We had a sweet visit to Potawatomi Inn this past weekend. Our days were filled with nature hikes, puzzle building, craft making, swimming in the pool, toboggan rides and eating in the hotel's restaurant. The pros: -lovely library room - best views in the hotel, cozy fireplace and apparently, we were the only ones excited about the library despite the hotel being fully booked -the craft room was hopping! It felt like this room should take over the lackluster/outdated game room based on the strong audience (it was hard to find a spot given how many folks showed up at 4:30 when the craft room opened). They offer ceramic painting, wood items, etc. at an affordable price point. -you can't go wrong with the toboggan rides (its what their most known for) -lovely hiking trails and fresh air The cons: -Our hotel room was easily over 80 degrees with no option to turn it down (despite it being less than ten degrees outside, we were all struggling to sleep due to the temperature) -the game room and pool could use some serious attention - both felt outdated and dirty -the restaurant felt like it had a lot of room for improvement. It was a buffet during both of our visits and there was always a long line of folks waiting to pay, be seated, etc. despite their seeming to be plenty of staff. They also weren't keeping up on bussing tables, etc. It felt like leadership/direction was lacking from this room. Ah, it feels like with some small tweaks and updates, this place would be a blowout five stars. read more

This is a pretty historic lodge. It appears to have been added on in block upgrades over the years. Think sparse before you go in. It's not a modern hotel. It's a lodge on a lake. Employees were friendly. There is a restaurant on premises. No lounge or bar. Room was okay. Bed was small. Hotel room rate does not include park entry fee, Lots of construction going on in pool and sundeck. This place needs a $25M makeover. Until then, a decent lake lodge. read more

Easter Dinner with reservations means waiting 40 minutes because of understaffing and then on top of that, the park charges you $7 to get into the park - and the front gate gal was very unfriendly as a representative with the park.I heard they didn't charge front gate entrance fee last year. We have stayed several times because we love the area and lakes however this inn is: Seriously out dated - rooms are dingy, dirty dilapidated and dull. The dining room does not offer menu service on buffet nights and offers the most meager options and NO OPTIONS for anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions. And then there's the front desk staff who are pretty unresponsive and incapable of of resolving any concerns in the moment.... We had a horrible experience with our last patio room as other guests had decided to turn the patio lawn into their private back yard including setting up a corn hole game and a volley ball net.. when we explained to the front desk that this overtaking of the patio space greatly reduced our enjoyment of our room they offered to "make a note for the manager." So far this stay has been a grave disappointment and our attempt at a relaxing accommodating visit, has been nothing but a frustration. Ps.... There is a dedicated volley ball pit on the other side of the Inn so as not to disturb other guests. **update - We expressed our concerns to a manager who offered 25% discount which doesn't even cover taxes and fees- she also implied it was our fault for not having said something about the situation sooner - epic fail even though we had said something last night** read more

We go here every year with our family. It has always been a blast but this past trip it was not. The pool area was dirty. Our room was dirty. The front desk staff was nice. They have a new arcade and it is HORRIBLE! The old arcade was a blast and was quarter based. The new games only accepts $1 bills. It's a complete rip off. Games were also unplugged. The prizes now suck and you cannot win! Do not waste your time and money! Our family wishes it went back to how it was before. read more

My wife and I stay a couple times a summer due to our home's proximity. We continue to go back because the park itself has provided great memories from one of our first dates. The views to lake James are beautiful. Unfortunately the front desk service is always below average. I've never written a review for The Potawatomi Inn previously but the front dest service people are rude and unhappy. They are consistent. The GM is the same way so it doesn't surprise me. The Historic Rooms are fine but the mattress's are also Historic. Toilet is 8" of the ground. Upgrade the service with polite, happy people and drop a few dollars on a few mattress's and toilets and I'll give the stay 5 stars every time. read more

