The first and original wax museum that started it all. Miss Rachel gave me a brief intro before I walked around myself. She shared with me about the hundreds of hours it takes that is spent hand making these wax figures. This one, unlike the ones in other places is focused more on historic figures than mainly celebrities. They had people from all over the time line which I thought was cool. There were a few cool spots you could take photos with the figures as well. A few favorites were MLK, Beethoven and Abraham! Really amazing work they do here! read more

Potter's Wax Museum gives Madame T a run for it's money. This place is huge and has so many displays. I like the variety from all time periods so everyone can enjoy. Most of the figures were on point from the critical point in these great figure's lives. Not sure about the scale and heights though. The head and hands are wax, while the body is a mannequin. I enjoyed my time there are tickets were only like $15 dollars. Also if you purchase other attraction tickets there, you get discounts on them. The staff were very friendly and informative. It's been a few years since I visited Potter's Wax Museum and while I've always enjoyed it as a stop, they have really improved the experience. There are interactive barcodes throughout where you can learn about all of the figures. The spaces are now organized, put into categories and the space maximized to get the most out of your tour. You can even watch wax figures being made during your visit. If you haven't been for a while, I highly suggest you check out the upgrades. It's a different place, it's a must-do on your trip to Saint Augustine. read more

Great place! This was the first wax museum I have been to and I would say it was a great start. They had a lot of photo opportunities. They also had some informational signs telling the life and backstory of each person which depended the understanding of them. They had a lot of famous and familiar people. Wife and I went in on a whim and decided to take the tour. The owners were very friendly and helpful. My wife asked if they knew where we could get soft shell crab, and the gal called restaurants to find out if they were serving while we were in the museum. As part of the Ghosts & Gravestones tour, we stopped at Potter's Wax Museum, which was very cool to check out at night. The tourist attraction has a different energy from during the day, making all the wax figures all the spookier. From the moment you enter, you feel a different vibe that's quirky and macabre at the same time. I enjoyed the dungeon-like horror room part of the exhibit, which gives a dark, unsettling vibe if you're visiting at night. This is a really fun museum to visit. We got our tickets through the hop on hop off city trolly tour. When we showed up the museum was only open for 10-15 more minutes. The staff treated us like we were their first customers while letting us know they were about to close. This museum does not take a long time to go through, however you will be amazed at how many wax statues they have and how life like they are. I loved Ray Charles at the piano, the Presidents exhibit, Michael Jordan and the Friends exhibit. There are alot of statues and their likeness is spot on. I truly recommend a visit to this museum. You will be in and out, take lots of pictures and possibly relive some memories as you look at each character. read more

What a very cool freaking place. The Potter wax museum is the first one in the US which also makes it the oldest. As you walk in the door your greeted with a friendly smile from a nice lady as with us telling you about the museum. Once you buy your tickets she begins to make you feel a wax face on the counter an tells you now that you know what they feel like please do not touch the figures. She then tells you about the first, oldest an historical wax figures that Potter made right inside before you head on the tour by yourself. They are Very interesting an cool. As you walk thru there are some celebrities from today a horror room an then people from the past. It's amazing how real they all look. An when you look them in the eye it's crazy like they are really looking at you lol. There were so many wax figures from the beginning of Romans to Queens, presidents, inventors, an dictators. Please skip this place. It is nothing but a tourist trap. $10 a person is WAY to much. The wax figures were not realistic and honestly creepy. Not to mention there was a HITLER wax figure. Why do we need one of him and glorify such a disgusting person? There were no modern celebrities just old people which is cool if your into that but it's a bit misleading as it's advertised to see your "favorite" Celebrity. It smelled bad and just not a good experience. I can't imagine making these figures is easy but it's just so expensive for what it is. The only part I enjoyed was all the medicines. read more

This place was really awesome ordered tickets online and went through it later that day. A lot of great historical figures. Not just celebrities from the recent century. There were even wax heads of early presidents in the women's restroom. I just wish they had more figures in the horror section of the exhibit. it's not a Madame Tussauds but this place is super cool! We spent about an hour and a half looking around at the wax figures and reading all of the historical information with them. It was actually pretty educational. I really liked how they had such a good mixture of historical and current figures. The collection included Harry Potter, Star Wars, past government, etc. My favorite part was Henry VIII and all of his wives and daughters. read more

Potter's Wax Museum was our last stop in St. Augustine. It was well worth the $10 admission price. Currently housed in the country's oldest pharmacy, the exhibits are all so detailed. There is often an artist on site, but the day I visited there was not. Still it was interesting to see the work space of one of them. Many of the figures look so perfect, others, I don't know, there's something Off about them. I think what it is, is that little spark of LIFE that is missing. My favorite exhibit was the horror portion. The creature of the Black Lagoon and Frankenstein were both painstakenly re-created. They were phenomenal It's worth a visit. read more

This was probably the best tour we did in st Augustin. It is worth it, the variety and exhibit presentation was awesome. I would've liked to see more celebrities, they have a Britney Spears/Elvis Presley that needs work (it doesn't look like them at all). Most of the wax statues are pretty good. Finally pulled into this museum by my Mother-In-Law, we took our first look-see. As in ANY attraction in St. A - it costs $9 per person to get in. Watch out here in this town. Make sure you really, really want to see whatever it is you pull out your wallet for, otherwise you will find yourself spending no less than $100 x day going to see the sights. I have never been to a wax museum before and I must say it was eerie and creepy to be so close and personal to these statues. Some looked so real, some just looked creepy. My fav? Michael Jordan, he did look almost lifelike and this Chicago girl was impressed, I love MJ. Can I say go or don't go? If you enjoy this kind of thing absolutely go inside. read more

I enjoyed my trip to Potter's wax museum - I am a fan! It's good family fun and a little bit creepy. I kept half-expecting the models to move - they are very life-like. The signs were excellent - we learned a lot of new information about many of the historical figures on display. Reasonably priced tourist-friendly stop in St. Augustine. To the Negative Nancys yelping down on this place, I say, "of course it's a tourist trap, its a wax museum!" Some of it is out of date, but I imagine it takes a lot of time and money to make an accurate life-sized model of a person out of wax... why get rid of it after just a couple of years? This place doesn't seem to be getting rich quick so I imagine they don't get a lot of turnover in their inventory, either. read more
