THEY DO NOT ANSWER PHONE CALLS OR RESPOND TO THEIR OWN TEXT QUESTIONS. I had an eye exam there. Done by a decent doctor. But when it came time to get frames, it was a nightmare. An inexperienced clerk almost sold me incorrect frames and struggled to get the prescription right on the computer. Over and over again she said out loud the wrong information and I had to correct her. I just didn't feel comfortable having her in charge of the purchase. Another clerk helped me, seemingly more knowledgeable. She ordered frames for me to try on before I buy, since they didn't have the ones I wanted in stock. That was two weeks ago, but they said it would be a couple of days. No phone call, no one picks up the phone, and you get this text on your cell phone when you call, asking you what they can help you with, but they never respond to it. This place is a black hole, with young kids running the desk and not answering the phone. There is rarely anyone there, and I can now see why. They are not busy, they are not working. read more

Beware - they will try to charge you for the difference between what your insurance pays and what they charge, this is balance billing and is illegal. The manager strung me along for over 2 months telling me that my insurance paid the wrong amount for my daughter's contact lenses and unless I paid the difference ($800+) they wouldn't give them to me, even though they had received them. It wasn't until my insurance told her on a 3-way call with me that they must release the contact lenses per their contract, that they finally agreed to let me pick them up. We will not be returning to Poway Eyeworks again and others should be made aware of their unethical and illegal business practices. I waited a week to write this review thinking maybe they would call and apologize for their negligence. Considering how many conversations have been had over the last couple months that seems like the most reasonable thing to do in this situation, but nothing, which only further confirms it wasn't a mistake, but was intentional. read more

The past 2 years their service has severely declined. They have issues with VSP labs keeping glasses for months to make corrections to lenses. Their optometrist provided prescriptions that have made my vision worse to the point I can't read well at all anymore and when you try to rectify any issues with them they fail to provide resolution and are only interested in charging you more money. They just want you to go away and don't care at all about patient care or customer service. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else that actually cares about patients receiving quality care. read more

I had an urgent situation where I was in town for a meeting, the evening before I had a bit of a sneeze attack and lost a contact, the next morning trying to drive with one eye. The contact I had left was becoming unbearably painful. I walked in and asked to buy a single pair as I had several new boxes at home but like a dummy didn't bring any. They kindly viewed my prescription and provided me a complimentary pair of contacts. Poway Eyeworks saved the day!!! They were hospitable and quite service oriented which was rather refreshing given the fact I don't have the best experience at eye places and I'm stuck on just my one doctor. Would not trust them with my eye exam again. I went to Poway Eyeworks, and had a full eye exam. 3 months later I'm still not seeing clearly, I called to ask for a recheck. They said I have to pay full price for that. To be honest I didn't feel great about the visit I should have just canceled my visit on the spot. They seem to be in it for the money not the patients. They have over priced frames and my exam was 6 min long, no real patient care. read more

I went here since they had weekend appointments but the optometrist I saw didn't appear to be knowledgeable on how to use the machines, he was awkward and fumbled a lot, and advised I needed a big change in my prescription which did not work for me at all. I had to go back for a recheck with a different doctor to get my prescription fixed. I had ordered glasses and now the coating is peeling from the lenses. I've owned glasses for most of my life and never had this issue. Now I have to pay out of pocket to get new lenses. Will never go back here again. read more

Had my first annual eye exam since 08/2019 with Poway Eyeworks and they did not disappoint at all. The young woman at the front desk, Sitav, was extremely efficient, helpful and knowledgeable when performing the diagnostic tests. Sitav then turned me over to Dr. Howard who conducted the computerized prescription tests to see which lenses of mine would have better clarity. This time flew by and what was actually 15 minutes felt like 3! Afterwards Sitav assisted me in picking out frames where I ended up choosing 2 new frames with hi-index lenses which have an effect in both cosmetic thickness and visual clarity. All in all, the whole eye exam process was smooth and easy with zero problems. Definitely would recommend for any new or returning patients. This is my to go to eye place for my glasses and contact needs. I have a Vsp eye plan which after searching on the website, I discovered this location accepts my eye insurance. For me growing up, I've always had to wear glasses - so after working, it's been kind of important for my eye place to be nearby (which this is, in Poway!). It is in the same plaza as Target, Luna Grill, and Coldstone. Parking is ample! I usually make an appointment early in the morning (first of the day), and go in for what I need. The first time I went here I brought my previous information from my last eye place (Lencrafters on Clairemont- as they were too far and I preferred only going to that location). Afterward they did a few general tests on my eye - one of the scans they seemed to have to ask me if I wanted to do it. I believe it was in regard to doing a scan of the eye. After meeting with the eye doctor she sees how healthy my eyes are - also letting me know if it got worse or such. At this time she would be checking to see what lenses would be good for me and also to my satisfaction for looking. And then for me to choose my glasses to see if I don't already have them. Contacts fitting can also be done too to see that the contacts I try on are comfortable if it turns out I need a different prescription. I have frequented this location 2-3 times and I never had a problem. For refilling the bottle spray they give you to clean your glasses though, make sure you don't lose the original or else you would have to buy a new one. And beware of leaving it with pets! My dog got curious about mine and treated it as a chew toy. Girls here have always been super sweet. read more