The inn was very nice. The state of Indiana has a buy one night get one free in the winter months. I liked the game room. I haven't played air hockey in years. We didn't eat at the inn. We wanted to venture out to eat at restaurants in nearby towns. But I liked the dining room. Very hospitable people working there. The only thing I would complain about was the towels in the bathroom. They were tiny and thin. Indiana state parks need to update their towels. read more

If I could give zero I would have. I rented a cabin which was dirty and in the outside dining area of the cabin there was dog crap. I looked past this as I was there with my family. The outdoor dining space had a picnic table and right beside it an unsecured manhole. I was walking around the dining table and half of my body twisted and fell inside the hole. My knee was swollen, half my leg has deep scrapes and my hip hurt as a result of the sudden motion. I feel as though the problem lies with the age of the place (which is quite old my 90yr old grandma went there as a child) the safety standards have obviously changed and they haven't done any sort of safety checks to ensure the place is safe up to todays standards. I personally will no longer stay there and I've been going for 25 yrs. I don't trust this place anymore. The managers were rude and offered no sort of refund whatsoever even though I wasn't able to enjoy my last day there as a result of this incident. They don't care, you're a dollar sign and once they have your money they don't care. read more

A pretty standard inn, although better than I expected given it's associated with the park. It's certainly dated, but the photos online matched what we ended up staying in. I was disappointed that for the 3 nights we were there, no housekeeping service was provided, and the AC/heating unit in the room was incredibly loud when it kicked in. My husband and I ended up just turning it off so we could at least get a good night's sleep. We had family camping at the campground, and you really can't beat the proximity here. Aside from the convenience, though, it doesn't have much else going for it. read more

This is a wonderful place to stay , very clean rooms, great staff, the beach is beautiful. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards, so much fun. And the restaurant is really nice, delicious food, and buffets. And we had a really awesome waitress Mckenzie, she was so friendly and funny what a great personality she had, and knowledgeable about the fish we were eating. I grew up going there At Christmas time (for 20 years). It has really gone down hill. Staff was not friendly. The hot tub was not working. They did not have their normal buffet after the day of Christmas. The room's heat was not controlled. We had to sleep with the windows open to even be sort of comfortable. They wouldn't start a fire in the main gathering /game area. All around just a very disappointing stay at a place that my family and I used to love. We stayed at the Potawatomi Inn for a couple of nights this week. They require masks and practice social distancing while inside the Inn. We ate dinner at their restaurant one of the evenings. We ordered a Cobb Salad and two Pizzas. The salad was delicious and so was the pizza. They had a small hiccup with our order but overall it was a good experience. read more

Very kid friendly inn! Since I was traveling with kids I was really grateful and appreciative. If you are someone who wants to travel and not be around a lot of children then definitely stay somewhere else. My family and I had a great experience staying here! The grounds are beautiful! The inn offers a gym, laundry, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, game room and multiple places to eat within the inn. The staff was friendly and the decorations for Christmas were beautiful. The beds in the rooms are not the best. They are very hard with just a little give. I definitely didn't get great sleep in the two nights I stayed but that's really my only complaint. I appreciated all of the various spaces people could gather to chat, play games or watch a movie together. Very cozy space! read more

We have been going to Potawatomi Inn for several years now with family friends. This is a great destination for a weekend getaway. One thing to note, there are a lot children so be aware if you are not traveling with a family. The Inn offers many comfortable, common spaces to spend time outside of your room. There are two different areas with fireplaces and comfy couches. Many games and puzzles are available as well. Food wise - there is a cafe (only opened on weekends) and a dining area, however, we found delivery options in the area. There is coffee 24/7 in the lobby. The main attraction, at least for our visits, is the winter activities. The toboggan run is steps outside of the Inn. There are also a couple great sledding hills directly outside of the Inn. One bit of advice, they sell out years in advance! read more

Some rooms are historic- they can smell musty! Can create a stuffy nose and headache!

