Love their farm stand; was in the area a few times last year and stopped by to check them out. Also got fall pumpkins (early on in the season) and they last a long time. Produce was fresh and staff were friendly. Reasonable prices as well. I'd imagine it'll get trickier stopping by this season with all the construction but next time I'm in the area and they're open, I'll be ready to grab some goodies. read more

I first learned about this place from Chef Nora's book: My Organic Life. I wa thrilled to find it in my local Falls Church Farmers Market. I then learned that they have a CSA program! I Got my first CSA this past weekend and am super excited! They have plenty of vegetables, grain, fruits, eggs and chicken. The latter two are additional that you can add to your regular subscription. The owner lived in Hawaii before and has Chinese background which I really appreciate as I can get to try some Chinese vegetables :) not available anywhere else. The farming practice they adopted is called ecological which based on my understanding, is even stricter than organic farming. Check out this place for CSA. You won't regret it. read more

My family has a milkshare that gets delivered here. The milk is natural and unpasteurized, which can be hard to find. The products are sustainable, the people (when there are any) are nice, and the place has a pleasant, rustic feel towards it. I should let you all know that many times there is only a self-checkout option, so be prepared with cash if you want to purchase anything. My one suggestion is to improve their communication. When the milk delivery is running late, it can be unclear when it will arrive. Overall, satisfied! read more

I got the wooden business card of one of the business managers via happenstance - I was walking out of a building following a briefing and saw a lady delivering vegetables. I asked where she worked and if she had a card - voila! There I was. The stand was a bit of a disappointment - I was expecting lots of veggies and different varieties only to find a roadside lean-to that had some tomatoes, a few other veggies, and a cooler section with frozen grass fed meats. You can get more from a farmers market and I heard they do have a stand a couple around the area that offer a better variety. Perhaps I'll give them another chance there. But this? This place is awesome. It's run by three local farmers that sell fresh produce. The selection is not huge and variable, but the quality of veggies is unbeatable. It's 'ecoganic' (they are organically grown but didn't go through the governmental certification process, so they can't call it organic-- it's an honor system and I like it). The price is surprisingly reasonable. They also have farm eggs and a limited selection of frozen meat, as well as pies from Mom's Apple Pie Bakery. They are open from Jul 1 to Nov 1, closed on Mondays. You can get super high quality veggies and feel good about yourself for supporting local farmers. WinX2! read more

They deserve more than five stars for all their dedicated hard work in providing fresh, nutritious and clean produce to their community. You won't find their best produce at the stand, however. The best goes to their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) members and the Reston, Falls Church, Arlington and Leesburg, Takoma Park, Mount Vernon, and Purcellville farmers markets. read more

Our very first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and we're a fan! There's plenty of choices that you can get every week, and be prepared to grab extra vegetables (like tomatoes) when it's in season. Think of ways to preserve these through the winter, it'll be great! A bit of a background about CSA: You pay a set price per season and pick the time and place for when you'd like to do the pickup. There are three seasons: A shorter Spring and Fall season, and the longer Summer season. You also pick the type of CSA "packages" that you'd need. Whether you're looking for mini, regular, or robust size. And whether you'd like to include, bread, eggs, flowers, and grains in your weekly pickups. As a couple, we chose the mini CSA along with a weekly 1/2 dozen eggs. This is PLENTY. We eat out on the weekends and cook throughout the week. The mini is more than enough! Thankfully we try to work through all of the vegetables before the week's end have no leftovers. CSA is also a good opportunity to learn about vegetables and herbs you otherwise wouldn't pick up in a grocery store. Beware of allergies, though. I found that I'm deeply allergic to dandelion greens! A good lesson to learn, and adds to the experience to be honest. If you're picking up at this location, you can find the CSA room in the back of the farm. It's a little room with cooler curtains. There is a guide written on the board on how many items equals to your "package." Whether it's 6 items along with extra items, etc. Just follow this guide. Each item is marked whether it counts as "one item," etc. Pick what you need! Be aware that the farm stand towards the front of the farm is closed at 5:30pm. So you will not have anyone that can help you in case you come in later (pickup ends at 9:00pm). If it's your absolute first time, it's a good idea to come a little earlier and ask someone on site for help. Although, the instructions are pretty straightforward. Overall, a great program to get access for affordable farm-picked local vegetables. It makes a huge difference in our kitchen, diet, and health to be eating fresh vegetables. You can really tell the difference in quality. Your body will thank you! We can't wait to sign up for the Fall shares :) read more

