Eggnog latte and pistachio cold brew
    Jason F.

I stopped by here yesterday with my wife and twins for our afternoon coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new coffee shop and on this day we happened to be near Pour Johnny's and so we headed on over. This coffee shop is in a plaza right on Library Road in Castle Shannon. The inside of it was cozy and had a Christmas tree with a couple of stuffed armchairs and then there was a coffee counter as well as a small retail section filled with mugs, shirts, snacks and a wall decorated with a wood plank backdrop, a Coca Cola sign and a bright yellow quirky map art piece. For our coffees on this afternoon I decided to go with a large eggnog latte while my wife went with a pistachio cold brew as recommended by one of their signs. The wait was somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes as even though the shop was closing in less than an hour, people kept rolling in. My coffee here ended up being pretty good as the eggnog made my latte thick and silky. The sweetness and flavor were definitely present and while the spices were there they were subtle and I wished there was more of them. My espresso was also hidden behind the eggnog flavor which wasn't surprising at all. As for my wife's coffee, it was entirely too sweet. She took one sip and didn't take another which prompted me to try it. It was ridiculously sweet and until we added some milk at home to cut that sweetness it was borderline undrinkable. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While my wife's coffee was a miss, mine was a hit so I would like to try some of their other drinks.

New coffee shop in the South Hills!!! Serving up delicious coffee made from De Fer Coffee beans and serving up local goodies from Jonesey Cakes & Brown Bear Bread Co. I tried their cold brew and it tasted perfect- added pumpkin pie cold foam and it was so delicious! The owners are so sweet and the shop is filled with cute little touches like plant and old coffee grind tins! I can't wait to go back.

Awesome coffee shop that opens at 6 am. Perfect for commuters, just a block or two from the Washington Junction T station. The coffee is great, service is fantastic and they got some cool items to buy (stickers, candy, retro theme stuff)

I've driven up and down Potomac Ave for years and never noticed Fredo's which is right next door to…read morethe Dormont Theater. I had to stop into Fredo's after seeing photos from my daughter who had just spent two weeks in Bosnia. The interior of Fredo's is like stepping into a small shop you'd find in Bosnia. The yellow walls are welcoming, and cozy. There's a small variety of snacks, and beverages on one side of the shop, and a large counter where you'd place your order. There are a few tables for dining in, but I chose to take my order home. I ordered a small Cevapi and Sirnica, plus picked up some Croatian chocolate for dessert. The Cevapi were delicious skinless beef and veal sausages, that were nicely savory and well browned. A cup of chopped onions, and what I think was a yogurt sauce came with my Cevapi which added more flavor and an overall goodness to the Cevapi. A bread similar to a pita made eating Cevapi easy, and filling. The Sirnica was equally delicious. A wonderful mix of flaky, chewy phyllo pastry, and cheese baked inside the pastry. It definitely hit the spot with a nice balance of a light pastry and mild cheese. I ate the leftover half cold, and it was just as good! The lady at the counter was friendly, and patient with me. The menu is truly a deli menu full of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. If you're wanting to go for the House Specials, you won't be disappointed!

They have a couple of tables inside for dining and we chose the one closest to the coffee bar. The one employee there took our order and made our food right next to us at the counter/kitchen set up located behind the register. We did see several takeout orders get picked up while we were there. My mom had the gyro salad and I ordered an Italian with no onions or dressing. My mom was disappointed that the "greens" were actually chopped romaine and/or iceberg. The gyro meat was flavorful and had a nice crisp to the outside and the homemade dressing was delicious. The Italian was also decent. I'm picky when it comes to hoagie rolls and this baguette was soft and fresh. I typically prefer more of a crisp exterior, but this was fine. The meat and toppings were fresh and the sandwich was served with a small bag of Lay's on the side. Overall, we had a nice experience dining in the small deli, but with so many options in the Pittsburgh area, I can't say we were wowed enough to be repeat customers.

We didn't, but somehow got lucky snagging seats at the bar... which honestly turned out to be a perfect spot to eat too! The beet salad was SO good I could've easily ordered a second without hesitation. I had a self-proclaimed Reuben connoisseur with me, and he declared it the best Reuben he's ever had (second only to his own, of course ). It's not your typical version either--no standard Thousand Island overload. The corned beef was perfectly peppered and packed with flavor, and even the bread stood out. Fish tacos? Absolutely a yes. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. We split sides--tater tots for one dish and the homemade chips for the other. Always go for the homemade chips here. WOW! They had this subtle sweetness that made them seriously addictive. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and food that lives up to the hype. Totally worth it! One quick heads up: there's a 3% fee if you use a credit card, so plan accordingly.

We arrived around 4:30pm, we had to park on the street, but there were several spots available. The restaurant is small with a casual interior. We were greeted and seated immediately. The food was good with hearty portions, but our waitress rushed us the entire time. We said we needed a few minutes, because this was our first time here, so she stood there and just... waited. She didn't offer to make any suggestions or ask whether we had any questions, she was just standing inches from the table looking at us. Finally I had to say, "oh, you don't have to wait right here, it'll be at least 5 minutes." Then she left. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, two non-alcoholic drinks, and two desserts. She never asked whether we wanted dessert, and reached to present the bill while asking if we needed any takeout boxes. I had to interject and ask if we could see a menu for dessert options. The check was placed on our table before dessert arrived, which has never happened to us before at any restaurant we've ever been to. Then, when the desserts were brought to the table, she grabbed the bill presenter and said, "are we good?" I replied, "no, I'll pay when we're done eating." It was odd because we went very early and there were only a few other tables occupied so, I had no idea why we were being rushed the entire time. They also brought my daughter's entree with the wrong side, but they fixed it right away with no fuss. I left a generous tip and didn't report our experience. She was never outright rude to us, but rushing guests at every interaction is uncomfortable and made us feel unwelcome. Overall, this place is good, but if I ever go back, I would insist on a different waitress.