This was a great place but hasn't recovered from Covid. It is short-staffed and there are issues with heat in the historic bedrooms. The restaurant is sub-par. Understaffed and every meal was cold by the time it was served. Typical wait time over 4 days was minimally one hour from being seated to being served at every meal. Staff members are very pleasant but obviously not trained in how to serve. I hope they can get the facility back to what it was 10 years ago, but I doubt I would return. read more

Will never go back. Have been there 6 times for family reunions and this was the last straw. Totally disgusting rooms. Nonexistent housekeeping--see pics. Hotel room literally falling apart (see pics of screw found on floor and chunk of headboard missing). We paid $180 a night for an "updated suite." The bathroom smelled like mildew and the shower curtain never dried from the previous guests. I was scared I would contract some kind of foot disease from the tub. The restaurant at the Inn is a whole other disaster. 45 minute wait for take out coffee on a summer Saturday morning. 45 minute wait for water and coffee while dining in on Sunday morning. We ended up leaving before the food came. Additionally I understand this is a state park, but there was a raccoon sitting on a garbage can near the lobby at 11:00am--no fear of humans. The front desk said they knew about him and he's their "pet." My advice would be to stay at a chain hotel down the street and visit the park for the day. Bring your own food or eat at one of the restaurants/diners in Fremont. read more

Pros: beautiful location, pet friendly Easy access off I 69 Friendly front staff Cons: the bathroom was not well cleaned, there was dust in the bedroom. 3 people were booked for 2 nights and there wasn't any bedding for the sofa bed. The sofa bed mattress needs to be replaced, you could feel the springs. Housekeeping did not visit our room, therefore the trash built up (pizza boxes,etc from the restaurant). Yes, we could empty them ourselves, but there did not seem to be a large trash bin in public spaces. read more

absolutely terrible experience! we had our rooms booked for months. showed up and have been here since 2pm. it is now 5pm and we still do not have our rooms "ready". terrible customer service and terrible hospitality. when asked eta we were told 3pm. it's been 2 hours since then. we have been sitting in the waiting area with SIX children ranged from 8months-8years old. Everytime we go up to ask the ladies at the desk keep telling us they "don't know" and that they are "so short staffed" and have multiple people who quit "last night" we will never come back and will never recommend this place to anyone! look elsewhere! read more

We are local & decided to try their Easter Dinner this year. We made reservations for 2:30pm. We arrived 10min early, checked in & began our wait.....after 30min passed (its now 3pm), my husband checked with the hostess who proceeded to tell him that they hadn't even seated the 1:30pm reservations yet! We continued to see larger groups that came after us seated before us. Finally at 3:45pm...the last group of 5 people were called. And here we sat. Husband went to hostess who IMMEDIATELY decided to seat us. We were completely passed over this entire time. Oh....and she proceeded to bail & close her stand AFTER we walked past her. Once seated, we noticed they were starting to break down the food. Hubby and I went up to the buffet table befire they pulled the plug. At the carving table...Roast Beef...dry. Ham...dry. Hot entrees: fried chicken which had been over fried (dark dark dark coating) and sitting on the sterno too long. Canned green beans which melted in your mouth (over cooked), canned corn, mashed potatoes, and pasta primavera (awfully green peppery). The salad table was picked over, the broccoli salad was warm from sitting (should have been on ice), the rolls were hard as trailer biscuits, and dressing was watered down. The pie stand looking like a 3yr old had played in every single pie. The only pie you could actually get a slice from was a boxed overly sugary facsimile of a sugar cream pie. They were all cheap crusted store bought pies. To add insult to injury, 10 min after we were seated they started to dismantle the entire buffet set up. To say I got my $26.99 x 3 worth is pushing it. Pizza Hut's Pizza & Salad bar has a better bang for your buck that this overpriced nonsense called Potawatomi Inn. We really thought since this was a State Park Inn that they'd do it up right for the price they had the kahunas they were asking. Buyer beware. This Inn is situated on Lake James and is most likely the best lodging place of all State Parks in Indiana. I would stay in the INN and not in a cabin. The walls are thin so you hear everything the neighbors say in the cabins. The INN has swimming pools, restaurant and very nice lounge area with comfortable seating. Aaron, Operations Manager is OUTSTANDING when it comes to making the customer feel important. He took care of an issue we had better than we could have hoped for. We appreciate this INN and Park very much. read more

