Family haven't arrived so I took the chance and am so glad I called Posh. At 4:45pm I called and scheduled a cut for my teenage son and me, zipped over and walked out within an hour looking fab after a wash and trim from Deb. Great hair products and super friendly staff. The owner Mona greeted us and made conversation while bringing us water. YIKES! DO NOT GO HERE! I'm legit laughing even thinking of this salon. Let's get into the nitty gritty of why. I booked my Hair and Make-Up combo appointment at Posh! Salon & Boutique online via Vagaro with Monalisa Aguilar - the owner. I booked this appt for a wedding I was attending. I arrive right on time for my 9:15am appointment. I walk in and Monalisa and her daughter give me a cold hello - Monalisa let's me know she'll be with me shortly. 15 minutes go by and my appointment still hasn't started. This is when my nerves started to kick in. ANY self respecting hair and makeup establishment that doesn't start on time, is not a good salon. I swear by this rule. Why? Because these places book out for the entire day. If they aren't professional, planning accordingly and running right on schedule - numerous customers will be negatively impacted. & if the workers aren't vehemently apologizing or rushing to get you started (which Monalisa wasn't) - they don't care about you as a customer. After 20 minutes, Monalisa finally let me know she would get me started shortly (a bit nicer than when I first arrived) but she also let me know: "Unfortunately our makeup lady poopoo'd out on me. She just stopped showing up one day." My heart sank - ".....soooo, can you do makeup then??? Or not?" "NO. I can do it. But I'm not a makeup professional." You guys....Monalisa knew her makeup artist was no longer working at Posh!, knew she herself wasn't a makeup expert, & yet never called to tell me this even though I had booked a hair and MAKE-UP appointment. This is hands down one of the most unprofessional things I have EVER seen a salon do. You don't have paying customers come in to your place of work - expecting a service you knowingly are not going to be able to provide well. It's a dishonest business practice! 30 minutes late - Monalisa finally starts my appointment. Monalisa sits me down and begins doing my hair. There is junk and clutter all over this salon and past customer's hair scattered all over the floor. Monalisa asks what hair style I want and I let her know I want boho waves. Monalisa starts curling my hair with a wand...and then pinning it to my head. Do you all know what happens when you curl and then pin the hair to the head? It's going to come out VERY curly... like Shirley freaking Temple curly. It's the opposite of what you want to do if you client is asking for tousled waves. So I'm getting my hair pinned to my head and mid way through Monalisa spills coffee all over her wand and work area. Monalisa then grabs a makeup wipe to clean off the wand and burns her hand...BUT Monalisa continues to curl my hair with the coffee wand & I can still smell the aroma of burnt hair & caffeine. #nice Once my hair was all pinned to my head #SOS - Monalisa began her makeup onslaught. Monalisa wipes off my face with a makeup wipe much like a mother would clean a toddlers face lol. She legit was grabbing at my face so rough - it was quite the experience. Then she began her poor, poor eye-shadow attempt #lordsavemyface. Pink glittery eyeshadow fell ALL over my face and I looked like a discoball by the time she was "done". I finally told her to stop and to just apply fake lashes - which she put on COMPLETELY crooked. #HELP Monalisa then pulls the hair clips out and my hair comes down in a nightmare of tight curls. CUE THE FREAKING WATERWORKS. I start ugly crying in this salon - I couldn't even ream this lady out because I was SO distressed about what she just did to my hair and face & was freaking out about how I was going to fix it. Monalisa panics - "It will fall, it will fall! Your hair will fall!" These were legit tight curls when I asked for BOHO WAVES - these curls weren't going to fall and I also had a disco ball on my f*cking face lol. In between sobs I manage to get out "I - JUST - WANT - TO - LEAVE." & GET THIS - we get to the front desk and Monalisa goes "I'm sorry. I won't charge you for the makeup - it will only be $120 for the hair." This was $120 for a botched hair curling!!! She didn't even wash or dry my hair AND she got coffee in it! #CROOK I then had to go shopping in Vail and buy all necessary hair and makeup supplies I had foolishly left at home. I then went back to my hotel and took a full body shower to get Posh's nightmare hair and makeup job off my body. TG I scheduled at this hell hole early in the day. Then, to add insult to injury, I found plastic in my hair that Monalisa seemingly burned into into it with her handy dandy dirty AF wand. Truly outrageous. So Denver babes, out of town babes, all babes looking to get their hair and makeup done in Vail - let me do you a HUGE solid - avoid Posh! Salon & Boutique at all costs. read more

