I was absolutely petrified to go through with eye surgery, and am generally an extremely anxious…read moreperson as it is. To know that I was considering trusting someone to shoot lasers into my eyeballs was horrifying. For this reason, I've put off LASIK and hadn't seriously considered taking the leap of faith for years. About three years ago, I was told that I could no longer wear contact lenses, or I'd risk blindness due to over a decade of wearing contacts while out surfing. I guess the combination of saltwater, sand granules, and whatever else trapped between the contact and my eye had caused severe scarring and repeated infections. Without contacts, surfing just hasn't been the same. I couldn't see well enough out in the lineup, and felt very depressed remembering what it used to be like when I was able to wear contacts out there. My only option was eye surgery, or a lifetime of squinting and not really enjoying my biggest passion in life, which I've been doing for 24 years. I came across Clearview online, and spent tens of hours, literally, researching the clinic, Dr. Sandy Feldman, reading reviews, etc. I decided to go in for a consultation, and was immediately put at ease by the friendliness, professionalism, and patience of the staff. In terms of patience, I'd especially like to thank Jared, who sat with me for over an hour answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns, never being forceful or trying to get me to sign and schedule. We discussed what type of surgery was best for me, how much it was going to cost (I received an Educator discount which was great,) and what the recovery timeline was. I ended up scheduling surgery for yesterday, 5/15, which at the time was about two weeks out. Last week, amidst another freak out about this, I called Jared and asked if it would be possible to observe a LASIK operation to settle my nerves. Sure enough, he found a patient that was kind enough to oblige and invited me in to watch. The entire operation took less than ten minutes and looked like no big deal! The patient came out smiling and said he felt fine. That really was the final piece that encouraged me to just commit and get this handled. I went in for surgery at 2:30 yesterday. I was a terrible patient, did not take things well, was not calm whatsoever, and repeatedly freaked out. I squeezed the small teddy bear they gave me as if I was a toddler, and squeezed the surgical tech's hand, asking Dr. Feldman if "everything was ok," and "did something go wrong?" She exhibited herculean levels of patience and empathy. I got through it, there was absolutely no pain, and the experience felt like something out of a science fiction movie. It was actually very cool! I went home, took the provided sleeping pills, and passed out. While I woke up intermittently throughout the night, the worst of it was just a feeling like I had sand stuck in my eyes, blurry vision, and a sensation as if I was looking through a steamed up glass. I woke up this morning around 5, (twelve hours of sleep is more than enough,) and found that the gritty sensation had since disappeared, my sight was near perfect, and I felt more or less normal. Unbelievable! I drove myself to my pre-op appointment (without glasses), met with Dr. Amir who told me that I was healing nicely, and was in and out of the office in ten minutes. I challenge others to be as freaked out and apprehensive about going through with eye surgery as I was. I was doing all of the things you shouldn't do: -Googling horror stories about LASIK going wrong -Hyperfixating on the rare low review and looking for one that stated someone had gone blind -Listened to a bunch of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and considered if my degree in Jazz Saxophone would be enough to make a living as a blind man All is well! My only regret, as many have stated, is not getting this done sooner. Just do it! You're going to be fine, you'll love the results, it does not hurt, and you can trust Dr. Feldman and her team. Thank you all so much for everything!

But not anymore, good doctors like Dr Reeder and his assistant Lisa were all gone! Office staff used to be nice and all changed to a bunch of arrogant, incompetent and rude crew! The culture of this office completely changed. Here is what I experienced today, my daughter and I were getting new contact lens and glasses, the girl Heidi who was helping me presented me a bill of $997. I swiped my credit card and paid. Then I asked for a receipt printed, she said she can email me, but given my past experience with them where they never emailed me receipt after I leave their office, I told her I can wait for a printed paper receipt. By the way, in the past, they always charge and print you receipt at front desk right away, now they don't want to give you receipt at the time of payment, I am not sure if this is legal, but certainly Intentional! 10mins later, she came back and told me that due to our two insurance coverage, she over charged me and the sum should be $923 instead. So she voided the $997 charge and I swiped my card again for $923. After that, another few minutes later, she brought me printed receipt, showing the sum is $882 instead! I asked her why the receipt shows $882, but she charged me $923? She then went back and sitting with that office manager (I don't know her name), after 15-20mins, she came back and presented me a receipt of $923. I asked her if she can show me the $882 receipt she showed me earlier and I want to see what was the gap? She refused to do so, told me the $882 receipt was gone? Exercise me? You shredded the receipt while trying to fix it so you can charge me more? She said, it was their mistake and they were charging me based on my last year order. I don't believe that and I insisted that they pull it out from the desk they were at, or computer system to explain to me the difference and what was the mistake. She went back to behind the office manager and does not come out anymore. I waited 30 mins and she is not coming back and that office manager who was siting there does not want to come explain to me about the three billed amount. I advised another client of theirs who were picking up glasses at the time to make sure they check their receipts! And that office manager got upset and told me that she can refund me the entire transaction, and I can't get glasses from their office. I said yes please, but since I have seen the doctor and I have 15 years of medical record here, I want to see the doctor and get all my medical records released from them. She told me I have to pay for the doctor visit to get the prescription. I have no problem with that, but I need to see the doctor before I leave. I waited another hour or so, finally Dr Sanders came and brought me and that office manager to his office. I explained to him what I had experienced, and she said the $882 bill charged $25 less than the right amount. Come on, $882 plus $25 is $907, right? Not the $923 they charged me. It was not the small difference in money, it was the deceits behind these operations, they completely lost my business and I will never go there anymore. Please make sure you look at your bills, and they OVER CHARGE! Be careful, good doctors are gone, good staff are gone, this place does not deserve to go back at all. Take your business elsewhere please. You need to respect your money and yourself, stay away from this group of dishonest people.

