If I had to pick between Bob's, Ashley Home, Raymour & Flanagan, I'd pick neither (No offense)- and instead be on the opposite end of the spectrum with Pottery Barn. Yes, larger items are several hundred dollars more than the stores I previously mentioned- but for my style, not having that catalog-feel look and their quality- I rather go for PB ANYTIME for furniture that I know will last. I'm obsessed with Pottery B. because their big furniture designs and quality elevate my home like no other. When it comes to smaller items such as linen curtains, bedding, home accessories and ceramics, I rather purchase online. When hubs and I want to make a big furniture purchase though, we primarily come to this location at The Westchester in Downtown White Plains or go to Westport to touch and see. We wanted a carpenter build us professional built-in bookshelves for an entire living room wall- but, came across the 'Aubrey' white entertainment center online instead. We stopped in here on a Sunday to see it up close and the rest is history. The reviews are correct about choppy service. That being said, our sales associate, Ana was with us every step of the way, was sharp and didn't make us feel rushed. Our piece will take a bit until we have it in our home- but that's fine. Obviously PB is a wallet-walloper, but think of furniture here as an investment. With that being said, Pottery B has a small clearance section called the 'Mirror Gallery'(?) stocked with mismatched chairs- you might get lucky and find an identical set, table mats, runners, end tables, vases and rugs. We found a $600+ woven off-white/super light powder blue area rug for $50. Yes it was dirty and yes I will pay $100 at the cleaners for cleaning- but it's certainly wayyy less than what we paid. I know you're supposed to get the all-in-one politeness package when you come to this PB especially since it's located at The Westchester- but I'm looking at quality furniture. read more

I chose Pottery Barn as our primary home furnishing partner when my family moved to the suburbs. Over the last two weeks, I've learned that customer loyalty and good faith efforts to remedy a problem simply do not matter. The Raleigh Upholstered King Bed is an absolutely garbage product. The bed frame itself lasted ~4 yrs before falling apart like composite board. More importantly, Pottery Barn - despite sky high prices - have no interest in maintaining happy customers. After wasting my time for over two weeks, I'm now being forced to engage a third party to repair something Pottery Barn itself acknowledges as a defect. 2 stars for selection and esthetics. Expensive for their case goods (furniture) because they are lightweight and feel cheap. 0 stars for customer store experience. Wandered into their westchester mall location. They were having a 75% clearance sale on holiday, winter and seasonal and odds and ends. I was never approached to ask if I needed any assistance. I was looking for a dresser and a bedside table. I had two quick simple questions for two of the employees and they acted uninterested and seemed bothered. They did answer but reluctantly. Left there shaking my head. Such a big turn off. Pottery Barn, you need to do better if you intend to stay in business. People shop for esthetics and value but they also shop and tend to return to places that make them feel good and feel valued as a customer. This in person store experience, cheaply made furniture, coupled with the horrible customer service ratings don't bode well for the continued success of Pottery Barn. read more

The in-store salesmen were fine, however, customer service is horrendous. I purchased a storage bed with a padded cover on the drawers. The drawer cover came off the second day I had the furniture. I sent in a repair request end of January. It took 4 emails and calls before I ever even received a response which was February 13th. It is now almost April 1st and have yet to hear back. I plan on filing a claim against the purchase price tomorrow. read more

I waited over 6 months for my curtain rods/finials and when I tried to return the unused finials past their 30 day return policy I was told by the store clerk to "have a garage sale". What?!! Can I give no stars or a giant keep away from here. Horrible horrible service, I ordered a sofa and chair on September 9, it's December 3 and they still can't tell me when they will be delivered. I called customer service several times, they say it still in the fulfillment stage and they will send an "email" to get that status. No emails are returned no one calls me back. PLEASE THINK before you purchase from Pottery Barn. I have received the WORST customer service I have ever received in my life from this company. Not once, or twice but 3 times I have had HORRIBLE experiences. Most recently I bought an $800 coffee table. It was delivered with a knot in the wood that was filled with putty that is cracking and peeling right on top. I sent pictures and have been waiting 15 days. I have followed up 4 times still with no resolution. I received an email saying someone will come inspect it and attempt to repair it. This is NOT something that can be repaired this is right on top of the piece and looks AWFUL! I will no longer be purchasing from pottery barn. Your customers should come first and your follow up and customer service needs MAJOR improvement. Customer Service should match the quality and price of the product. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered the Bedford Lateral File Cabinet. This is my third cabinet. All are/were defected. Customer Service refused to talk to me on the phone, Just emails and all they want is pictures of the defects. I did so the first time and they claimed they wouldn't fix it They sent me another and again, defected drawers and mechanisms. I again asked them to repair and instead sent me another. Again, defective.. They again tried to deliver another and I wasn't even home and had told them not to come and that I just want it repaired. Delivery co said I needed to again call customer service. I called Gayle at Pottery Barn who was the manager last weekend. Said she would call customer service because I refused to yet again. They tried to deliver another cabinet. Ordered a sectional sofa over the phone after visiting and having a quote done in store. When email for delivery came, only 2 pieces of the sectional showed ready. When I inquired about the 3rd piece, I was told no piece was ordered - only the slipcover for it. The salesperson ordered me a slipcover instead of a piece of furniture! It has been over 2 weeks and still don't know if they can sell me a "naked" wedge piece as that is normally not done, and apparently they don't have a slipcovered wedge that matches the 2 other pieces I ordered (although supposedly all is made to order, so go figure.). If they come thru and don't charge me, I may give back a star or 2, but not holding my breath. read more

Visiting the Pottery Barn at the Westchester was easily one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. I was there for about 40 minutes and Not once did any of the sales associates not ask me if I needed help, none of them even said hello. Horrible customer service here. Waited in line to buy a tray for over 20 minutes. Never enough help. Only workers at check out yet 5 customers waiting on line. At one point one of the workers left to show customer something and never returned. The remaining worker was handling a return and spent a good 10 minutes with her back to the waiting line of customers while she did something for the return despite that return customer having already left. I gave up and put the tray back myself and walked out of the store. read more
