My wife and I went here for the first time tonight and we were very happy! The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly - I can't say enough about this. My wife had the fried catfish, and it was some of the best we've tried. I had the red snapper tacos because it was Mexican menu night. I was very happy with them. The place was also decorated for Halloween and the haunted house experience was surprisingly fun! We will definitely be back. Probably the best overall restaurant on PK Lake! read more

So, your at Possum Kingdom lake. After all day in the boat, and the sun, the last thing you want to do is cook. Not me! Head for Possum Hollow. We were in for a late lunch, and they weren't crowded at all. It's too hot to sit on the really nice patio. Grab a seat looking out at the lake. I always ask the staff what's good. The quick answer was catfish! Bring it on. Catfish, onion rings, and coleslaw. My life is complete. Definitely delicious, and only $9.95. Y'all are so good to me! Plenty of room in the dining room, a couple of pool tables, and a shuffleboard. Even a separate room for the kids to watch some movies And play arcade games. If you're looking for a safe place to eat during the Pandemic, steer clear of this place. If you're one of those who don't believe in wearing masks, then this is your place. They had a sign outside that said a mask was required upon entry which they were forced to do probably. Not a single staff member had one on, and none of the patrons did either including a large party of about 15 people. Also the place reeked of smoke so the bar is probably hopping at night time and a sure place to put yourself at risk. We came here specifically because they had an outside patio which was very cute and had a great view. The meal was decent and the prices pretty good as well. I will never support this business again due to their blatant neglect and stupidity. Do your part and wear your damn masks! Stop making this pandemic last longer than it should. LONG PSA.*** I want to give you a heads up on this place. First I do want to talk about the positive, Possum Hollow is a beautiful place, the ladies that work in the office/resturant are the sweetest ever BUT that is all I can say good about this place. We get there to our camp sites and start setting up camp. All of a sudden we have a gusher. The already glued together PVC pipe that is the sites water supply breaks. A few of us go to the office to tell someone. One of the ladies said someone would be down to take care of it. After about 20 minutes of water running into my camp site that was already set up a couple of men come to the site with stuck a pool que. Yes you read this correctly, A POOL QUE. They cut the pool QUE to size and into the gusher it went. They "stopped" the water from spewing everywhere by putting a pool que in it. They do not say anything and left. Approximately 30 minutes or so passed and these men had not come back, nor did we know any thing on this issue being fixed. I walk to the office to see what was happening. The sweet lady goes in the back and comes back to tells me they don't have the parts and it will be fixed "FIRST THING Saturday morning". WHAT?!?!? So I asked if they had splitters and water hoses so we could split if another site? ( we had 3 sites between the 12 in our group ) Approximately hour or so they dumped them at a persons site that was with us. BUT never told us they had done so. We get stuff ran and water flowing,things were done for Friday night. Saturday morning comes and goes and there is STILL a pool queue in the pipe that broke. At 12:30 PM I go back to the office to ask about this issue being fixed. Now these men tell us its not getting fixed because they would have to turn off water to the RV park to fix it. WOW!!!. I then returned to my site to discover one of the hose they brought us busted. LUCKLIY we had talked with some friends who were on their way to the site to stop and get hoses and splitters .THANK GOODNESS cause that is the only reason we got water running again to the RV. I would NOT recommend this place because the men are very unprofessional and do not care about their customers. Once again it is a pretty place and I have heard the resturant food is good. ****FOOD FOR THOUGH***** THE same "MAINTENANCE " guys that put the pool que in to the broken off PVC to " stop the water" are also the same guys cooking customers food at Possum Hollow restaurant . THEY ARE STILL IN THE SAME "MAINTENANCE" CLOTHES FROM THE EVENING BEFORE AND COOKING IN A KITCHEN FOR PEOPLE WH0 PAY FOR FOOD". Horrible experience, I rented a slip and had my paddle board stolen in the middle of the day. It was a hot summer day with no breeze so it was nearly impossible for the board to hit the water on its own. Just say no... This place has not been maintained. We camped from Oct 8, 2021 to Oct 11, 2021, the bathrooms had not been cleaned or maintained, no doors AT ALL in the men's room on showers or toilets, in the women's just a shower curtain liner. In both men's and women's bathroom they have 2 toilets and 2 showers, in the women's one toilet did not work, the other one ran all the time. If they had ever come in to clean or restock paper products they would have noticed that. We had several campers in our group, when one of them tired to hook up to water, the spigot broke and water shot up like a fountain, they ran up to the office to report it and a grumpy fellow came down and shoved a pool cue into the spigot... said he would fix it first thing in the morning! WHAT??? Were they supposed to go with out water until the next day??!! it was never fixed. I was in the next spot so they went back up to the office and asked for a long water hose and a splitter, the grumpy guy drove by 30 minutes later and tossed a cheep hose and splitter out his window.... Of course the hose did not have hose washers - lucky I had several. Just say no..... We will not come back.... read more

