Visited home this weekend and my mom recommended we try out #theCafe, amazing recommendation! It is a cute spot with a lovely hand painted mural on the wall, greenery everywhere, and just cute decor. The girl working the front counter was friendly and held her composure with how busy they were for Friday lunch rush. Our food came out promptly, did not take long at all. The pancake dots were yummy and the pistachio muffin was fresh. The Brie LT was delicious and big - paired perfectly with the french fries that hit the spot. The BEC is a classic and was satisfying. I tried placing an order and the establishment wouldn't pick up the phone. They are pretty slow at getting your order together if you place it in person, so I figured I'd call ahead instead. I arrived early Saturday morning and was greeted by cheerful, excellent staff. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few open tables, but not for long! The place was packed out within the hour, with standing room only! The restaurant was tastefully decorated with that classic Cafe feel! The food was fresh and delicious, and the coffee was piping hot and perfect. I wish I could have tried everything on their menu! #theCafe in Brookfield has a really nice & cute setup inside. They have a few long tables for groups, a couch with a table, a counter type table along a big window. The table number you're given for your order is so pretty and carved into wood. The Iced Smores (I believe it was a latte) looked great, and tasted just as good!! I ordered breakfast - #THE SCRAMBLE - which consisted of smashed potatoes with melted gruyere cheese, with three scrambled eggs, and either bacon or sausage (I chose bacon). Just preference wise for myself I would have preferred a smaller chopped potato. Otherwise the meal was so good. I dont know how they cooked the scramble but it was not oily at all. It's a cute but if you have food allergies they have much to accommodate you. Well they have one thing I guess. They have overnight oats but if your GF you still won't be able to have them bc the granola is regular granola and not GF granola. Then they have something else that is dairy but it has peanut butter so if you have a peanut allergy that is out of the question. Example I have a gluten, dairy, peanut and egg allergy. It is impossible to eat there or to join my friend for breakfast. They don't have enough options for vegans or allergens. read more

The good: CUTE place, great French fries. The baked goods in the display case looked delicious (and we might have gone home with some if we'd been happier with our experience). The bad: customer service by young employees needs work. Customers place their orders at the counter. We approached when no one else was waiting. Two young women were behind the counter talking with each other and making coffee drinks--they did not acknowledge our presence until they were good and ready. We ordered two hamburgers that are listed on the whiteboard menu as being served on brioche. The burgers arrived, thoroughly gray from overcooking, served on ciabatta. We asked about the bread, and the waitperson didn't know the difference and said she would check--the explanation was that they were "between deliveries" and that ciabatta is "almost the same" as brioche (we do not agree with that characterization, and a whiteboard should be easy to change). We should have specified when ordering that we like burgers medium rare, but we weren't asked, and didn't think to stipulate. At the end of our lunch, we asked at the counter for a small to-go box for half a sandwich, a different young woman from our waitperson handed us a too-big box; when we asked if there were anything smaller, she flatly and annoyedly replied "No." So--quite a lot of customer service niceties were missing from today's lunch at #theCafe. read more

I've been to the Cafe several times, each time the food was good but the service was marginal. The people at the counter seem distracted and not interested in serving the public. Today, I went in ONE MORE TIME (because yes the food is good) and there was some sort of maga political event going on. One of the featured "guests" was the first selectwoman who was thrown off twitter for threatening a sitting President. I lost my appetite and left and no I'm not coming back. there are better places to go that dont support the lunatic fringe. I had a smoked salmon bagel, it was delicious. The coffees come with a huge selection of syrup flavors with sugar free option. I picked my usual Carmel syrup. Super cute place with yummy cafe food. It can be really busy so be prepared you might have to wait for a table opening. But because it's a cafe people are constantly getting up and moving on. My only recommendation is changing the way the menu is written by where you order. It's just not an easy format or font. Typically I pull the menu up on my phone because then I can actually read and find out what to order! I also like how you order at the register and then sit and wait for your food. My hot coffee was weak, lesser than the Nespresso I could make home, but my wife did enjoy her iced coffee. Service was friendly. Though it looks inviting inside, a breakfast or brunch dish that doesn't fill us up for the day to follow is a disappointing failure. We fell in love with this splace. Yes splace bc it's not just a place but a space of amazing! Our first time here we just knew we would be back. It was Dec 31. So perhaps there was a substitute chef in for the holiday. Who knows? But one thing's for sure. My wife and I had a BAD meal. One we were going back for after enjoying it on a previous visit. They call it the Scramble. A couple eggs topped with melted Gouda cheese. Bacon and fried potatoes. Hard one to screw up one would think. But here's what we got. Overcooked eggs. Dry and leathery. Scorched bacon. Hard, desiccated, blackened. Far beyond crispy. Cheese. Stringy, gluey. Nasty. Tasteless. Potatoes ... good! So there was that. With 2 coffees the tab approached $60. No worries if the food's good. But for that? Shame on them. Such a pleasant setting. Such a bright comfy venue. Such friendly servers. Such an interesting un-Brookfield-like atmosphere. Yet such bad food. What a disappointment. Try harder. PLEASE. The area needs establishments like yours. read more