I first came here in 2021 to get glasses and they were great, so I decided to come back in 2023. I got my eye exam and then selected glasses. Well 2 months after receiving them they started getting scratches all over the lenses, and at first I was confused because I only clean my glasses with the spray and cloths provided with the glasses from this business. So I ended up calling them and leaving a message for someone to give me a call back about this issue. I received no communication to my message so I had to drive all the way from Ramona to them to get the help I asked for. Once there they tried to make it seem like it was my fault for not paying extra for the lenses to get a 1 year warranty (mind you they never mentioned anything about it this to me, because if they had I wouldn't paid extra to protect my glasses since I heavily rely on them to see). They just even made a comment saying they would teach me how to clean my glasses as if I don't know how to do this when I've been wearing them since the 3rd grade. The woman said she would reach out to the place that makes them to see if they can fix them since this shouldn't have happened within 2 months. I left my glasses there and then got a call that they would fix them as a courtesy, great! I then picked them up about 3 weeks later and within a week they were scratched again. Mind you, the first pair of glasses I purchased never had this issue so that tells me it's definitely not a me issue, but a them issue. So at this point I was over the back and forth of trying to get it resolved from them so I opened a dispute with my bank. By this time it was well over the 60 days but they said I could try to do it anyways, so I did. Then a month later they closed it because they needed more information. So I contacted my bank and gave them the extra information they needed including photos. The rep at my bank then said they needed a print out receipt of all that was done on my glasses. In this moment it dawned on me that in 2021 and 2023 they never gave me this. All I got was the receipt of the charge but no print out of what frame it was or what was done to the lenses. So I had to contact poway eyeworks for this information that should've been given to me at the time of purchase (mind you they didn't even give me my prescription in 2023, I had to ask for this when I went to pick up the glasses after they were fixed), I gave all this info to my bank and they reopened the dispute. 2 months later I heard nothing from my bank until I went to look at my account and they reversed the provisional credit because poway eyeworks claimed I refused the warranty for the glasses. It's absolutely insane to me how a business can lie and they win the chargeback. They not ONCE offered this to me verbally, nor did I sign anything stating they did. Had they offered this I would've gladly paid extra to protect my glasses. Needless to say their service and quality of their products have gone downhill. I received better service and products from WalMart and Costco, which is where I should've gone in the first place. This whole ordeal has been a hassle and a mentally draining process, so I would avoid them at all costs and go with a more reputable company because this company is unprofessional, liars and a nightmare to deal with. read more

Being extremely satisfied with my first examination and glasses two years ago I returned to Poway Eyeworks for an exam and new glasses. I use glasses for daily reading and music production on a computer with two 27" HD monitors. I was very specific that the progressive lens distance ratio on my previous glasses was perfect. When I received my new glasses the ratio was completely different than my previous glasses. I went back to Poway Eyeworks, I was re-examined and they agreed that the prescription was not correct. They graciously replaced the incorrect lenses. However, upon receiving the second lens the progressive lens distance ratio was STILL not correct even after AGAIN specifying that my older lenses were perfect and giving them the exact distance that I was viewing my computer screens at. I called and spoke to Gloria, I stated that for reading the glasses were perfect but for viewing the computer monitors it was again not correct. She then informed me that I would be charged an extra fee to have them correct the miscalculation that THEY made with the progressive lens distance ratio. She also gave me every excuse in the world why it was MY fault that the lens prescription was not working for me. I.E. "You shouldn't switch between the old and new glasses because you have to get used to the new prescription", "Perhaps you have cataracts" etc. I mentioned several times that the prescription was correct for close reading but viewing the computer monitors was not correct. She again was argumentative and informed me that there would be an additional charge. I stated that I wanted a full refund, she refused the refund and I said goodbye. Finally, I want to state that the progressive lens distance ratio is COMPLETELY different than my previous glasses deeming them useless for my job, a complete waste of time and I'm out $384.00. Why is such a simple request so difficult to attain? End of story.... Although I am still willing to come in to correct this if Poway Eyeworks will not charge me for THEIR mistake. The staff is very friendly and welcoming; they alone deserve 5 stars. However, the optometrist that examined me was less than friendly. If given the choice I would advise you not to see Christina Issa, OD. Ask to wait for another optometrist or reschedule your visit. She really doesn't communicate well while giving the exam and I didn't feel she made any effort to answer my questions. In fact, she came across as curt and unwilling to address any of my concerns, which is off-putting especially when the whole reason you're there is to examine your optical health. Overall she came across as unfriendly and unhelpful, I sincerely hope she improves. One of the examinations had me staring into the distance while she used a light to look into my eye. To say that light is bright is an understatement and so I was naturally blinking. Without warning Christina Issa, OD used an instrument to grab my eyelid causing me to jerk back in surprise. Zero warning or apology for unexpectedly grabbing my eye lid. I don't even know what to say to that other than she needs to improve on her communication skills. All the medical degrees and training in the world are worthless if you can't simply communicate with your patients and I sincerely hope she improves on that because not only does it come across as rude, but its costing the business money. I came in ready to buy a pair of glasses, but instead got a print out of my RX and will take my business elsewhere. read more