Wow, this place was sh!t hole! So many things were bad. First of all I only chose this dump because I wanted to tear up Lake James with 1989 Kawasaki 650 standup jet ski. Then I find out there isn't even a ramp at the park and I have to high tail it to Crooked Lake....which is the ironic part cause considering the money they took from me for this room at to pay to park in their lot, where someone chucked a Culver's cup at my 92 grand prix, seems like they should be on Lake Crooked. Well after the road chewed up my perfectly good tire, with just a hint of dry wall cracking, I rolled into my room with some Subway....boy I should have eaten it in the parking lot. There was that commercial on the tv talking about stink in your butt so I looked at the curtains but those were loaded with 99 years of snot on it. They had to protect the smoke detector with a cage so the bums that stay here didn't steal the double A batteries. The knobs in the bathroom looked like someone rubbed them out...it was disgusting. The shit#er had one bulb burnt out and when you flushed the toilet it blew your god damn socks off. My brother got up and blew ass between the beds in the middle of night, normally I wouldn't hear it but the bed was as soft as a pile of wood sh#t sticks. The pillows looked like a trucker rubbed them in his as$, there was chunky wrappers in every crevice. Oh and best of all, two of the towels had pre existing fart stains on them, I thought maybe my brother did it until he found one on his own towel. We went to the restaurant on site and the only thing I could find worth eating was a BL....yeah, you did not read that wrong...no tomato...I guess there is a embargo in Indiana. I ate one fry and a bite of dry toast mixed with the smell of as$ from the table next to us blowing farts. The pro's, at least the building on the outside looked nice and I enjoyed the free walking canes in the gift shop. P.S. the pools bottom was floating (yes floating) and the hot tub has so much bleach in it your face melts off like Indiana Jones. read more

Hello! This is a review of my experience as a server in the restaurant located within the Potowatomi Inn in Pokagon State Park. TL,DR: disrespectful management, longer hours than explained, inconsistencies across the board, poor morale from mgmt, don't even get me started on what the health department has to say. On my first day at the job, my trainer did not show up. I had to ask the cook how to open the door and turn the lights on. There were people lined up at the door, and with absolutely zero training, I took scratch orders for the kitchen to make. By the time a manager had arrived, they had to focus on entering orders and cashing people out, as it was MY FIRST DAY and I didn't even have a login for the computer system. The next day I was taught how to open and close the computer system, and I never received any training further than that. All of the other servers (I had only met two) walked out just a few days after I started. I soon began working 50+ hours, despite having been advertised a 29 hour MAXIMUM work week. For this reason I stuck around, because on the one day off I had, a manager had to serve. That is how understaffed we were. A couple weeks in they hired an extra manager who claimed to be reputed for "fixing" kitchens, specifically in state parks. She tried to hire people but most people didn't want to stay. We were so under-staffed that I asked my boyfriend if he'd like a part-time job. It's lucky that he was willing; right after he started, the night cook (who'd worked for them for 4 years) put in his two weeks' notice. Speaking of the kitchen -- the sink for the cooks had a non-working soap dispenser long before we got there, which was never fixed. (Yes, the cooks aren't washing their hands!) My boyfriend had no kitchen experience -- I was regularly fielding calls on how to do certain things, basically working extra off the clock. I would have to answer these questions because the managers, knowing his lack of experience, regularly left him alone to field problems and learn how to cook things on his own. Once, when told what he was supposed to make for the dinner special that night, he mentioned that he had never made anything like that before and had no idea where to start. The manager whom I mentioned was hired to "fix up" our kitchen told him to google it. Ultimately, it was that level of disrespect that made me leave. I can deal with rude customers but there's nothing I can do when it's coming from the management. I personally heard it to my face (in private) and have been told by a coworker that they had also heard my manager say the "r" slur. Right after they updated & expanded the menu, I asked when we were getting trained on the new items. I was told, "I thought you guys could read." ....Not all of my coworkers can read. I only asked about our potential menu training because when I ordered a new item, each cook prepared it differently, and then proceeded to tell me that that was how they were trained to make it. These inconsistencies made it incredibly difficult to properly serve my customers, which was frustrating. The final straw came to one day where I entered the kitchen (expecting my table's food to nearly be ready), to see my manager standing there and multiple tickets hanging off the printer, unseen. When I pointed this out, my manager aggressively told me that it was covered and I needed to "go back out front where I belong." I took this as completely inappropriate language in a workplace setting, especially coming from a superior. I decided to leave early but he demanded I speak with him first. When I presented my issue, he argued further and when I asked if he was dismissing me, he confirmed. I told the managers of the hotel and they let me go home, and called me later in the day to ask that I come back in the morning. I will say, Emily (GM) and Taylor and Tammy (sales reps) are absolutely wonderful to work for. Unfortunately the direct management over the kitchen is poor, if even existent. I saw multiple people who had been there many years either leave, or pull their hair out with complaints every single day. I advise anyone wanting to start a long-term job/career to not work here. read more

