Perfect atmosphere. We are from Toledo and spending our first anniversary in Cleveland. After a long day of exploring parks and other attractions, we wanted a nice, low key bar to hit up before going to our hotel for the night. This place is amazing and the staff was very attentive and nice. We even sat down ironically, next to the owners, who gave us a guided tour of the awesome Halloween decor. This bar is super Duper fantastic. The Halloween decorations theme is the best in Ohio!! The staff is very very very cool and fun.. The food is very very good!! Beer is very cold!! Outstanding bar. Great atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly. The bartenders are gorgeous. There is this older lady that works there who is the sweetest old lady I've ever met. The place isn't normally packed like crazy but they definitely do have their busy nights. The music selection is normally 80's and 90's pop and Country. (at least thats all that was played the several times Ive been there.) The last two times, Cher came on twice both times. This was hard to get through but I managed. The music is at a good ambient volume and the overall sound of their sound system in the bar, is very crisp and clean. I highly recommend trying their main burger that's listed in their menu as "The best burger in Cleveland"- Its not only the best burger I've had in Cleveland, but the best burger Ive had in my entire life. No lie. Im a burger man myself and I have had a ton of different burgers from a ton of different restaurants but I have to say this burger at Post and Beam takes the cake. It's big and its a bit messy but just typing about it makes me want to drive over there and get one right now. Take my advice and go there! read more

The prices are great, and they really go all out with the seasonal decor. It's certainly a neighborhood bar on tie dive-y side, which is something I like. There are no windows, which gives its atmosphere great continuity. I'd give them 5 stars except the service seems to run slow, even though they usually have 3 weekend evening bartenders for a small place. That being said, the short haired lady does constantly patrol the bar checking on people, which is lovely. They have maybe half a dozen televisions but it's in no way a sports bar, and it's certainly not a hipster hangout (too authentic "bar," I guess!). I haven't tried the food so I can't rate that, but it looks and smells good, and the place appears clean. read more

The first thing I noticed about this bar was how dark this place is. You tend to ask yourself that there's probably better dive bars in the area. However, Post & Beam makes up for this with a simple menu, good food and funny regulars to strike up conversations with. The bartender Brandy was a funny entertainer who knows all the regulars and serves her customers well. I ordered pizza, which made at a separate pizza restaurant next door, which was delicious. My only regret is that I came here from out of town to run in the Cleveland Marathon the next day. The next time I come here, I'm going to order a big half pound burger and drink with these regulars. read more

Love the food! Staff is great! Disappointing that when the bar is at it's capacity the owner sits by himself at a four top table while the rest of us have to squeeze in... very inconsiderate! He lost a lot of business that night! So in the long run it is his loss because we went to another local bar that has great food and customer service! read more

Easily one of the best local bars to stop in for food and drinks. Staff are friendly although not always the most tentative since the bar is typically busy. The old jukebox makes the environment that much better. Honestly, it is one of my favorite thing about this bar. Bathrooms are clean although they could use a fresh coat of paint for an updated look. During October, I spend more time in this bar than the rest of the year for the simple fact that they have THE BEST Halloween decorations. Food is delicious and served quickly. Just a fantastic dive bar, with cheap bear, interesting people, and very good food with a big menu. Just about everything you need in a dive bar. this is not your hiptster type dive, this is a true dive. On a Sat. afternoon at 4PM, a sunny spring day though a bit cold, I went in expecting to see 3 people, it was packed. Dark and closed off to the world is this place, so once inside you will lose track of time -- and your life. It was the elite 8 for the NCAA tourney, and nobody could give a crap about it, I had to ask to have the TV turned to that station. The juke box, for old american standards and classic country is the best I have ever seen. And with the bartenders filling it up and leaving the choices for the crowd to pick, you get Dean Martin, Tom T. Hall, the 4 Tops, and on and on. I was blessed to have found this place for a few hours on a lonely Sat., after leaving, I felt reconnected to the world. I've been here a dozen times or so the past two years. Mostly summer time. Nice patio with two TV's. Service is always good and met with smiles by staff. Love the crispy wings and various salads. Burgers get great reviews by friends and I promise to try one soon. read more

I think the food and the cheap drinks here are what might make me comeback. But the service here is the worst I have ever received. I come in and no hello or hi or even the eye contact followed by a head nod. Just a bartender on her phone. Then I waited for 30 to receive any service at all. So I ordered a beer and a shot. Which must have meant, "find out what he wants but get everyone else's drinks first." So another 30 for 2 yuelings and 2 shots of fire ball chilled (she didn't even chill them). After bottling up ALLLLLL my frustration I ordered food to go and drank slow, cause who knew if I would ever see this bartender again. Our food came and the cook must have known not to serve us cause he gave are food to the people next to us, who already had food to go. Worst of all tho was that After we got our food we couldn't cash out because, of course the terrible bartender. For the record F this place. I was gonna give it 2 stars cause the food is great and drinks are cheap but overall I really hated this experience. I've been here 3 times because I wanted my bad experience to be just a one time deal but no. Service here is AWFUL!!!!! Don't support this place. read more

Glasses are dirty. Had to ask for a new glass, finally on the 3rd try bartender managed to give me a clean glass. Perhaps that is why they keep it so dark in there. Bartender inside was extremely rude and took offense because I refused to drink out of a dirty glass. Asked for a shot and she rolled her eyes and mumbled curse words under her breath. She said her name was Texas Donna. Decided to move to the patio. The server on the patio wasn't much better. Got a few more dirty glasses. There were 3 other tables on the patio. She kept serving other tables and just passing us by. Even after waving her down for a drink had to ask twice before getting a drink. Her name was Stephanie. I love the Post and Beam! If you are looking for a local watering hole with great food, this is it. The decor most of the year is dive bar influenced, however, during the month of October, they turn the place into the coolest Halloween-inspired place to hang out! They have custom made decorations and they go all out. It really is fun! During the summer, they decorate again in a Tiki bar theme that takes you to the tropics. The awesome Mai-Tai's they make help complete the transformation!! Besides the cool decorating, they really surprise you with excellent food. Their specialty is called the Beamer Burger and it's a huge pound of deliciousness. We've tried several other appetizers and daily specials while there and have never been disappointed. I've never had the Hippo burger (another house specialty), but I've been told it's really good. Yes, it's a dive bar, but the staff and regulars are very friendly and make you feel like you're one of the family. It's definitely worth the trip. read more