This is an absolutely fabulous place for fresh produce. We also regularly get our Halloween pumpkins here. I can leave with a fair amount of produce for a more than reasonable fee. I would recommend coming here if you are a lover of tasty veggies. Great place to pick up some flowers in the springtime also. The workers are always busy but make time to give me a hand or advice on plantings. I truly appreciate this place in the heart of Vienna. I usually start nibbling before I get home. read more

I have been going there for at least 10 years and drive from Fairfax City each week during the summer. I stock up on the best tomatoes, corn, apples, watermelon and pies and always get their fresh cut flowers. Great place to mingle and share receipes. Going this weeekend. Yummy read more

I've been participating in this CSA for a year now, and I'm obsessed. My family and I purchased a robust share, and we eat every last bit every week. We are real-food eaters, but the organic grocery shopping was busting the bank. Also, I went to my local farmers market, and the prices for produce there WERE INDEED CHEAPER (as another reviewer suggested), but when I asked them about their organic growing practices, one farmer literally said "We spray the heck out of everything." Because I'm not interested in ingesting poisons, we are so happy to be part of this CSA. When compared to ORGANIC produce, this Ecorganic farm fits the bill. I loved 'getting to know' all the different type of vegetables that come in the bag each week. Their weekly 'In the Bag' emails are awesome, and the cook book that comes along with the purchase of a share is invaluable (new members only). It has helped me make several tasty, easy meals and utilize all the vegetables. As a rule of thumb, if I ever have left overs the night before a new share is due to arrive, we eat a yummy, home-made bone broth soup with all the left over veggies in it. My kids love it and my grandma would be proud. :) Finally, the farm has been very easy to work with. One example is when I was going out of town on a road trip a day before my share was due to arrive at my local stop. So I contacted the farm via email, and together, they arranged for me to come by one day prior and pick up my produce. It was great to dump everything into my cooler and head out with the family on our trip. We were able to eat our veggies and cook while we were out. What a great experience! I do garden a bit, and this farm has helped me 'expand my sites' on new veggies that I didn't even know existed. I tell my friends that I feel like I'm in 'veggie school' :) Finally, they have offered other shares as the season goes on. For example, they have a connection with an herb farm that grows organic medicinal herbs and herbal teas. I purchased this share for a reasonable price and will be getting my herbs/teas over the autumn season. I don't know if this is something they will offer every season (they made it sound like this medicinal herb share was a new thing they were trying), but in general, the connections they offer are awesome. Can't comment on the farmstand but their CSA is about as good as it gets. The regular share amply feeds two adults with hearty appetites, plus some extras to pickle or give away. They put a lot of care into packing their bags each week, to make sure everything arrives home in picture perfect shape (looking like stuff that you would be happy to buy at the farmer's market). The weekly emails always include tempting recipes and helpful storage tips. The "mix" is great too, just enough of any one type to make one meal or two sides for two people, with interesting stuff like sorrel, peas, and fennel mixed in with more prosaic swiss chard, cabbage, and potatoes. I don't subscribe to their flower CSA, but the bouquets at my pick-up are stunning. read more

We stopped here to grab some fresh veggies to go with dinner, this afternoon. The place is kind of easy to miss on 7, as you're heading towards Falls Church, until you're practically ON the site. It's not fancy and the veggies are pricey but it's also organic (non GMO) and it's supporting local owned businesses. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the girl that was working said the corn and peaches were 'grown conventionally' (and weren't 100% 'organic' - I'm not 100% convinced the tomatoes were, either) and the prices. Yes, veggies and stuff get pricier when you're dealing with local farmers but hey. You get what you pay for, I guess. Anyway.. we ended up getting some zucchinis, garlic cloves and red peppers that I was very pleased with. They looked great without the GMO 'too perfect' look, if you know what I mean. They did have some really high priced frozen meats in a back freezer, with some soups and stuff in a smaller floor cooler but for those prices, they better cook themselves. We decided against that stuff and stuck with veggies. Honestly, I think we'll just wait and go to the local farmers markets instead of here. It just wasn't quite worth the trip, for us. Oh...ugh.. the girl there *did* say that her 'mom' owns the veggie stand and that her mom also owns the bakery called 'Mom's something...I can't remember'. How sad..she was also complaining about how the other people who were supposed to show up and help neglected to do so and she had to run it all by herself today, so it was difficult for her. I felt bad for the kid but at least there really wasn't anyone there. Turns out the lady who owns Mom's Apple Pie bakery in Leesburg owns this veggie stand, too. read more