The Potawtomi Inn is like an Indiana Parks affordable version of The Kellerman In from Dirty Dancing. Lake Frontage swimming, shallow pool in the basement for water polo or Marco Polo, a kids craft room to paint wood items, arcade, fitness center, big dining hall and a lighter fare nook. Rooms are mostly in horseshoe section - large trapezoidal rooms w 2 Queen's and room for rollaways. Plus it is in Pokagon State Park with cabins, horse and pony rides and more. read more

For my birthday back in March, I received a gift card from my in-laws for a weekend away at one of the state park inns. My husband has been to most of the state parks throughout his life, and stayed at a majority of the inns. He chose Potawatomi for our weekend away, and I absolutely loved it. We really made the most of our weekend there, because there is so much to do at the park and the inn! When we arrived Saturday, we checked in and took our canoe out on the lake. The lake was absolutely beautiful, and even though it was busy during the holiday weekend, we were able to safely canoe for a couple of hours. On Sunday, we went for a 3-hour hike that morning on a good majority of the trails on what I believe was the eastern side of the park. I was impressed by the variety of terrain, and the natural beauty of this park. We also brought our bikes, and saw many trails, but didn't end up making time for a bike ride. We planned a picnic for Sunday afternoon, and set up near the lake on the inn's lawn and had a wonderful time. On Sunday night, we watched the sunset on the upper patio, and moved down to spend time near the firepit once it got dark. I thought it was neat that there was an indoor pool and hot tub also, since we were pretty sore from our hike. I loved this state park, and this inn, and can't wait to go back some time again!! read more

I was so ready not to like this place. Boy, I was mistaken! People were so nice. The surroundings were beautiful. Hiking trails were abundant. And I'm still craving their Chicken Noodle Soup. It's the best I've ever had!!! The rooms were a bit rustic and could use a bit of updating but it's a State Park so it was far better than anticipated. (Better than the room at the Yosemite Lodge in Yosemite State Park). Some rooms have a patio, which is a nice outdoor space for gathering with friends. Did I mention the free WiFi? That was a surprise. We gathered at the firepit every night with some wine and watched the stars. It was perfect. I'm ready for another serving of that soup! read more

