Afternoon tea for 2 (scones plated separately)
    Valerie R.

We had the best afternoon tea at Posh Tea Room in Monroe today! I had a rough week and needed to relax, and hit up Google for a spot within an hour or two. The photos and menu looked great - I had no idea they only opened a couple months ago, until our server mentioned it. You wouldn't guess it, based on the attention to detail and how smoothly everything runs. It's a lovely space. They take your coats, give you purse hooks, and have a piano player jazzing up the ambiance with mellow yet uplifting tunes. The table was set perfectly with china and all the accessories you need with tea. There is a fancy/classy, yet casual, vibe. We were excited to find out we could both pick our own teas and that we didn't have to agree on one tea service (for food). The scones and treats were the same on all, but the sandwich selection varied on the three different afternoon tea menus. I opted for the "classic", which came with coronation chicken salad, ham/cheddar/mango chutney, cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg salad sandwiches. My husband got the "teas around the world" which came with Brie/apple/honey, ham/gruyere/dijon, olive tapenade/sundried tomato, chickpea/tzatziki, and a spiced chicken sandwich. All were excellent!! And when we finished, they even offered us more if we wanted them. The teas were great! We were allowed to pick our own teas (didn't have to share) from a broad menu of teas. The owner buys direct in London to get some of the finest teas that are not available locally. I am caffeine free so opted for Marian Wright Edelman's Guardian's Grace, a fruity herbal tea that was relaxation in a teacup for me. My husband first tried the Elizabeth Cady Stanton's Strength Blend, and the also had Mary McLeod Bethune's Essence of Uplift. They were all different, but all very tasty, and perfectly brewed. It also wasn't lost on me that the teas were named after amazingly strong women throughout history, and that we were enjoying them at a woman owned business, on International Women's Day! The scones were delivered fresh out of the oven with your choice of clotted cream, jam, or lemon curd (YES to all, please!) or also butter. The pastries I believe are a rotating selection, but all were tasty bites. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and hospitable. It's a nice easy pace, with two hours reserved for your experience. It was a wonderful escape from reality! I really appreciate Laurie, Donjae, and Ingrid for creating the perfect experience for us today. 10/10 highly recommend. Call ahead for reservations!

Absolutely lovely!!! The decor here is tasteful, with an understated elegance which sets the tone for your visit. (Posh indeed!) Walking in as live piano music was playing was such a special touch! I selected the "Serenity-Tea" menu, which included 5 different tea sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, and desserts. I enjoyed them all, but the roasted red pepper and the cucumber sandwiches were particularly delicious, as were the scones!! The teas were delightful, especially the Awakening blend. So bright and flavorful! Our server Kristen was unobtrusive while taking very good care of us. She made us feel so pampered! We also enjoyed meeting the owner Laurie, who obviously has a wealth of tea knowledge and experience. As afternoon tea connoisseurs, my friend and I could not have asked for a better experience -- especially as they have only been open a few weeks. Well worth our hour-long drive! It was exactly what we were looking for. Perfection!

    Beautiful bright dining area.

Being someone who enjoys a very good Afternoon Tea this location did not disappoint. A very 'Posh' spot indeed. The dining area showcases a beautifully well lit sunny room. The beautiful interior design and colors are gorgeous. Beautiful plates, tea cups and tier servers really give it an authentic feel. But probably the most wonderful feature was the LIVE PIANIST playing softly during lunch. It simply made you relax and want to savor all of the delicious bites and teas. I enjoyed the Tea Around The World Menu. It was delicious! Every sandwich was simply scrumptious! I enjoyed two rounds of them. My teas were brewed perfectly and very smooth tasting. I enjoyed 4 different teas including a DESSERT TEA! So please save room for that. The scones are baked fresh and served warm. They were amazing! My friend makes amazing scones from scratch. She admitted she thinks these were better! And the clotted cream and home made jam was the icing on the cake! Sooo good! Thankfully I had a little room left for desserts. We were served wonderful petit fours, macrons and delightful chocolate bites. I couldn't eat or drink another thing! I literally had to take 'A Walk Around the Room'! Lol The owner Laurie was just lovely! Very engaging and truly knew her teas. One thing I love is she has a tea display set up that lets you smell your tea of choice before selecting. What a lovely thing to offer! It was wonderful to converse with her and get to know the owner of this delightful little respite from the stresses of life for a few hours. Our server Kristen was awesome! She is the right person for the job. She was so kind and polite adding a warm calming effect to the environment. I hope we have her again when we return. All and all a 5 out of 5 stars! Worth every penny! Can't wait to return. Thank you Laurie for bringing this gorgeous tea room to CT! See you soon!

A wonderful escape on a cold winter day! From the moment we stepped into this gem of a time capsule, we were pampered and felt very welcome. The formal dining room was so tastefully decorated and no detail was spared. We sipped tea from an extensive selection and dined on delicacies while listening to a live pianist. The staff, including Laurie, the owner, went above and beyond to accommodate our every whim and make sure we had an exceptional experience.

We had such a lovely time at this tea house! They were incredibly accommodating for dietary restrictions (dairy free). The teas were delicious and they had a lot of variety to choose from. Highly recommend this experience!

    Tea service.

We had a lovely high afternoon tea here today. We had 6 different tea pots with our order of 2 classic, one Serenity-tea, and a Tea Around the Globe tea sandwiches. I had wanted to try the Elizabeth Cady Stanton tea, which was delicious. The top tier of the tea tower was decorated with Macarons, Cannoli, Madeline's, and Scones fresh out of the oven came as the last course. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was conscientious and attentive. They explained the teas and origins which they have creatively named to accompany the 4 different tea, sandwich, sweet treats and scones. The owner and my Dad talked about Harrod's tea and Fortom & Mason, of which they have one of each on the menu under their creative names. If you like tea, make a reservation and prepare to take some time enjoying their experience. As a family who have loved tea for many years this was a beautiful foray into an otherworldly relaxation of place and time. Thank you. Everything was delicious. The tea service, settings and fresh lilac walls were soothing. Best wishes for your tea shop. It is beautiful.

