The venue is decorated in Cleveland art. There are couches, chairs, a long bar and tables of varying sizes for cozy get togethers. We started with a mini charcuterie. We then learned that 50 types of wine are made on the premises! We were treated to a wine flight of 4 varieties. I chose the Buckeye Blackberry Merlot. The Elite event included a DIY terrarium bar, hosted by Peace Lily Boutique Plant Shop. I finally have a new plant in my house after the long winter. It was great meeting YELP Elites. When I'm feeling like I need something sweet, I appreciate that there is a nice ice cream selection. If I am feeling adventurous, I appreciate that beers are sold individually, by the bottle - it's always the worst when you buy a pack of a new drink and end up not liking it, so it's nice to try just one bottle! They're not super-talkative, but very, very friendly. Also, you can bring your dog in with you if you're on a walk and you decide to pick something up. That's huge for me because I refuse to leave my dog outside, unattended anywhere but my fenced in backyard. 2) The a la cart beer section is fan-freakin-tabulous. You'll most likely spend a little more than your average sixer of all the same brews, but this way you can pick and choose from their great selection. Sometimes I'm in the mood for lots of different kinds of beers, but I don't want cases of it lying around my house--that's just asking for trouble, right? Hehe. Even when I visited pre-pandemic, I was able to get in and out quickly and find just what I was looking for! Friendly, attentive, and clearly putting in the effort to make guests feel welcome. That said, the overall experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The seasonal mixed drinks were creative and fun, and the fries were surprisingly solid. Unfortunately, the spicy chicken sandwich was underwhelming--bland, without much heat or flavor--and the buffalo chicken dip was just decent. With a pretty limited food menu, we found ourselves wishing for a few more standout options to round out the visit. To be fair, we didn't sample any of their craft beers, which could very well be the highlight of the place. But for a Friday happy hour at 5:30, the sparse crowd (just eight people, including us) made the atmosphere feel more quiet than energetic. I genuinely want to root for a local spot like this, and I admire what they're trying to build. But based on our experience, this feels like a one-and-done for us. Majority of the neighbors love it here and the winery is creating jobs for people in the immediate area, which is needed and wonderful. They source their hybrid vines which are grafted, from Cornell University grapes. Their wines have great names such as Swoon, Sassy, or Crimson! All the wine is cold pressed and made on site. They quark all their wine and make about 5,000 bottles per year. Mansfield Frazier is the owner with his lovely wife Brenda. They personally run the joint and take great care of their costumers and wine. I was here for a 20+ person event with the Cornell Alumni Club and they did a fabulous job accommodating everyone! There is plenty of parking and space to walk around outside. There is a bit of seating inside and very knowledgeable staff around to talk about their products. Their hours of operation vary so you should call the number on the door and the owner could possibly be there in minutes. 216-438-0964 They do not have snacks for sale at the moment, but you are welcome to bring your own to eat inside. FYI - In the future they would love to take down the old abandon building, which was once a church next door and grow the wine making facility with a gift shop, market and better space to host more costumers. They have lights and signage to let you know you're at the right house. They even have a small vineyard growing in the backyard.. Upon entering the door to the winery, you will find yourself in a stairwell with stairs going down to the basement. Once you're in the basement you will immediately forget you are in a basement. It is quite a spacious and comfortable area with lots of tables and couches, a fireplace, a bar, and a bathroom. There's even a section where they make the wine in steel barrels. It's very cozy, charming, friendly and clean. The host/owners are extremely friendly. It seems that the owner's family is from Northern Italy and we enjoyed talking to them. The Wine itself far exceeded my expectations. We tasted three reds plus the Chardonnay, and we enjoyed all of it. The blueprint red blend was my favorite followed by the Chardonnay. I'm a bit of a Wine snob and I typically don't like Ohio wine. However, I was pleasantly surprised...okay...if we're being honest...actually shocked...that all the wine we tasted was excellent.