It's quite rare to have the absolute *worst* experience in any given area. Most services fall somewhere in the middle, closer to average; few are truly exceptional and fewer still are the abject worst but that is what you're getting when you go to Posh. I hate writing negative reviews because the vast amount of people try hard at tough jobs and can't please everyone no matter how hard they try. I give tremendous leeway to anyone who has to interface with customers on a regular basis; however, in my recent experience and affirmed by all these reviews, it's very clear to me that this salon needs a facelift and major attitude adjustment. I'm sure Mona Lisa (the owner) feels she is misunderstood and unfairly criticized and tries to do as good a job as she can manage, but at the end of the day, her talent for makeup application is absent (shockingly so), the prices are obscene, and the intent to try and give the customer a good experience is lacking. How do I know this? Because the salon is FILTHY. I've literally never seen any establishment operating under these conditions (see photos attached). The bottom line is even if my makeup looked great (it didn't), and my hair came out well (it didn't), and the prices were fair (they weren't), it would still be completely unacceptable for a salon to present in this condition. I'm really sorry Mona Lisa, you've obviously been at this a long time, but maybe it's time to listen to what so many of your customers are saying here. Barring that, have enough respect for other human beings and clean up all the hair on the floor, on the glass shelves, on the window sills, on the side chair that I watched you literally wipe down before you sat in it! So disappointed. I had an appointment with Monalisa for highlights and color. Something went wrong in the coloring process, it wad obvious to her and to me. She told me that she will "fix it" without any charge to me, To come back in a couple of weeks and she would take care of it. I made that appointment with her on a Tuesday. Five days before the appointment I talked to her to change that appointment from a Tuesday to a Wednesday. She told me that it was OK. I show up the day of my appointment and to my surprise she said she did not know me, she did not recall my past visit or my phone conversation. I was dumbfounded and left. When I walked to the Ritz valet parking to get my car, I was told by someone working there that this happen too often with her. I will certainly will not recommend her to anyone. read more

My mom and I made appointments here to get our hair done for my brothers rehearsal dinner, and the lady, Lyndsey, never showed up. My mom waited for 45 minutes on a very important day, when we had plenty of other things we should have been doing! The stylist never showed up because she is also a realtor and had more "important" things to do and thought it was OK to keep us waiting. She called me 45 minutes late and said that she could squeeze us in and really didn't seem to understand the fact that when you make an appointment, you need to be there, you don't just get to go on a real estate appointment and show up 45 minutes late for your clients. My sweet sister had booked an updo for her wedding day. The day before the appointment the hairdresser called to confirm her appointment day and time. The morning of her wedding as we were driving to the appointment the woman calls and leaves a message on her phone about how she was leaving town and was worried she wouldn't have enough time to make it to the airport. My sister called her back and assured her she would be there at the confirmed appointment time. I should have guessed how this was going to play out. My sister is the nicest, sweetest person in the world, and told the hairdresser it's okay if you have to cancel my appointment! On her wedding day. I was so mad. My sister asked if the hairdresser could just put her hair in hot rollers and we would do the rest! The hairdresser agreed to that. So she could leave to catch her flight. I was parking the car and my sister called to say I'm done, I was like what do you mean your done it took 5 minutes. She said the lady was so nice she was going to let her walk around in the hot rollers for a few hours, and we could return them to the salon after her wedding! I asked her how much did you pay to get your hair put in hot rollers? The woman charged her $50. I can't believe how bad the service was! She made an appointment for an updo for her wedding, the hairdresser called to confirm the appointment the day before. Then on the day of her wedding this is how she was treated! Beyond disappointed! I booked this appt for a blow dry for my daughters wedding 7 months early....way in advance! They even confirmed my appointment with me on several occasions...even up to the day before! I went the day of my appt and the shop was closed! Can you believe this??? This was absolutely So TERRIBLE for me as I had to do my own hair for my daughters wedding!!!!! This was so unprofessional!!! I called to find out where they were ??? Set an appointment almost 3 weeks out to have my "Wedding Day Trial" done. From the time I set the appointment to the time of the appointment, Posh sent me no less than 4 emails to confirm my "Wedding Day Trial". After Lyndsey did a somewhat decent job on my hair, I was supposed to have my makeup done, however they had NO ONE there to do it - even after the no less than 4 emails to confirm my "Wedding Fay Trial". They offered absolutely ZERO solutions, did absolutely NOTHING to try and rectify the situation except to only charge me $70 for my hair (which I could've done a better job of with less pain). Needless to say, Posh is not someone to use if you're looking for a reliable and/or helpful vendor. How they're still in business with that type of customer service is completely beyond me. I had to go to a New Years party on the 31st, so I booked an appointment ahead of time for the 30th. I arrived for my appointment on the 30th and the salon was closed. When I called, they rescheduled me for the 31st and told me that they would call to give me a time. So, on the 31st I called to get the specific time. There was no answer. I called 5 separate times and left 5 separate voice mails. I do not recommend relying on Posh. read more

This salon is not prepared to help you with one of the most important events of your life- your wedding! Very disorganized.

