After 2 weeks of watching curling in the Olympics, we decided it was our time to give it a try. I cannot say enough good things about PCC. All the volunteers were incredibly kind and helpful. Our group leaders, Doug and Robert, could not have been more helpful and taught us so much about the sport. We fell over, we made mistakes, we asked questions, and we were met with genuine support and help. Such an inclusive place & sport - both from an accessibility standpoint (try stick curling if you're worried about your knees) and from an LGBTQIA+ standpoint. Visited for a Saturday Morning Breakfast Extravaganza and has a great time! The club members/volunteers were all very nice and helpful - especially Howard and Brian. They gave great instruction and made it even more fun to learn! Breakfast included scrambled eggs, tater tots, sausage, bacon, yogurt, and biscuits. I was honestly really surprised how much work they put in to prepare the event. After breakfast, we assembled teams and played a game. Definitely ask your club members to rotate throwing and get a chance to be the skip or throw the hammer. Sweeping was actually really tiring and throwing required some balance so make sure you warm up your legs, back, and shoulders before starting. Can be a good idea to bring a small bag to keep all your belongings together in the warm room. You can see the ice from there but just nice to keep it organized. read more

Came for the breakfast extravaganza today and had a blast! My bf and I are complete beginners and he's been wanting to try curling forever so I found this place on google and went with the Saturday breakfast option since it included instruction and a game. The only problem is it fills up ridiculously fast (like it opens at 8:00pm and if you try to sign up at 8:01pm it's full) because there are only 12 non-member slots. However, that slight headache was totally worth it! We started at 8am with an hour of instruction on the ice, which helped to practice and know the terminology. Definitely dress warmly for this part because you're standing around a lot! I had a hat, gloves and 2 layers on top and bottom and was still cold. Then we went in the warming room for breakfast and finished by playing a game (2 beginners and 2 members on each team). Playing an actual game was so fun and way more challenging than you'd think! Time flew by and we were disappointed to stop! You definitely get your money's worth as we played til 12pm. My only suggestion is to bring a water bottle with you. You definitely move more during the game and I wish I had mine handy. Afterwards people sat around sharing a few drinks and fun conversation. I really enjoyed chatting with the members and instructors - everyone is super friendly and willing to teach you things along the way. We will definitely be back!! read more

I had a really nice time here. They have four sheets of curling, so it can fit 32 (8x4) people curling at one time. The bathrooms are in the connecting hockey rink. If you walk to the bathroom by the cafe, those are heated. The "On Curling Now" sign is actually in the closest hockey rink. I spent some time trying to find it, but I was too embarrassed to ask where it was. My daughter is ten and she curled. I think they have a program on Saturday mornings for kids even younger than that. There is also a playground outside for the kids. read more

i had the same issue as one of the previous reviewers (hard to find a good time to come in for a beginner's session). soooo.... i booked the whole place for my 30th birthday celebration! i had a blast and so did everyone else in our party. we had about an hour of instruction followed by open play time with assistance from some very nice volunteers. it was a great price considering we had the place to ourselves. it is very cold so dress appropriately! there is a warm room with glass and screens for spectators. there is also a kitchen. we brought food/cake/beverages. they are very welcoming and i believe now they have some intro sessions saturday mornings. i can't wait to go back! it's a lot harder than it looks on TV, need more practice :) read more

I have found it impossible to get any ice time to try curling. They only have 2 beginner events per year and their season is extremely short. To sign up for a beginner event is like logging on to TicketMaster exactly when the openings are posted, and I have never been able to sign up in time. They don't seem to want new curlers/members very much. read more

I visited Potomac Curling club for a friend's birthday party a few months ago. I had no idea what to expect but the evening ended up being SO much fun. As long as you bundle up and are ready to follow some instructions, you will have a blast. It's also BYOB and you can enjoy your beverages freely throughout the club (except, obviously, not on the ice during lessons). All of the instructors were amazing and made the evening so fun for all of us! I would highly recommend visiting this curling club for a lesson or hosting a party here. I've been a member for about 4 years. I look forward to the season starting in October of every year--and volunteer to build the ice (we are an all volunteer organization). Lots of fun events and we try to get as many new people in (open houses, learn to curl events, and must Saturdays).