Where to start? I am beyond thrilled that we found Dr Motwani and Cornea Revolution…read more My 17 year old son was diagnosed with keratoconus in February after noticing worsening vision that wasn't helped by glasses. I began diving into researching keratoconus and was completely overwhelmed because the provider who diagnosed him was not communicating with me to answer questions and concerns. We had been given an appointment for corneal collagen crosslinking but it was almost 3 months from the time of diagnosis. AND we were told that any vision correction needed after crosslinking could be addressed with 'special lenses' (scleral lenses most likely) I was concerned after reading how fast keratoconus can progress in teens, So I found myself on a Facebook support group seeking answers. I posted asking anyone whether 3 months was too long to wait to do anything, especially after I learned my son's tests put him in the advanced range in one eye. To my surprise, Dr Motwani answered my question on Facebook. He advised he would always treat teens sooner rather than later due to quicker progression which confirmed what I'd been reading. But he also mentioned his CREATE + Crosslinking protocol. I didn't know any such thing existed- that there was a way to not only stop progression but correct the vision as well. Dr Motwani is a pioneer in this field. After calling the office I was offered an appointment that would be sooner than our original provider would even talk to me on the phone to address my concerns. Lyra spoke with me for a long time on the phone. I was able to speak to two moms whose teens had seen Dr Motwani and both moms gave very positive reviews. I was so impressed at the level of care they provided even before we made the appointment to be seen. So, I knew in my heart this was worth the drive and out of pocket cost. And I was right. I'm moved to tears now because my son's vision is greatly improved. The 'cone' in his worse eye is much smaller, and completely gone in the other eye. His vision is nearly 20/20 now. He can see a lot better. We are almost three months out from surgery and healing will continue but he has improved so much already. We were treated so kindly by Dr Motwani and the whole staff. During surgery, my son requested a Stevie Wonder album be played and they honored his request. I watched the whole process through the glass doors and on the monitor. And afterwards during the challenging first night, I was able to call and speak to the tech, Angelle, for advice and reassurance even late at night. Kind, transparent, and competent. We are so grateful! Thank you!

Day of the Surgery: The actual procedure was done in a very short period of time. I felt pressure on my eye socket, but nothing else. You just stare at some lights and each eye is done in a matter of 20-30 seconds. Once you're done, they give you protective goggles and send you off with whoever is driving you. You get meds to help you sleep and relax your eyes for the rest of the day. When I woke up from this, I could already see much better. Next Day: I woke up and was astonished at how good my vision was. I have books across the room from my bed and I could read all the titles from where I was laying. Pre-surgery I couldn't even tell there was writing where the titles were. I had my check up at NVision, which I drove myself to and the rest of the day was great. Day 3: This day, my eyes hurt like hell. I took drops a lot and tried to keep my eyes closed a lot. The rest of the week, the pain decreased and went away and my vision continued to improve. I was never more excited when I didn't have to wear the goggles to bed anymore haha Over the next several weeks and months, my eyesight was much crisper than it had ever been when I wore contacts. Colors were more vibrant and I could read street signs much farther away. My eyes needed drops at the beginning and end of days as they were frequently dry and to this day I still have minor halos around lights at night, but damn this eyesight is a dream. If you are eligible for Contura, I would definitely spend the extra money and do it. It made a big difference for me.

