It has been a bit since I reviewed this amazing place, and given their updated menu, I felt now was a great time. We have certainly become a "regular" here. We love the events they have, especially Thursday Trivia. And I also love their fun seasonal drinks. As vegetarians, we love that there are great food options for us, especially the new Mediterranean board we just tried. And they also have amazing homemade veggie burgers. If you haven't been here for awhile, you should definitely stop in!

A winery and a brewery. Inside and outside seating. We went on a Thursday and played trivia. Very fun atmosphere. Food and beverages are ordered at the bar. I had the burger and it was very good. The raspberry blush wine is amazing and definitely check out the wine slushies. Staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back.

Started coming once of month for a meeting up with the girls. We love sitting outside when its warm and the inside is cozy. Everyone is super friendly with great good and drinks.

I am so glad they reopened, after being closed for a few months! The winery is a bit of a drive for me, but it is worth it for the good wine, friendly atmosphere, and Thursday trivia nights! I had one glass of delicious and sweet blackberry wine ($6 a glass). Yum! I didn't really get anything from their very limited food menu (just small bites, really) but I picked up a small bag of locally made, buttered popcorn to help me curb my late-night munchies ($5). Then, after an hour and a half of trivia, we were declared the winners! Locally made wine and a chance to feel smart? Sounds like a good night to me!

    Pig Roast

During our Labor Day weekend trip, we unexpectedly stumbled upon John Christ Winery's pig roast and decided to join the fun. The atmosphere was lively, with enthusiastic first-time patrons enjoying themselves. The wine was fantastic, and a Jimmy Buffet tribute band provided great entertainment. However, service was entirely self-serve, which meant that once we grabbed our drinks, they stayed on our table indefinitely--bottles from previous guests were pushed aside without anyone clearing them up. While waiting for the pig, we enjoyed a charcuterie that arrived in a quirky to-go box; the meats and cheeses were decent, though better suited for beer, which they had plenty of, considering the German-themed decor. The artichoke dip was unique and memorable. I would not recommend. When the pig was finally ready, I opted for the pork with mac & cheese instead of a full plate. The mac was delicious, but the pork serving was scant--just a small portion of crispy roast. Our experience had its highs and lows, and while I'd return, I'd stick to bratwurst, hotdogs, pretzels, and, of course, beer!

    Burnt medium rare steak

First time here as it was recommended. I absolutely cannot recommend. Not busy and it took 30 minutes for the food order. We all ordered the steak and my steak medium rare was burnt, and the medium well were well done. Also, too much salt on food and red potatoes were also burned. Nobody bothered to check on the food while we were eating as well. This place is a bust.

Great wine at good prices. Unique wine you can only get there. Live music some evenings.

Very good service and vibe. Whenever we've been here, they have Live music. Fun place in the heart of Avon Lake!

Can you bring a child here?

    Are dogs allowed?

Not at all. Don't believe the other sites out there that say John Christ is dog friendly. I saw many sites that said you can bring your dog there, but even though I was at a table far from all other tables, they made me leave.

They have lights and signage to let you know you're at the right house. They even have a small vineyard growing in the backyard.. Upon entering the door to the winery, you will find yourself in a stairwell with stairs going down to the basement. Once you're in the basement you will immediately forget you are in a basement. It is quite a spacious and comfortable area with lots of tables and couches, a fireplace, a bar, and a bathroom. There's even a section where they make the wine in steel barrels. It's very cozy, charming, friendly and clean. The host/owners are extremely friendly. It seems that the owner's family is from Northern Italy and we enjoyed talking to them. The Wine itself far exceeded my expectations. We tasted three reds plus the Chardonnay, and we enjoyed all of it. The blueprint red blend was my favorite followed by the Chardonnay. I'm a bit of a Wine snob and I typically don't like Ohio wine. However, I was pleasantly surprised...okay...if we're being honest...actually shocked...that all the wine we tasted was excellent. I will definitely be telling all my friends and family about La Famiglia winery!

They only have a few sweet wines the sweetest being the red dolce. It's fruity and sweet. We like it. They have semi sweet and dry as well. They have a porch/patio and inside are some chairs and tables. They also have a loft area. That's where we went. The place was hoping around 1p on a Sunday when we went. A book club was there and several couples. They also had a coffee tasting from a local grower. The smell of fresh coffee was very overwhelming so we had to try. The service is good. Staff is nice. Prices about average. They have some food and you can bring your own. The issue and unfortunately there was one, was that there were thousands of fruit flies invading the place. I guess they crushed grapes for harvest and the fruit flies are a thing that happens. It was very annoying and obnoxious. Wine, food, and you had to be covered because the flies were on every surface. It was rainy so no outdoor escape on the patio. There are ways to control the flies. Use that blue light to attract them or something. If you want people to sit and drink. Make it easy. Flies are not making it easy. We will go back. But I'll call to make sure flies are gone.
