There is a good amount of room for a small wedding party and a kitchen area for any prep or catering work to be done. The wedding party had 6 large tables which fit comfortably in the hall with enough space for dancing and a buffet table off to the side. If you are here for a wedding they will reserve parking spots (Mainly street/parallel parking) for attendees so that you are able to park in peace!

We were married here on June 20th and we could not have imagined having it anywhere else since 2 aunts, my sister and my best friend have all used this venue for there wedding. It is a beautiful building itself on the outside, and the inside is just as beautiful with its huge windows and beautiful views of the water. I loved the look of the old dark wood floors. Heidi was our attendant that day and she provided service that was above and beyond what she was suppose to do. She assisted in the setting up and cleaning of our wedding which we did not expect at all. She was extremely helpful and we knew we could count on her. This venue has a complete kitchen with stoves, oven, microwaves, 2 refrigerator and a lot of room for any type of food prep you might need to do. I was told my the town of steilacoom that we could only have 150 people and music needed to cease by 10:00pm. It also can be a little spendy at $100.00 a hour, but compared to many other venues, it is pretty reasonable. I must say this is a great location to use if you want beautiful wedding photography because the venue itself and surrounding areas has so many opportunities for great shots.

Bothell's motto is, "Bothell welcomes you for a day or for a lifetime." Not true. Our nice country…read moreproperty became incorporated into the city and then the over-control started. Can't cut trees, can't have more than three pets, no roosters. The city wants to 'rewild' the city at citizen cost in safety for both citizens and their domestic animals. In the 28 years of living here the city has become much less safe. Wild animals are overrunning the city including rats from the city's unkempt Blyth Park. Latest is a cougar in people's backyards. The Bothell police officer I talked to about the puma public safety threat said the public must defend itself against 130 pound predators. Currently the City of Bothell has an extremely aggressive, over-empowered, unprofessional animal code enforcer evicting and confiscating people's valuable animal property without due process of law, fining pet owners for perceived minor infractions, citing animal cruelty and neglect, and getting pets killed, and owners traumatized and feeling raped. All with the apparent support of Bothell's Police Department as police officers have accompanied the code enforcer to people's homes. So pumas on the prowl are okay, poodles, barn cats, and roosters not okay. The city does not control its own vegetation and animals, but hyper-controls citizens vegetation and animals. Not at all welcoming. Backwards policies. All at a very high cost in property taxes. In addition to not providing physical security, indeed threatening citizen's peace with the aggressive animal code enforcer and police, the city, because of their poor tree management, does not provide electricity security. The power goes out often and often for prolonged periods. Most homeowners have been forced to get generators. If you are in an apartment or condo, darkness and cold await you. We definitely do not recommend living in this city as it is at present. Sign us, 28 year residents looking for a kinder, more sensible place to live.

There are some standout restaurants here (Amaro Bistro, Poquitos, McMenamins Tiki restaurant above the lagoon, to name a few..) and it's a small town with a cute and safe small town vibe. There's still a Baskin Robbins, local bridal shops, and also a local lady-owned tattoo shop (she is so talented there's a huge wait-list). I am always up for a stroll in downtown Bothell and can't wait to see how the city continues to grow!

Why not review a municipality? The city government provides a variety of services to residents,…read morebusinesses and visitors. As a resident, I've had a good experience with city government overall, although some city staff have ignored information requests I've made in the past. And there is also the thorny issue of how the city government and planning commission are handling Newcastle's growth management. Newcastle is going through a slow and sometimes painful process of de-Rentonization. The commercial area (which city hall cutely refers to as "downtown") is still an unattractive mish-mash of fast food, gas station and strip shopping malls. The city has laid out a new vision for this area (basically downtown Mercer Island) but apparently failed to provide sufficient incentives for property owners to improve or redevelop their non-conforming uses. Coal Creek Parkway is a big part of the challenge. The newer sections of coal creek, south of downtown, offer attractive landscaping, safer sidewalks, and good lighting. But where the road bisects "downtown" there is only one traffic light and no incentive for people who do not live here to slow down. As a result, pedestrians are squeezed onto narrow sidewalks between landscaping on one side and traffic whizzing by at 40+ mph on the other. There is only one protected pedestrian crossing in the commercial area, and it is unlit at night. (The city's growth management plan envisions a future elevated pedestrian walkway connecting the two sides of downtown, a silly idea that the planning commission should have never allowed onto paper). While Bellevue filled in the "suicide" lanes in Factoria years ago, Newcastle waits for the wake up call of a big accident. And so on. Aside from traffic issues, Newcastle lacks many of the basic community resources that Bellevue and other larger Eastside cities offer. There are few marked trails, a shortage of parks and open spaces, almost no waterfront, no library, no YMCA or community center, and no family-friendly pub (no public house at all, in fact, unless you count the former cigar bar up at the golf club) or diner or restaurant serving traditional "American" fare. Some of these things will never be available in Newcastle (increased waterfront). Others are in development (library, YMCA, improved pedestrian safety downtown). Still others are just promises with no delivery date (notably, expanded parks and trails--Newcastle News and the city's blog and growth management documents are packed with chatter about parks and trails, but the city seems to have its hands full easing the commute for residents of Renton and Issaquah, and leaves trail development up to a private volunteer group). Overall the city's charms, location and relative affordability more than make up for its shortcomings, though. And other than the city's poor response to direct public inquiries and some hiccups de-Rentonizing the downtown area, the city government seems to be on top of things.

The parking garage is easy to navigate, there is an amazing sculptural piece outside the glassed eastern lobby wall, and the interior itself is open and inviting. There is a manned customer service desk which I really liked (these are a dying breed in many City halls, as many municipalities have cut these employees and services, due to budget cuts). I was transfixed by the travertine floor which is inlaid with a variety of multi-shaped materials in various images. There is clear signage where to get various licences and do various municipal businesses. There is a lovely cafe/coffee stand in the lobby, and it seemed to be a popular place. The only reason I did not assign 5 stars to this beautiful facility is because of the parking charges. Thankfully, they will validate your parking if you are there on any official City business or if you are attending a City meeting there. Otherwise, it's exhorbitant (I think the rate is $25 for up to 3 hours, if memory serves me correctly). Wow.
