I received a gift bundle for Christmas 2025.It was a mix of meats with marinated chicken.Chicken was wrapped in cello and butcher paper.It was fine.The rest of assorted bundle was freezer burnt due to double wrapped with butcher paperRib eye steaks were 1/4 in thick as in sandwich cut ,not as listed,brats were freezer burnt as were hamburger patties.Meat should have wrapped in cello and then double wrapped to butcher paper to prevent freezer burn.Last time for me! read more

Fraud!!! Labeling cheap cuts as expensive cuts. Know your cuts before buying from this place I asked for 3 T-Bones, he said they are porterhouses. I said "No no thier not" but bought them. Porterhouses require 1-3/4" tenderloin, which is what makes it a porterhouses. All they are selling is a New York with a bone at Porterhouse prices. I went in a week later, same thing. read more

I've been head over heals in love with Pottstown for many years, however, I will no longer be supporting their establishment due to a lack of customer service. When I phoned to inquire if they used soy sauce, (which contains gluten) in their sweet and sour marinade, I was put on hold and then yelled at. She picked up the phone and simply screamed, 'ALLERGENS SOY AND MILK! ' And when I started to inquire specifically if it was just soy or soy sauce, I was cut off to be yelled at, again, 'ALLERGENS SOY AND MILK!!! ' My partner has Celiac Disease and we have been trying to navigate this as seamlessly as possible, but when a food vendor treats you like you're a pain in the ass enough over a simple question to just yell the answer repeatedly until the customer gives up is just purely assanine and rude. read more

As a true carnivore, get the bone-in cut! This as a definitive Steak destination! Now, the rest of the story... Pottstown has the obligatory craft beer and special item sections, and who doesn't these days. They have an extensive chicken and pork section that is very popular with those who prefer the silver spoon approach..."you get the idea". The deli section has been a ghost town on all my visits. As another reviewer mentioned, the filets are made up of many small pieces of meat held together by toothpicks and a wrap of paper. I'm not sure the use of a filet like this, maybe only if you wrap them in bacon? It was much too unwieldy looking for my taste. Plus what are those scraps of meat that are put together to make a "filet"? The upside is the huge selection of great craft beers and cooking sauces and spices. Would be the perfect place for a gift for a cook or to pick up something new and different to add to the repertoire! read more

Thank you and Happy New Year to everyone at Pottstown Meat and Deli. Turkey, ham, and their fabulous dressing were a hit on Christmas Day. My wonderful Mom, now 95, is an ole' southern gal who has always been a MacGyver in the kitchen. Sadly, she no longer cooks. And, as often happens with senior-seniors, it's tough to get her to eat at times. Yet, just as it happened on Thanksgiving, she absolutely and positively LOVES the dressing from Pottstown Meat and Deli. Christmas Day she raved about the dressing and wanted seconds. A couple of her comments about the dressing: "Just the right amount of sage, not too much and not too little. Perfect." and "You can taste a little of each ingredient in every bite." She doesn't eat meat but trust me, the turkey and ham were, as always, outstanding. Even on their busiest days the staff at Pottstown are always friendly and helpful. Pottstown Meat may have good meat, but they lack friendly service. I ordered a standing rib roast and made arrangements to pick it up on a Saturday. When I picked the roast up I asked if I could see it. The butcher behind the counter made a face like it was an inconvenience. So I said don't worry about and made my way to check out. It was then that I noticed my package only had the price ($100+) and no weight. How long should I cook this $100+ piece of meat? I then went back to the butcher and asked him to weigh the roast. Not a smile, sorry for the inconvenience, or even a thank you for shopping there. The standing rib roast was good, but I had to retie it as the butcher did a poor job. Needless to say I will never go there again. If you want great meat and service go to Alwan & Sons or the Fresh Market. read more

P-towners will rave about Alwan Brothers, but barely mention Pottstown, which has a great selection of meat, more extensive frozen section, and better beer choices. Alwan's has vegies and other things and I'm a fan of both, but Pottstown location near Shuck's and the full deli certainly makes it worth a stop. read more

Of the 2 butcher shoppes in P-town, Pottstown is far and away the better market. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses but the thing that sets them apart from their competition is the accouterments like sauces, spices, honey, beer and wine. All their products are small batch and locally made. It feels more like a home town butcher shoppe while Alwan and Sons feels more like Walmart's meat shoppe just in a separate building. It's the only place I buy meat now. read more

Love Love Love this small sized butcher shop with big time charm, deli and meat selections. They also have wine, breads, marinades, spices, sauces (bbq, steak) snack chips, pickles & sweet treats (fresh baked cookies) and drinks. The deli have a great selection of quality meats and cheeses which they transform into sandwiches made to order. Always fresh! My personal fave is the roast beef & cheddar on a ciabatta roll with mustard/mayo but I could eat any one of them without blinking twice, there's a small area to sit down & enjoy your lunch too! I've been pleased with everything I've gotten here. I prefer smaller birds when I roast chicken, and they often have the perfect 2-3 pound Amish hens. They were also happy to cut me marrow bones on the spot when I asked for them - not a lot of places that will do that for you. The meat selection in the freezer is also quite nice. I'm not a fan of all of the different marinated boneless skinless chicken breasts taking up so much space, but I guess that's a matter of taste... read more

Dishonest! For Valentine's Day this year, my husband and I decided to stay in an BBQ our favorite steaks - Fillet. For the special occasion, we went to Pottstown for good quality steaks. Payed $25 per pound (gulp) but for good steaks, it can be worth it. NOT HERE. The fillets were wrapped in pretty paper and looked fabulous, until I got them home and took off the pretty paper. They were not steaks at all, but PIECES of meat smashed and held together with TOOTHPICKS! Really? $25 fillets? The were impossible to BBQ since they just fell apart. When I went back to complain, they made no excuses for thier dishonesty - just saying "that's how we do it here". If they are willing to piece together $25 steaks, what else are they willing to do? They had ZERO customer service. I will never return since I can't trust the company to provide quality foods for the price. I'll stick with the better quality grocery meat counters and other meat companies. BEWARE! read more