Being at the great state park of Pokagon was a new experience. While the weather did not permit for us to partake of the activities that the park had to offer, we did venture to all parts of the Potawatomi Inn where we were staying for the weekend. The room was regular. There was nothing exciting about it except that it had two sinks. One outside of the bathroom in case you needed to use it while someone was in the bathroom. That was unique but the yellowish colored water that was a norm through the faucets and in the toilet brought down the experience. The heating and air conditioning worked great, but was extremely loud and disrupting if you are looking for a peaceful, quiet environment. Because we were there for a conference, we were able to eat in the dinner for our meals. There was a variety of food and a different theme reach day, though it was not outstanding food. On Sunday they did bring out the breakfast station for omelets and waffles. That was good. Overall the experience did not stand out in any positive way that would make me tell a friend, but it was not a bad stay. I will definitely be back to partake in the outdoor activities. Maybe that will make me raise my outlook. read more

I have visited Pokagon and Potowatomi Inn several times, but this was my first time staying here. The building is beautiful from the outside, the park itself full of trails, beaches and activities, and the scenery is always nice. We originally booked a new room, but upon arrival and entering our room, we quickly realized that is not what he got. To be fair, we did ask in the comment section of booking if it were possible to get a lake view. There was no clear indication of layout, and I would have preferred a newer room to the view. First impressions were a major disappointment. For what is charged per night, you're expect your room to AT THE VERY LEAST be clean. That wasn't the case. There was dust, dirt, hair pins from previous customers, and even mold. The furniture had what appeared to be teeth marks chewed into it, and as other people have stated, the finish was worn away. The walls were covered in scuffs and smudges, one of the frames for the 3 decorative pictures in our room was broken, one missing its glass entirely, the bed covers lackluster and minimal, the bathroom gross (the ceiling was coated in hair from god knows when and the tub was disgusting) and the carpet contained a variety of odors and massive stains. There was no mini fridge, no microwave, no iron or ironing board. Although we were brought an iron (that leaked) and board when we asked. There was a very small coffee maker, but we decided to not use it for fear it was cleaned as well as the room had been. The beds were the most uncomfortable that we've ever stayed on. Coming from people who've visited various hotels from coast to coast, we have slept in our fair share. Even our son woke up sore. The heater kept malfunctioning, so I was up every hour or so to adjust it to keep from freezing. The toilet paper was HORRID...so bad, in fact, we stopped at a local store to purchase our own! The water pressure in the shower wasn't consistent, neither was the temperature. We ended up getting scalded a few times when people in other rooms used their water or flushed their toilets (which you could clearly hear through the walls)...for that reason, we had to time our son's showers to limit the possibility of him being hurt. The game room, art room, work out room, and dining hall were all closed due to covid restrictions....without warning prior to booking, and the library contained no books. People who had brought dogs left them in their rooms to bark incessantly while other people allowed their kids to scream and run the halls all hours. I have to say, this is probably the most dingy, uncomfortable and all around disappointing hotel we've stayed at...only second to one in Niagra Falls. The one star is solely given because the front desk employees we dealt with were so incredibly friendly. I was really hoping to start a tradition of coming here, but we will spend our money in a hotel that actually cares not only about their facility, but the people who stay in it. It's sad to see a place with such history and potential be mismanaged and run down. read more