My husband and I just moved to this area and I haven't been able to replace my nose pad for my eyeglasses for the past year, partly due to my optometrist closure. I called Poway Eyeworks today and without asking me hundred questions, the technician quickly said I could drop by and they could look to see if they can replace it today. One who did our eye exam is knowledgeable and did her job with commitment, not doing the job for the sake of doing. The young lady Dr Ananya Dal sing is simply brilliant and her approach as an eye care provider has been excellent, We both are University Professors and she answered all our questions promptly and recommended needed and relevant course of actions towards our eye care. They break, you pay! This place has turned for the worst. It was my husband and my optical eye care place for the last 7 years. They broke my frame and wants me to pay for the parts and replacement. The left side of my frame was loose for quite some time and finally I decided to bring it in for them to adjust. After the first adjustment, I went home and it got worse, so I drove all the way back to have them adjust again. This time, they broke it. Not only that, I was without glasses the entire day and I didn't hear back from them. I called today and spoke with Gloria and she said my frame was 3 years old and was going to break anyway. She said they tell customer that it is their company policy they are not responsible if in attempting to fix glasses, they break it. Well they didn't tell me that yesterday when I brought my glasses in twice! They asked that I go pick up my glasses that they had broken. How irresponsible! read more

I had this eyeglass for less than 3 weeks (3/12/2019) and When I used in the first time it gives me a 2 days headache. Then I tried to use in on the next few days and gives me the same problem. When I walk inside the walmart, its looks like I have a rainbow of lazer light around of top of the eyeglasses and makes me dizzy. So I decided to go back to go back to check what's wrong on this eyeglasses and they just easy found out that I did not add the reflective features? Really? In just a quick view you'll already insisted that the problem and told me to ask $100+ to add that features. They don't even check any possibilities.. Regretful to go in this clinic... I was able to schedule an appointment online quickly for the same week and the experience with the staff and Dr. was very pleasant. Everyone in the office was friendly and the Dr. was able to provide me with some contacts to hold me over until mine arrived which I thought was very thoughtful. When I needed to get my frames replaced they told me that in the future they would honor no warranties from manufacturers. I purchased new glasses one year ago from Kendra,and although they were busy the day I came in she made sure she got my attention as I came into the store. She let me know that it would be a few more minutes before someone could help. Kendra got to me in less than ten minutes, enough time to look around and see what was in stock on frames. She took no longer than thirty minutes to get all my information, fit me in a new framed and set me on the way. My prescription is not easy but I had my new eyes in ten working days. Since then I have had absolutely no issues with the frames and lenses. Fast forward to this month (March 2019), time for new lenses. Went in the store concerned that I was going to get the sales stuff that I would need new frames and all the extra stuff. I could have been more wrong. Maria greeted me as I walked in the store. I told her what I needed and that I would need two sets of new lenses. I asked I could use a older frame that I had prior to buying my new one from them a year ago. She explained that I my insurance did allow for new frames and did a super job in letting me know the details on what was covered. I told her I really liked the old frames and would just use them as a back up and would rather keep my year old frames too. She had me out in less than thirty minutes on my new order of lenses, and she was very considerate about using my old frames. On I get them she told me to then bring my second pair and they will do them too. I was extremely pleased that there was no pressure and so far I have had a great experience with them this store. Very professional but for me they were personable too. Great customer service, great products and reasonable prices. read more
