I got the wooden business card of one of the business managers via happenstance - I was walking out of a building following a briefing and saw a lady delivering vegetables. I asked where she worked and if she had a card - voila! There I was. The stand was a bit of a disappointment - I was expecting lots of veggies and different varieties only to find a roadside lean-to that had some tomatoes, a few other veggies, and a cooler section with frozen grass fed meats. You can get more from a farmers market and I heard they do have a stand a couple around the area that offer a better variety. Perhaps I'll give them another chance there. But this? Not worth the drive.

    Yummy veggies!

Today I visited for the first time the Walmart Supercenter located near the Tysons complex of…read moremalls and mixed use (although I believe this is technically Vienna, VA). For those who are not familiar with this area, or with this particular Walmart Supercenter, here is a brief history and description: This store is located at 1500 B Cornerside Blvd, Vienna, VA 22182, and it is huge. It is the flagship retail anchor of the Tysons West commercial complex, a mixed-use development situated near the new Silver Line Spring Hill Metro station. Apparently, the facility was completed in 2013, and the store officially opened its doors on August 14, 2013. This location is designed with an urban-style layout to fit the high-density Tysons/Vienna area. This Walmart typically operates from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, though specific departments may have shorter hours. Since everyone is more or less acquainted with Walmart, I want to focus this review on a new line of higher-end products that can now be found (with degrees of success) at Walmart stores. I want to bring these products to the Yelp readers' attention because the products are surprisingly (and consistently) of high quality, also delicious, and most importantly, affordable! Bettergoods is probably Walmart's most significant private-label food launch in over 20 years. It was introduced in April 2024 to provide a more "elevated" and "chef-inspired" culinary experience at an accessible price point. According to Walmart, the Bettergoods line features approximately 300 products (they are adding more products on a regular basis) that categorized into three concepts: "Culinary Experiences" (innovative flavors like hot honey seasoning and bronze-cut pasta); "Plant-Based" (including oat milk frozen desserts and dairy-free cheeses), and "Made Without" (items catering to specific dietary needs like gluten-free or no added sugar). By offering trendy, gourmet-style items--most priced under $5--I think that Walmart aims to compete with premium retailers while maintaining its reputation for high value. The products are scattered throughout the store since some are shelf-stable (dressings, sauces, snacks, etc) while other are refrigerated (yogurt) and many are frozen (pastries, entrees, hors d'œuvres, etc). I have tasted all of the products included in my photographs, and they are indeed of high quality. Some are imported (like the berry tarts or the cheesy potato tots), others are probably private-labeled for Walmart. I encourage you to try these, and I think you may not be dissapointed! Of course, this is Walmart, so this store was very crowded and hectic. However, I was pleasantly surprised about the availability of parking (which was free when I went on a Sunday; otherwise, you get 2 courtesy hours) and how spacious were the elevators, which opened right inside the store.

Well, I drove 30 minutes to go to a Walmart Supercenter because I needed a large selection of…read moreitems. This is more of a LaCroix Walmart. It has a suggestion of items in each department. If this is a Supercenter, than I'm a supreme being because this was a shell of a Supercenter. Whoever named this Walmart a "Supercenter", is probably also "well-endowed" and you know what I mean.

I grew up eating dates, but only the standard ones you find in the grocery store (which are also delicious, never met a date I didn't like). But it was incredible to find such different variety, it's a date lovers dream, they really do taste different, all delicious. I bought a bag of each kind they had. Great to eat plain (good for snacks on the run) but also good for cakes, pastries, cookies, and even salads.

The shop usually has 5-6 varieties available to taste and compare including Khudry, Saggae, Safari, Sukkary, and Ajwa. The owner of this small business came out and greeted me and we chatted about a number of things including the health bemefits of dates, using dates in recipes instead of sugar, and the origin of some of her products, which are all wonderful. I was introduced to some of boxed dessert treats she carries, including baklava, and pistachios date rolls, and look forward to trying those another day. While Sahara Dates are available at Whole Foods and Harris Teeter I strongly recommend stopping by the store and supporting a small business directly. They will also prepare date platters, centerpieces, and gift boxes for you.

They have a variety of things, food, drinks, sushi, snacks, cosmetics, toys. There were also SO many small toy vending machines. It was very cool to see so many options. There was also a cafe and restaurant in the back. The cafe was popping and the line was long for their matcha. The restaurant was actually such a LET DOWN. I was expecting authentic Japanese food, but the portions were small and the meals were pricer $15+ and not that special. Beef udon: regular and I could've made it at home Beef rice bowl: their top pick, the beef was not tender, and it was dry. Really simple but not good. Oddly enough, they had the tiniest water cup that you can pour for yourself. It was like 2 gulps. I also tried some drinks. They have an assortment of Moshi brand drinks in a can. They are expensive, but so so good. The strawberry matcha was my FAV. We also tried their milk coffee in a can, it tastes like what you'd expect from coffee in a can.

There's a whole refrigerated area for ready-to-eat food like onigiri and katsu, along with a bakery, cafe, and a small food court area. My friend and I stopped by for lunch earlier this week. The markup is kind of crazy for cafeteria food, but he was really missing Japanese food from his recent travels. There's a variety to order from, and the food was served quickly after ordering. UNI IKURA RICE BOWL - 29.99 This was one of the current specials, and I love uni so I couldn't resist. There wasn't a whole lot of uni or ikura (half of the bowl was more so decoration items like sprouts, ginger, a whole leaf, and wasabi) with lots of rice underneath. The rice was the perfect texture, and after seasoning it a bit with some soy sauce, it was just right. The uni wasn't the most fresh, but the ikura was decent. Overall, good, but just not worth the price for what you get. My friend got a tonkatsu curry rice, a croquette appetizer, and a slice of cream roll cake for $5 less than how much I spent on my single uni ikura rice bowl. The tonkatsu curry rice was quite good, and only $14.98, which is really good for today's economy. If I'm ever back for the food, I'll definitely get the tonkatsu.