I might need to get a thesaurus to look up all the positive words I can use to describe this establishment. Lets see .. obliging, cooperative, helpful, eager to help& assist in ANY way,  adaptable, amenable, considerate, unselfish, inclusionary, generous,  willing, compliant, kindly, hospitable, neighborly, kind, friendly, pleasant,  agreeable...and HONEST. Why? This weekend I attended the 10th Annual Dia de los Toadies festival at Possum Kingdom Lake. While at the show, front row rocking out, I lost track of my purse with my car keys, all my cash, cards, my phone.... everything that means anything inside. After an unsuccessful search of any and all possible places.... I was dumbfounded when I went to Lost and Found and one of the gals at the restaurant handed me my purse with all of my contents still inside everything intact!!!! It was almost midnight, they were trying to close down and get out of there and they could not have been kinder to me. And well that in itself is pretty amazing ButI have more to tell. My companion at the show Lost His phone and we never found it that evening before we left Possum Kingdom. The next morning I texted the phone with a message that said If found please call this number. Sincerely believing there is no way it was going to turn up. Chances were good he could have lost it in the lake. By 10:30 that morning my phone was ringing and one of the gals at possum Hollow restaurant let me know that the phone had indeed been found,they charged it, saw my message and wanted to get the phone back to us. My friend (who lost his phone) was only in the state for 3 days! He flew in from Philly for Toadies show! Imagine being away from home n peeps... To not have your phone while traveling is pretty scary stuff. For less than $10 they were able to send his phone to his home! How amazing is that? Fab bar & patrons,Great venue, great show, fantastic staff !!! You could not ask for more professional, kind, considerate, and accommodating people to take care of you. I'm deeply appreciative for their consideration in their honesty, just wonderful people. And the best part was being able to show somebody from Philly the true Spirit of Texas,way to go!!! read more

Possum Hollow is one of my favorite getaway spots. We stay here for fishing tournaments and just fun fishing. I love that it has a resort type vibe and pretty much everything you need is right there. The food at the restaurant is so good and the service is great! The rooms/mobiles are always clean! The location is great. It has it's own boat ramps and dock. This place is a dump. They didn't have yelp for reviews so I took the time to create their business just to help prevent anyone to not waste their money. We were in cabin 16. Our air conditioner didn't work, they didn't provide anything but one crappy fan. The fridge and freezer are awful and don't keep anything cold. The beds are hard as a rock. It's definitely out dated, very unlevel and horrible decorations. Of course those things aren't priorities, but it did make for an eye sore, especially for 220 bucks a night. The staff is rude, and the only benefit was there's not many rules for quiet time, so if you're going to party it's the place to go because they're not strict. I should have taken pictures of the filth in the house, the vents that come undone with walking and you step threw them. But I didn't get pictures. Please don't waste your money here, there's hundreds of other campsites... shop around!!!! read more

This is our favorite restaurant on the lake. Friendly, clean, consistently good food. If your looking for a place to eat after a long day on the lake, this is it. Plenty of courtesy docks as we always go by boat. Never stayed there but would imagine the accommodations are just as nice. read more