Well, she paid her cash that she'd saved, and the young man was a little flustered about taking cash (like he didn't know what to do with it). He had problems printing out a receipt, so we said we'd get it on the way out and we forgot. Six months later Scripps says we didn't pay. They have been "looking into it" supposedly. I have even gone to see their billing dept. we had even told the doctor that she'd paid cash because she was proud of herself. Now I am stuck with another bill! A year and a half ago, Scripps head surgeon of neurology diagnosed me with a brain aneurism, his radiologist disagrees, and so did other neurologists from other hospitals. My ent misdiagnosed my cancer (that I had) and he didn't medicate me correctly for an ear disease I have. So I left. They have always managed to notch my family's accounts - but this is a biggie - this sounds like a problem to me in Rancho Bernardo ophthalmology. And why did I need to make a category, did they take the old one down? I will continue re-posting. What happened was very wrong! My 12 year old worked hard for her money - and now it's just missing! I don't know the gentleman's name who was working there, but he was new and young and African American. I've been back a few times to talk with him about this, and he wasn't at the desk. I…read morewas scheduled for Cataract surgery on one eye and then Laser surgery for the other eye (post Cataract) the week after. In regard to the first meet and pre-surgery appointment, I have mostly all good things to report. The main issue (and reason for 3 stars) is due to confusion. I'll explain. My son and I arrived on time and chose to use the car Valet Service due to my physical limitations and time factor. We were told they close at 5pm (this is 2pm) so make sure to pick up the car beforehand. We figured no problem, should only take 2-1/2 hours at most for pre-op testing. Unfortunately, once we got in, the paperwork to complete took around 30 minutes itself (the writing was so small and hard to read), so I'm sure that put me behind others. Shortly after, I was taken in for the testing. I had a very nice, quiet, gentle man assisting me. I have never had problems with eye testing in the past (having done this surgery before), however, it was confusing at times. He really did not explain what he was going to do or what he was testing for so I just tried to follow his verbal directions which were often hard to hear. He'd say (in a barely audible tone), "blink, don't blink". Then not say anything and repeat it over and over and over. Sometimes he wouldn't say "don't blink" so I was never sure if he was repeating it bc I didn't do it right or simply bc that's how many times he needed to do it. By the time the 3rd or 4th test came up, my back was killing me from all the awkward sitting with my face planted uncomfortably in the eye machine. I began to voice how much pain I was in, having walked in with a cane and obvious mobility problems, and asked how much longer this would take. He muttered something about a test that wasn't really necessary but something this particular Dr wanted him to do. We kept doing the test repeatedly, with the "blink, don't blink" issue. My eyes were so strained and tired by that time, having done all these other tests, that it was hard for me to suddenly stop blinking unexpectedly each time, so we kept repeating it over and over. He would mutter something to the effect that the scanner was not "picking up the right range" . I kept apologizing bc I thought it was my fault that he had to repeat it so often. Finally, after all the testing, we had to wait over 30 minutes for Dr. Nahl to talk to me. And boy did she talk! She bragged a lot and kept looking at and repeating my issues and how she was going the extra mile for me. When I stated that we had been there for awhile and my back was really hurting (which she responded to with condensation), she explained that the last test didn't need to be done and in fact, there was something wrong with the scanner itself and that's why he kept repeating it. I was stunned and bit frustrated bc here I was apologizing for being such a lame patient and unable to "stop blinking" - and it wasn't me afterall. All that said, we did not leave that office until 5:15! And it was like a torture session! I even mentioned the valet parking issue several times, expressing concern about them closing at 5pm and how we would get to our car. They weren't the least bit concerned. But sure enough, it was an ordeal getting outside and then getting to our car - which they had parked several blocks away! There was no way in my physical condition that I could walk that far, so I had to wait another 40 minutes on a cold, wintery nite to finally get our car and go home in major traffic! (Thx happily to the parking security guard who had to drive my son over in his cart) Here's the best part.....! After weeks of planning, a 3 hr OV/testing and a couple of phone calls to verify everything, one week before surgery, I get a call and msg that says 'gee we're really sorry, but apparently Dr. Nahl isn't part of your insurance plan afterall, so we have to cancel the surgeries and we'll just let you know when she does accept your insurance'. Whaaatt!!!??? You have got to be kidding me! I don't care how good she thinks she is, I don't want her to do my surgery anymore - that was the final straw - and that's not even everything I could add to this review about my experience. Anywho, do what you want with this information, but I personally lost my respect for her and her office staff.

There are lots of Opthamologists to choose from in San Diego and I know I made the right choice. I…read morenever had to wait longer than 5 minutes in the waiting area and was never rushed. I felt well taken care of, every step of the way! Dr.Nahl chooses staff that reflect her: very attentive and intelligent. Quality care that is uniquely personal. I elected to do the monovision surgery and I am being treated for dry eye as well. The price covers several after care appointments.