My daughter and I attended and we were impressed from the moment our car dropped us off in the front. We were greeted at the door by a professional employee. He took us back to a beautiful space with a marble table where we picked up our name tags. Nearby was the entrance to the huge room where all of the family members were seated at circular tables with white tablecloths. Each table had a beautiful flower arrangement in the center that didn't prevent us from seeing each of the family members around our table. The waiters were right on schedule with each course starting with our drinks. The food was delicious and naturally we had anniversary wedding cake for dessert. There was plenty of space for dancing with a dance floor. When we had the opportunity to move around to the other tables to chat we were not crowded in the space. I am highly recommending you consider Tashua Knolls for your special event.

The banquet room and facility in general is extremely dated. Looks like it was last decorated in the early 90's. Weird fake flowers and sconces. Never seen anything like it. Even the ice cream was bad. I liked that there were healthy options, fresh sautéed veggies, etc. however it was completely unremarkable. This morning my partner and I woke up with diarrhea and nausea. We never have these issues except with food poisoning.

A true Stacey, she arbitrarily directed me to lead my tour on shady trails, where edible wild plants, which need sunlight, don't grow. My 13-year-old foraging expert daughter scouted out the shady trails in advance and verified this. Feeling responsible to the participants, I led the tour in sunny places, where we found plenty of plants, despite Currier's arbitrary and wrong-headed objections. Nevertheless, Currier hired me and my daughter to lead a mushroom weekend in 2017. She signed a contract, including a statement that if she canceled the event, we'd be paid in full. Then, when it was way too late for me to schedule other events, she pulled the rug out for under me, canceled our event, and hired someone else to do the mushroom weekend, despite the signed contract, causing us to lose a much-needed weekend of work. When I tried to contact her dad, Tim Currier, the owner, with whom I'd been acquainted since 2008, he showed his true colors and ghosted me. Through a laborious process, I took the farm to small claims court. The trial occurred remotely during the Covid lock-down. No one from the farm showed. I won, and they had to pay me after all. Be warned: These people are crooks, and will skunk you if they can get away with it.

I am writing this review as an experienced traveler. I have lived in 7 different countries,…read moretraveled to over 30 and am on my fifth passport. I begin with this because in all my traveling I have never used a travel agent or saw the benefit. I met Michele a few years ago and instantly liked her. She is one of those people with amazing energy. So when it was time to book my honeymoon, even though I knew where I wanted to go and stay, I decided to ask Michele to handle the booking and all the details for me. This was at least one thing I didn't have to think or worry about. As it turned out, it was the best decision that I have made in a very long time. The month before the wedding was my busiest of my working career. Added to that, the last minute details of the wedding and the wedding itself. My life was crazy insane but I knew that I would be able to relax on my honeymoon which was scheduled 2 days after my wedding. Here's where it gets good... The day after the wedding it was time to check in to our flights. I got my passport out to put in the details and the expiration date. I kept looking at it and it wasn't making sense to me...then reality hit.. My passport had expired the day before. I couldn't believe it.. How did this happen to me? I know better.. I'm experienced.. I always check, double check and triple check.. But this time, I hadn't because I was more concerned with getting my finance his first passport. I never thought to look at mine. My dream honeymoon was lost... along with all the money I spent to book it. After my screaming, crying and subsequent panic attack.. I started to think. I thought.. ok.. I have a travel agent.. I have heard Michele tell stories about people who this has happened to... So I texted her and said, "Hi Michele... It's amateur hour at my house at the moment... you will never believe this, but my passport has expired and I am melting down"... She instantly texted me back and told me to calm down and that she was on it. About an hour later, she got back to me and said this is the plan... "I have contacted the hotels and the transfer companies. We are all set. They have agreed to push your check in date back a day and we will be able to change the flights. Tomorrow, get up at the crack of dawn and go to the emergency passport office and get a new passport. Long story short.. I did this, got my passport and left the next day. Through this whole sage, Michele was kind and patient and constantly reassured me that everything would be fine even though I thought all was lost. If it wasn't for her, her experience and guidance, I do believe all would have been lost. It was so incredible to know that I had someone to turn to. I also truly believe that the hotels would not have been so agreeable with me directly. But because she is an agent, they want to make sure that they are helpful when they can be. This whole experience has shown me the "TRUE VALUE" of a travel agent. I was able to go on my dream honeymoon that didn't disappoint. Unbeknownst to me, Michele, had one more surprise. When we checked into our room at JADE MOUNTAIN, ST. LUCIA~ which I had been waiting to see for 10 years, we were given an upgrade.. but not any upgrade...They gave us the best room in the entire hotel..(ps.. I have never been giving an upgrade) ....and Never did I think in a million years, I ever would be staying in this room.. I laughed and cried, at the same time. My dream literally came true. It wasn't until I got back and found out that Michele on one of her many travels, had met the owner of this hotel, spoke to her about us and asked her in her sweet Michele way, if there was anything they could do for us, it would be greatly appreciated. Well.. they came through and in the most amazing way. I want to thank Michele for making this all possible. I get emotional thinking about it. She gave me the experience of a lifetime and gave me my dream honeymoon. If it wasn't for her, I don't think my honeymoon even would have happened. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am now a total convert. She will be handling all my travel in the future. Michele.. I hope you're ready! :-) x Erin.
