The first time I have had a "Pot Belly". It was delicious. Ordering online was easy and it found me at the UVA Hospital. So good.

Disclaimer: I have eaten at over a dozen Potbelly locations in my lifetime. I'm a huge fan of theirs, I always order the same sandwich, and I wish they would open one in the Hampton Roads region. Well... now that we got that out of the way... this location was horrible. I showed up on Memorial Day after finishing a 6 hour hike at Old Rag. Believe me, I was hungry. The staff looked totally disinterested, maybe business was slow that day. I was the only customer in the building after all. I ordered a big Mediterranean with chicken on wheat. So the girl spread the hummus on the bread, added the chicken, and rolled it through the oven. She ran outside to greet someone she knew, I saw her hand out a cookie to a kid, which was nice. Sadly, my sandwich was sacrificed. The guy had no idea what he was doing. He asked if I wanted all the toppings, I told him no mayo, no mustard, everything else. Now I couldn't see it, but when he handed the bag to me within a minute, I thought that came back pretty fast. I paid my 13 bucks for the sandwich and drink and took a seat outside. As I unwrapped my lunch, my sense of concern was realized. He not only left off the hot peppers, he left off all the other Mediterranean sandwich toppings. No feta (which is supposed to go in the oven), no cucumber, no roasted peppers, no artichoke hearts. I decided not to ask for it to be remade, I didn't want an issue. So I asked for the Mediterranean toppings, a lady put cukes, peppers, and artichokes in a plastic cup. Still no feta or hot peppers. I decided to take what I could get. Oh and if you want more proof they don't pay attention to detail, the tomatoes on my sandwich were from the ends of the fruit. That's right, I had tomato stem in my sandwich. This staff needs training today. Not next weekend, they need it now. I'll go back to Potbelly again. But not this location. If they don't care, they're not getting any more of my money. read more

I love Potbelly's Sandwich shop, their Italian sub with everything is my favorite. Also you have to try Zapp's voodoo chips, they are insanely good and Potvelly's is how I got introduced to those kettle chips. They are a mix of BBQ and Vinegar. If your looking to visit this place, you'll have to park in the Standard parking garage and because your a Potbelly's customer first hour is free, I realized that after I paid to park (there was a sign right near the ticket kiosk). I loved Potbelly's when I lived in Chicago, but this location is the worst. They routinely get orders wrong, the staff is indifferent at best and surly at worst, and quality control is lacking (see pic of the nasty tomatoes in my salad). This place either needs to get straightened up by corporate HQ or closed down, because it's harming their brand. read more

I've been here many times over the past few years, and it feels like each time I'm always disappointed. If it wasn't within short walking distance from work, I would have given up on them a long time ago. I have officially sworn off this location of Potbelly now. Ever since there was many management and staff changes a year or two ago, this location has gone downhill. The staff now is ALWAYS so rude! My coworkers and I order online, and I walk down the street to go pick up everything (usually between 3-6 orders). The orders are never correct. Always missing items like cookies, drinks, etc. Tired of having to double check each bag to make sure everyone got their stuff because the staff is too incompetent to do it themselves. Also! Since I am carrying so many orders, I politely asked for one of the bigger bags that has a handle. The employee (pretty sure he is management of some sort too) straight ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME, and make a disgruntled noise. Like wtf.... customer service here is TERRIBLE. They have had way more chances than they deserve simply by being located nearby. Food is barely mediocre at best, not worth it. My coworkers and I will no longer order from them. read more

This is a newer location and you can tell. All the decor looks great and it's clean inside the restaurant. The downside of being new though, is that they're slow. It's a snails pace to get food ordered. Also, everything is measured out exactly as prescribed, so no extra meat for you. Once you do get your food its good, but it doesn't blow anything out of the water. read more

I hate to say this, but I was rather disappointed with the sandwiches at this place given they are priced in the gourmet price range. I'd like to see less butter on the outside toasted sandwich (I understand why they do it, but it made the sandwich bit too greasy for my liking). I'll come back to try the subs, but on first review, it unfortunately did not blow my mind. read more

We came for a pickup order on Saturday. We arrived a couple minutes before the pickup time, but they hadn't started on our food. When they started making the order they let us know that they were out of meatballs to make the meatball subs, which was what my boyfriend had ordered and was looking forward to having. They noticed he was a little let down, and offered us free cookies and coupons to come back. They completed our order quickly after starting, and it was pretty delicious! The pizza sub was something I'd never tried before, but it was the right balance of tangy and fatty, and the uptown salad was a good balance of sweet and bitter with some crunch from the fresh fruit and nuts. I am a huge fan of potbelly and have been eating there for my whole life. This location is a disgrace to the great Potbelly name. I have been at least 5 or 6 times in the past year and never once have they gotten my order right, in person or pickup. Since when did potbelly change their toppings to where when I request "everything" that now means tomato lettuce and Mayo? I don't know how asking for every topping can be misinterpreted especially when I'm looking u in the eye in person. I go to that store for those peppers and was sorely disappointed to discover their absence. read more

Good sandwiches, the meats are very high quality but way too much bread and toppings with really not enough meat on the sub. The downside is that location is okay, but you have to park right on Main St to get in and nobody wants to park on that main road and sit inside. Best to order, run in and get it and take it home. read more

So, this location website, Facebook, Google and covid up date says their open until 11:59 Friday and Saturday. During work, (I work in public safety, who knows when dinner time is.) Heard about this place when their ad popped up on my Facebook page. The place surprisingly wasn't that busy considering it is in the UVa area and it is still fairly new. I ordered the Turkey breast sub. The bread was toasted almost perfectly and the sub tasted great overall. The chocolate cookie also tasted great. The food there definitely was worth the $15. I would highly recommend and would definitely come back if I'm in the mood for a good sub. read more

I ordered the Farmhouse Salad and the Turkey Club Sandwich. The servings were generous. The salad was cold and crisp, everything was fresh and not wilted, the ingredients and the salad dressing were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised with the Turkey Club Sandwich. The bread was hot and freshly toasted, and the sandwich was delicious. The quality of the chicken was top notch. I loved that the pickles were thinly sliced and cold. Extremely disappointed with the quality of food here. I used to eat at the one in Crystal City all the time years ago and loved it. I was really hoping to love this one too. I had a turkey sandwich and my daughter had the Italian. The lettuce and tomato on mine did not taste fresh at all and there were very little of anything actually on my sub. My soda tasted like there was cardboard in it. Both subs tasted bland and unappetizing. Neither of us even finished half of our small subs. Overpriced and not worth it. read more

I saw the name and assumed 4 stars from previous experiences with this chain...but after after a poor experience I now see that this location has 2.5 stars....and I agree with the low rating. Closing time says 9pm.... that's when the crew plans to be completely done shutting down the restaurant, closing time is actually around 8-8:15PM. After 8, there is no Mac and cheese, soup or salad dressing. The other surprise was that after being told there's no Mac or soups, therefore ordering a salad, the salad got made, then told there was only fat free salad dressing. Which I did not want! Unfortunately I am staying at the Hampton Inn across the street all week. I will definitely look for other options! read more

I used Potbelly's catering service for a business lunch and it was fantastic! The sandwiches were delicious (delivered as scheduled and still warm... and the bread is amazing) and they were all individually boxed up with chips and a cookie for each person - very convenient. I ordered via Doordash so I cannot spiral to interior of the establishment. We order an Italian sandwich, custom Mac n cheese, and combo of 1/2 chick salad and cup of broccoli cheese soup. Everything was delicious. My only complaint is that I paid for extra chicken salad but pretty I did not receive it. Will order again. read more
