots of carpet-cleaning jobs!! I've hired all manner of carpet cleaners with their different methods. Some companies were good, some were bad (like the steam cleaner who left my carpet soaking wet, literally squishing under my feet). Sometimes, I've cleaned the carpets myself using my Hoover home-version carpet cleaning machine. On one such occasion, I worked on a stain with this machine and spot-remover for several hours and only made modest progress. So I called Poseidon, who my wife had used previously. I spoke with the owner, Cal, and he told me of several formulations they could try. I was impressed by how well he knew that actual chemistry involved (I'm a biochemist, and he does speak the language). I had lots of questions, and he patiently answered every one of them. So I gave the job to them, and they got the stain out, and the whole carpet looked great. I've also never seen another service that uses the rotating roller-brushes that they use, which rotate about a horizontal axel. It works great, and they are very consciencious. Ever since, I've always used Poseidon. They guarantee their work, or they'll come out and do it again until it's right. Now, I've never tried to see how far I could push this guarantee, like would they come out for 10 re-cleans? Somehow, I doubt it, but I do know they would try everything possible long before try #10, and if they couldn't get it clean, nobody could. read more

Just had our carpets cleaned by Poseidon. Fantastic results. I was on the brink of replacing our 15 yr old wall to wall carpeting upstairs in our bedrooms and the area rug in our dining room, which we gave up on after using the Rug Doctor machine from our local grocery store (which was unsuccessful in getting out stubborn stains). We don't have pets so the stains were mostly normal ground-in dirt and food stains in the dining room. Poseidon was a little pricey, but nothing to compare with replacing 1000 sq. ft. of carpeting. My skeptical husband even agreed the carpets look like new. The process is almost totally dry so we could walk on the carpets immediately. No soggy carpets, no chemical smells, no large bulky equipment. The crew was very professional and accommodating. After they cleaned the carpet they didn't leave until we inspected it and were totally satisfied. I cannot recommend Poseidon enough. I will definitely use them again. read more