After calling and emailing in regards to wedding day makeup and hair, the receptionist, despite me putting in writing it was solely myself that needed services, continued to email me saying I needed to fill out paperwork prior to booking. After I had booked, my hair and makeup appointment was completely CANCELLED one hour before it was scheduled with no alternative so I was left to do my own hair for my wedding. I should have heeded the other reviews that indicated that this is NOT a professional salon with professional practices. I booked an appointment weeks in advance. I received an appointment reminder text the day before and indicated that "I will be there"! Guess what - like many many of the other reviewers, THE SALON WAS DARK. They did not show up, they did not communicate anything to me (other than reminding me to show up for my appointment). Absolutely complete disregard for customers. Booked 6 appointments 3 weeks in advance for a special wedding and the owner assured us we would be finished in time . The staff was great , however the owner kept squeezing in other appointments while we were rushing to get finished and made this relaxing event become ever so stressful . So here's the scoop. Vail is small and this is one of the only places in the area. It's over priced, the one main woman is cray. She does a good job but don't expect any personal attention. I went in for a wash and blow dry. They didn't put a towel under my shirt so my ears and shirt got wet. Just make sure to ask instead of getting wet. Also don't expect things to be on time. Some girlfriends and I were in Vail for a wedding and decided last minute that we wanted to get pampered while our boys were golfing. We called this salon right when it opened and they were so gracious in accommodating all six of us on short notice. I've had a great experience with this salon and with Monalisa - my wedding is on July 5th (2014) and I did a trial run with her. The experience was outstanding. I LOVED what she did with my hair and I feel very good about the upcoming Big Day because at least my hair will be fabulous! I went in at the last minute to get a blow out and get my hair styled and the owner was very nice to squeeze me in and gave me a great price (about $20 less than another salon). She also recommended a great restaurant for dinner. I would definitely trust her with your hair. My husband loved the style that she gave me and he usually never notices my hair. read more

Mona Lisa was not even present the day I arrived to your awful salon. My review is completely accurate and true. I came in with healthy hair and left with dry and damaged hair. The staff was rude, asking inappropriate questions in regards to my personal life and who I date. The staff did add a 20% tip without my consent. Terrible Service! I called this salon to make an appointment for a cut and style two weeks from that date. I mentioned that I was coming up to Vail for my engagement photos that day and thus I wanted to look especially nice. I even called back to confirm the pricing and they said they had me on the books. Imagine my surprise and horror, when I showed up the day of my appointment with unwashed hair and the salon was closed! I have been reading the negative comments on here and I have to say that as far as Mona Lisa's ability to do good hair...she is solid. I am very very picky with my blow outs and I was happy. Got lots of compliments and great pics to prove it. Is she a little distracted and eccentric? Sure...but hey that's what makes the world go round. She can a times become preoccupied like walking away in mid blow dry to do something else but it's kinda a one woman show there. She's quick so you are in and out of there in less than an hour. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE! The owner, Mona, is a complete nightmare to work with. One of the best decisions I made was to fire my hairstylist two days before my wedding to go with someone else after Mona had set up one of her brand new stylists to do hair for my entire wedding party. They tried to bully me into making all of my bridesmaids come to their salon to get our hair done there because it was more convenient for the stylists, even though I had booked a huge hospitality suite in the hotel next door for us to get ready in together. My trial wedding hair looked like a wet dog shit updo and if Mona tried to argue me on this I'm happy to post the photos. Mona called me names and actually yelled and fought with me in front of her clients when I was trying to get a refund that she clearly promised me and then tried to go back on her words for over two months. She likes to blame everything on her clients because she thinks she is this amazing stylist to the rich and famous but in reality you could get a better overall experience at a neighborhood Sports Cuts. read more

Very uncool experience. First of all she just seems to be doing everything very sloppy and haphazardly, like she was rushing..likely because she had overbooked. Despite making 3 appointments for my sisters and I ahead of time, she overbooked us and literally took 30 minutes in the middle of doing our hair to stop and do one of her regulars hair. No joke, wet hair just dripping down our backs for 30 minutes! When she finally did my hair, I asked for a very basic blow out, straight with big curls at the bottom (side note I get blow outs a few times a month and know how they should look based on my instructions) She literally just blow dried my hair straight and said "all done" I had to actually ask her to go back and put curls in it, which she seemed annoyed and then speedily/sloppily did. She also did similar things to my sisters, they'd tell her what they wanted and she'd do C+ version of it. To top it all off, it was outrageously expensive. No shit, she charged my sister $115!! TO GET HER HAIR CURLED?! Mind you, she did not ask for a crazy updo, she too asked for something very basic. Considering the price and where the salon was located, we certainly expected better.