I joined the CSA for the first time this year and we are enjoying it. There are two days with a market-based CSA and I chose one of those. This allows me to pick the produce I want - rather than be given something I may not use. PVF uses growing practices that are even better than organic and I love supporting local farmers. I've already signed up for the Autumn CSA. The price is competitive given what we see at local farmer's markets - not cheap but definitely competitive. read more

Been a CSA member for years for their great tasting, ecoganic seasonal vegetables and fruits grown just outside the beltway. CSA also now can include bread, eggs, cultures and herbs. I also look for them at the local farmer's markets like in Falls Church and Arlington because their products are always outstanding and free of pesticides and hormones. read more

I joined the CSA and I am happy with it. The pick up location is convenient. I love trying new veggies and this helps me branch out to veggies I may not of bought at the store. It helps me eat healthier and fresh local veggies taste way better than veggies from afar. read more

This is my first year as a CSA member with PVF, and it has been a fantastic experience. We are a family of 4, and i signed up for a regular share with eggs and flowers as add-ons. I have loved this experience. The vegetables are abundant and of a very high quality. I am a pretty confidant cook, and the CSA has made me more creative in the kitchen. Highlights from the summer so far: onions on the grill so sweet and buttery that you don't need seasoning, yellow squash on the grill with a little olive oil, salt and pepper -- sweet and toothy, garlic ramps in traditional pesto, garlic ramps in a hazelnut pesto, arugula salad so peppery and sharp that I stood at the counter and ate half the bag without dressing, main course salads with coconut chicken, marinated flank steaks, grilled fish, so many types of lettuce that you can make your own mixes for the week. I used the fresh mint to make homemade mint chocolate Oreo ice cream and garnishes for caiprinhas. Last week we got a watermelon, so I pureed it, put it in ice cube trays, and used it for mint and watermelon spritzers (with vodka). I am a make-ahead person for the fall, and I was surprised by how much I was able to use from the CSA to plan for the fall. I have ten soups in the freezer so far (and have a month left until the summer CSA ends): Minnesota wild rice soup, eggplant and white bean soup, tomato and cheddar soup (okay, maybe I ended up eating this instead of freezing it as planned because it was just too delicious to save). I have 4 zucchini breads (two chocolate) in the freezer for fall breakfasts. The flower add-on to my CSA membership was a splurge, and I haven't regretted the indulgence for a second, gorgeous bouquets that have lasted so long I have needed to get a third flower vase. I was nervous about joining a CSA. I was worried that I would end up throwing food away or that I would be eating nothing but kale chips for nine weeks, but there was such a variety, and the regular share was the perfect amount for our family. Have been going to Potomac Vegetable Gardens to participate in their CSA program for the last several years, and have been very happy. Being a big foodie, I had always been intrigued by the concept of CSA, but was turned off by getting stuck with veggies that I don't like in the CSA bag every week--also a big hater of wasting food in general, so that just did not appeal. I'm not a veggie hater, but have some definite heavy dislikes, such as beets, which no matter what I do to them, just plain old remind me of eating dirt--I know all you beet lovers out there must digress, but what are you going to do. I fell into a cooking rut, and saw that Potomac Vegetable Farms offered a market style CSA which allowed you to go every week and pick what you like--SOLD! I had fallen into a cooking rut, and was looking to try some things that I wouldn't normally try and have stumbled upon some great eating as a result--trying stuff I just wouldn't think to approach in the grocery store: dragon beans, garlic scapes and rainbow swiss chard, and amazing amazing uncured sweet onions come immediately to mind. They present the CSA room in such a loving and enticing fashion, it is literally one of the highlights of my week as i look forward to seeing what's new and inspiring for the next week of cooking. Love their market style CSA. As others said, they are a bit pricier than farmer's markets and I do question if the produce we receive is as fresh as their stand. But I love their ecorganic practices, flexibility in pickup, and option to buy more. Their newsletter is informative and they offer tons of recipes for all of the veggies. I don't hand out five star ratings very often, but these guys are the real deal. As far as I know, some of their produce is grown right at the top of what we locally call "Blueberry Hill" (The hilly area just above the stand itself) and some is transported to PVF out from a much bigger Loudoun County Farm. The quality your getting honestly cannot be matched, especially if you live right in the area. It's open from July-November every day except Mondays. You can't go to a farmers' market 6 days a week. Truly, I promise that you will not be disappointed with PVF. They have great, friendly people working there and my family uses their produce in some of our meals. The prices are great too for being so local. read more
