Burger is absolute top notch. Their wagyu patties are really good. I do think the sauces and fries might be a little too salty but I think it's ok. In terms of services, if you sit down at a table, a waiter will come to you. If not you can just approach the bar section and get your burger ordered there. It's hectic but the waiters do their best to help you. Even though the surrounding is crowded, it is quite lively and the music is also pretty good. They were playing a lot of kpop music when I was there so it's nice to hear some familiar music. I suggest going early so that it don't get too crowded but you can always just get takeout

My friend and I sat at the bar for a late lunch! I have been to two other Jack Brown locations and was excited that Cville had one. I ordered my favorite burger which is the Greg Brady with sweet potato fries. Food came out nice and hot and comes with that delicious thousand island sauce. Burger was cooked and seasoned beautifully. The bbq chips and mac n cheese that comes on top of the burger made it a masterpiece of a burger. Sweet potatoes were nice and crisp. Always a solid place for some burger and fries! I didnt have room for any fried oreos but those are also really good. My friend was happy with her burger and fries as well :)

I was on a school field trip as a chaperone in Charlottesville. Two of the other chaperones decided to go in this place for burgers. It's got kind of a dive bar feel to it, although it was very clean. The service was great, patient and full of knowledge. The burgers were fabulous! A ton of creative and well-made options. The only bad part of the experience, was that they have a chandelier with a bunch of bras hanging from it, which normally wouldn't bother me, but was somewhat awkward when four high school students of mine decided to eat there also. I absolutely recommend this place when in Charlottesville.

Just want to update that this place is still the best burger in town!!!! Not sure why I have to say any more. I had the Tuesday special. Just ooey gooey cheesy deliciousness!!!

Yelp led us to the only open burger place (on the mall) on a Monday afternoon, and JB's didn't disappoint! Super friendly service and a fun divey ambiance. The Dr Gonzo hit the spot - they don't offer lettuce or tomato on their burgers; quirky but still delicious.

Left- dr. Gonzo. Right cobra Kai! Great

Hole in the wall burger joint of the best kind. Plenty of character. Bet there's a good story behind every one of those bras. Limited menu cause it's strictly a burger joint. Regular burger menu plus a daily special one. They did substitute American cheese for me for the Monday special which I appreciated. Wow were those burgers good! Perfectly seasoned & cooked just right. Juicy. Messy. Crinkle fries good, made better with their house sauce to dip 'em in. Definitely not the place to linger, cause they've got those uncomfortable backless bar stools though. They do have outside seating too. One bathroom. Small place. Glad we stopped in on a recent Monday for lunch before hitting the road.

I may be a little bias as I absolutely love the location in Harrisonburg. That being said this place does that location justice. The interior of the bar is interesting to say the least. From the thousands of stickers that cover the walls to the bra chandelier it is truly one of a kind. Food was excellent. I tried the Elvis burger (with peanut butter) while that may scare most average folks this was truly something worth trying. Who would've thought pb on a burger would work? This particular occasion I did not order a beer but from my numerous previous experiences the options are truly endless. I constant rotation of brews from all across the region keeps the options limitless. Would recommend to anyone with a burger and beer obsession.

BLUF: Great food, fun vibes, would come again. Food (4/5): I got the Frankie Brady & The Elvis, with fries. The food was fantastic & the sauce was flavorful. The Elvis could have used some more jam to make it stand out more. The Frankie Brady could use some seasoning on the mac n cheese just to make it a little more flavorful. Ambiance (5/5): This is your typical dive bar: bras on the ceiling & bar stickers on the wall. It's a pretty chill vibe & def somewhere you can just go to chill & eat & drink. Service (5/5): Our waiters were really nice & they would tag team to make sure everything was good & get us anything that we needed.

Came here with a group of friends - they have the BEST burgers and a good selection of beer. The Dr. Gonzo burger is delicious - love a good burger with mushrooms and onions, really brings it up a level. The Mollydooker is also incredible if you come on a Monday to try the special. The burgers aren't too steep a cost for a sit-down restaurant. Only downside is they don't come with any sides, so if you want fries, they're a separate add-on. We came with a party of 8, so it can be difficult to get seating for your group, especially if you come at a busier time. Overall, a great choice for a good burger.

Great dive bar! Interesting beer selection and delicious fried Oreos to top it off. Glad we popped in here for a bit!

    Draft menu (#5 was good!)

I love this place so much. If you ever want a unique and slammin' burger and fries this is the place to go. Service is always great and the environment is nothing but inviting! Food also came out incredibly fast! My favorite burger is the chiflet, and if you like egg on your burger I DEFINITELY recommend! The fries are also a good classic crinkle cut and you also get a pickle on the side! Also make sure to try their sauce because it's great!

Fried Oreos are the best around. Staff is super chill. Has a good bar vibe. I would recommend trying this location out, when in Roanoke.

My Wahoo daughter brought me here during Family Weekend, and now I totally get why this place is a UVA favorite. The building itself is part of a beautifully restored historic industrial complex off Preston Avenue. It's an adaptive-reuse space (formerly part of the old Coca-Cola bottling works), and the design keeps that industrial character alive: tall ceilings, exposed materials, and a layout that feels open, social, and easygoing. The outdoor area is especially smartly done. They've got roll-down fabric walls and overhead heat lamps that keep the patio comfortable even when the temperature dips. It's basically an all-weather beer-garden vibe, and it works. Here's how our meal went down: * Shared starter: the Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel. Warm, soft, perfectly salted, and killer with both the mustard and the cheese sauce. * My entrée: the Local Steak Salad -- gorgeous presentation, tender grass-fed beef, and those pickled turnips, radish slices, and greens in herb buttermilk dressing absolutely tied it together. * My daughter's entrée: Bratwurst, which disappeared quickly, so that tells you what you need to know. Service setup is counter-service for food with table drop-off, and drinks are ordered directly at the bar. It's efficient, friendly, and gives the whole place an easygoing "European beer hall meets Charlottesville neighborhood spot" feel. Kardinal Hall is one of those places where good food, good architecture, and good energy all line up. If you're in town -- especially visiting UVA -- this is a must-stop.