I have been going to Possum Hollow since I was a child. It was always a delightful place to relax and enjoy beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake. A couple years ago, we visited with a large group of people, renting out 6 cabins at the lodge. We had a great time and have returned every year since. I recently got a call from Possum Hollow, after having a reservation made for almost a year, telling me they double booked the cabin I had already paid for, again, almost a year ago. They said the other party had the reservation first, which I find VERY hard to believe, since I made the reservation the Monday they checked out last year. To make the situation worse, we were willing to work with them to make their mistake right, however I was told they would not work with us to make it right, but they would refund my money, WITHOUT CHARGING ME ANY FEES. Obviously the reservations are not take in any organized fashion, and they are not willing to make their mistakes right. I would seriously not recommend making reservations here. I had a long standing history with them, and they treated me horrible. They obviously can't keep up with reservations, so it is a waste of your time to plan a vacation here. On a bright note, we contacted several other camps around the lake that only have one person handling reservations. I would recommend visiting a different place. read more

Very unique restaurant situated on the lake with a beautiful view and optional outside seating on the lake. I had the catfish special, absolutely the best catfish I have ever had in my life and all the portions were huge. The sides were coleslaw, home cut french fries and Texas toast and each one was sensational. My wife simply had the catfish sandwich and it also knocked it out of the park. The prices are more than reasonable and the wait staff prompt and friendly. The location is a little hard to find but absolutely worth any time it takes. I went to this restaurant with a group of 25 (2 tables of about 13-12). We gave them a lot of business, and were respectful and not rowdy whatsoever. We were given subpar service to start off, as multiple orders were incorrect. This wasn't an issue, we would have let this all go as often it's hard for restaurants to accommodate such a large group, but it was when we tried to pay that we ran into some of the rudest customer service I've seen at a restaurant. As we were a large group of college students, we had asked to pay for our meals individually which led to a large line at the cash register (i guess their P.O.S. system can't split checks like any other restaurant in this world?) and the hostess facilitating everything did nothing but complain the entire time. When I went up to pay, I was polite and friendly but was met with hostility. "Since y'all decided to split y'all's checks 25 ways, you're gonna have to let this gentleman go before you". On top of this, as the rest of our group was checking out, she was talking bad about us to other customers in front of us. Also, she decided to charge someone in our group for someone else's ticket ($68.00 as opposed to $14.00). Keep in mind, we were nothing but polite and respectful this entire time. Restaurants have their days, and I hope this was just a bad one, because if my impression of this restaurant was based off of my first experience here I would never come back again. read more

By far the grossest and overpriced Restaurant and Lodge there is. And the wait staff all excluding Kathy are terrible. Tara is a terribly rude and obnoxious woman who's attitude has soured my experience more times than I can count and who is the main reason I will never go back to eat there. She's unnecessarily rude when having to actually do anything at her job other than stand at the bar. As for the food, you're better off eating anything frozen from Walmart, because that's basically what you're getting for 3 times the price. Frozen mashed potatoes, frozen Texas toast, frozen rice, canned green beans, the pizzas are not stored properly leading to rotten toppings, low quality steaks, 9$ bottle of wine being served for 5$ a glass, frozen "margaritas" and "daiquiri" with no alcohol for 6$ a glass, their catfish isn't even real catfish but a cheap knockoff. I would never recommend this restaurant in a million years, unless you're searching for the best place to get food poisoning because the state of the kitchen is disgusting and I could tell that from the windows right by the register. I can't even imagine how gross the rest must be. I would also ALWAYS ask for a print out of my receipt because they love to overcharge people just for the hell of it. read more

The food and cabins are nice, and all but one server has been kind to me. However, they have the slowest food service I have ever experienced, and this is after having ate there several times. It is not uncommon to wait an hour for your food after you order. I will continue to stay in the cabins, but the restaurant wastes a big chunk of my lake time. read more

I've been going here for over 20 years. Excellent choice of grilled and fried seafood and catfish, King crab legs are especially good. Even a simple hamburger is done very well here. Great food and so much Fun! It's the best restaurant on Possum Kingdom Lake! Love the people there. They are friendly and helpful. Something is always happening, chili cook offs, prime rib and live music on Sat and the Christmas lights and decs are Amazing! Love this place! read more