As far as state park inns goes this is one of my favorites. Not many state parks are situated right on a busy, beautiful lake. We used to come here a lot when I was a child, but I had not been back for a while. Surprisingly it was very much like I remembered, and that is not a bad thing. Potawatomi has been a timeless classic. The rooms may seem a little dated, and the those spaceship sized showers are probably my only complaint. Other than that it was a great stay. Pokagon State Park offers a ton of activities for the whole family. We stayed two nights in the Inn on Labor Day Weekend. It was admittedly very busy and we expected that. The first day we got there we took our canoe out on Lake James, which is just a few hundred feet from the Inn. There is a beach for the guests and a small dock with boats that can be rented. There is a little access road that can be driven down at the back of the parking lot of those who do not get around very well, or people like us who had to unload a canoe. The lake is fairly shallow in the parts around the Inn and it is a little choppy, but its a nice, clean lake. Perfect for those hot summer days. Pokagon also has plenty of hiking, a riding barn, another beach on the other side of the park, and plenty of places for bike riding and picnics. The Inn staff was all very nice and our room was clean. There is a buffet style dining room throughout the week, as well as a cafe that operates on the weekends. Went Camping here for the 1st time this Summer - my Star are just on Restaurant - Campground will b a Different review but was excited after eating camping food for days 2have a good Lunch w/Fam that I don't have 2 cook! There for was ready for good meal even if expensive - & there was no wait & only like 3/4 tables of people in restaurant so got seated quickly, & I ordered the Steak Somethg that said it came w/gravy & Mushrooms I believed it- I was advised U get 2sides & Me & my husband wanted Mashpotatos w/our meal & they said they were out of Mash potato's ? OK - I Asked for my Steak w/Gravy stuff on side cause didn't thk I wld like it & it cooked Med. - it came out Well Done & Smothered in the Gravy!. Normally I try 2 Suck it up & eat stuff cause don't wanna chance sending bk 2 the kitchen but at $20. - Didnt exp best but said ahhh it's Way over cooked & they have NO A1 & Gravy crud ALL over it- they took it bk & brought me Another Steak WELL done Gravy on side- So I choked down Cple bites & made due w/my side salad w/really nothing in it & Soup which was decent (& paid ext for that) Threw Steak away!. My kids, me & husband had waters, & pops- & they Needed a Refill the Hole Meal & had 2 ask other waitress & bus boys for a refill - we had a Stack of like 8 Cups 2ft high & kids plates for 45min on our table like it became a Joke with 4 other people in restaurant can we stack our plates & Cups almost 2 ceiling b4 ANY takes them off the Tables!!.. So long story but Food NOT good, Service NOT good, Lunch w/2adults & 2 kids arnd $100. - & food thrown away after sending it back once, Begging for drink or to take Somethg off table?!. NOT worth it! Granted we went on a Wednesday evening, however the staff was prompt, courteous, smiling and didn't make us feel rushed even though it was 7:15 and they close at 8. The salad bar stayed out the whole time we were there and was tended to. The vegetable soup was hot, smelled great and tasted even better. Salad bar had so much to choose from. Our bourbon steaks were cooked perfectly at medium. My sweet potato waffle fries we amazing. The view out to the lake was beautiful. I will go with a previous poster and agree it reminds me of the dining room in Dirty Dancing. The decor is spectacular with wood canoes and boats. And so many pictures, articles, and writings on and of the history or the Inn. I can go on. We will return this winter to go on toboggan run. Thank you for a memorable evening. read more

Don't know where to begin with this place. If it wasn't for the location this place would be a ghost town. Times are tough for this Inn. Our family has been coming here every summer as a family get together weekend for about 10 years. The last 4-5 years it has slowly deteriorated to where we will never stay there again unless the rooms get some serious renovations. Peeling wallpaper in the bathrooms. Black dust or soot on the ceiling. The smell of urine or mold or both is pervasive in the room. The AC barely keeping the room tolerable. Very Humid in the room. My Brother in law had water in the light fixture after an overnight rain. Beds are hard as a rock. If your room has a pullout couch don't expect to use it as a bed unless you bring an air mattress to put on top. Not at all worth what they charge for the rooms. Staff is nice. Lake is pretty. That's the nicest I can be. read more

Great place to take your family for a get away. The indoor pool was great. The tobaggon run is a lot of fun and affordable. Great trails to walk or cross country ski on. A few different places to eat on site. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite small. They seem to have a problem regulating the heat. Our room was cold and seemed to blow cold air. Our friends room was hot and with the heat turned down and a window open, it was tolerable. The bathrooms do not have heat ducts, but do have a heat lamp. One unexpected charge was paid admittance into the state park. It is not part of the hotel charge. read more
