I have been coming to this dentist office since the early 2000's. (2002?) Admittedly, the dentist has changed twice since then (the practice has been sold twice), but my hygienist has remained the same and I have liked the dentists. The current dentist, Dr. Viet Nguyen DDS is very cheery. My hygienist feels like an old friend and I always enjoy chatting with her (as much as is possible while being cleaned!) The practice is very clean and modern. They have TVs on the ceiling to entertain you during treatments. The staff are polite. You are given a bag of complimentary dental items when you leave (Toothbrush, floss, etc.) They text you to remind you of appointments. The office is conveniently located near the Poway Pomerado hospital and has free parking immediately outside. I recommend Poway Modern Dentistry. read more

Messed up my teeth by shaving down too much. I went about a year ago, and ever since have been having ongoing problems with my teeth. I've never had a problem with my teeth before, but I went to them once and it's a year since then and I'm still looking for dentists to fix my problem. Every appointment I would wait an hour to two hours laying in the chair before anyone even actually came to help me. My teeth that they worked on have been sensitive for a year now and even with going back multiple times to tweak it they constantly tell me to give it time and it should become less sensitive. They have also shaved one side of my teeth down too much to the point where the left side of my molars don't touch when clinching my jaw and there was pain during the procedure. All in all it was a horrible experience and don't reccomend this dentist. Ps. Before the practice was sold I really liked them but it's honestly just the new dentist. The workers and everyone in there is very nice, but the actual dentist sucks. read more

Been meaning to write a review on this dentistry for awhile now.... I love this dental clinic and seeing Dr. Nguyen! This is such a family oriented clinic and they are so kind. Once I had to come with my 3 month old baby and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I was getting a cleaning and my baby wouldn't stop fussing. So the kind hygienist kept going back and forth from her seat to soothe him. Dr. Nguyen has the best bedside manner and has an ability to explain things in a digestible manner. He also offers quick check ups for when you are in doubt about something. As a mom, this is something that I value with the little time I have for myself. Dr. Viet Nguyen has continued the extraordinary care that his predecessor Dr. Robert Marcus began some 25 years ago. Dr. Nguyen replaced a tooth as an implant and as well as replacing old fillings.He insisted on it being perfect and it was. His staff goes out of their way to be kind, considerate, and professional. From cleaning to appointments to working with insurance companies, the entire team is top notch. I live in Encinitas and drive 45 minutes just because he and his staff are the best. I had Dr. Nguyen check on a crown I had placed where there was bleeding and discomfort, he told me after looking at it for 10 seconds that it looked fine even though the RDA also noticed there was bleeding. He just made me feel extremely dismissed. Fast forward a year later, I still have the same issues with discomfort and bleeding, had a second opinion where there seemed to be an infection and the tooth needed to be extracted. I just wish I had a little more than a minute to talk with him about issues I was having. The dentist office has been sold twice since our family dentist of 20 years retired. Now a rude and uncaring office manager and bad experiences has made this office a nightmare. My crown fell off 4 months after the dentist re-cemented it, then they charged my insurance company to re-cement it again. Then, when I went back a week later to ask for an adjustment ( It was high and hurting) the office manager refused to let me see the dentist even though I had an appointment. She held my pain for ransom for the $58 copay from a bill that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. I was getting ready to take a 13-hour flight and she refused to even let me talk to Dr. Nguyen. She claimed he agreed he was not going to do the adjustment. Then when I said I'd wait until he was available, she threatened to have me physically removed. My crown ended up falling off again after my trip to Japan and I suffered long flights and pain and no insurance in Japan. i plan to report them for both insurance fraud and bad business practice. I am left with no biting molar on my lower left side now have no choice but to to start over with a new dentist and pay $1,000 for a whole new crown. The office manager refers to Dr. Nguyen's patients only as "customers" indicating from the abandonment I experienced and the fraud - They do not care about anything but making money. read more

Dr. Viet Nguyen has not skipped a beat in taking over the wonderful dentistry of Dr. Robert Marcus. I was a patient for decades, and I wasn't a bit surprised that Dr Nguyen was extraordinary in his care and treatment. He did the difficult job of replacing my tooth (from an implant). It fits perfectly. He also replaced fillings. He, like Dr, Marcus, never does work that was not reasonably non-urgent. On top of that, his staff of dental hygienists is working with state-of-the-art tools. He can create perfect crowns right there while you wait. His insurance planner Shauana is so professional and interfaces with insurance companies to make sure YOU GET ALL THE BENEFITS YOU DESERVE. i cannot recommend his practice more highly. read more

I have just started going here for my dental care. As a senior lady changing dentists was not easy. I chose Dr Nguyen in part because he served with our Marines. It turns out I could not have found a better dental practice. Dr is engaging and professional at the same time. The hygienists are so kind and using top of the line equipment. The office staff could not have been more helpful. Always cheerful and welcoming - even at 7 in the morning. A lovely facility with lots of available parking. I've been attending this dental facility since Dr. Marcus was the dentist. I was disappointed when he retired. This is the 2nd dentist to replace Dr. Marcus, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue coming here. However, I think I like Dr. Nguyen even more than Dr. Marcus. I didn't think that would be possible, but he is very knowledgeable and patient. In addition, I just had a procedure done, and it went really well. I hope he sticks around for a long time. read more

I work in an office near Modern Dentistry, and came in to ask if they would be able to provide me with a take home toothbrush and toothpaste, fully prepared that they may not be willing to provide it. What I was not prepared for was interacting with an aggressive and ill-mannered white woman who would go on to make disgusted faces and throw her hands around while speaking to me. I was first faced with a confused and suspicious front desk receptionist who proceeded to ask, who I'm assuming to be an office manager, if I could have a spare toothbrush. This is an unusual request from me but seeing as there are multiple dental clinics in the building who have shown nothing but kindness to other staff, myself included, I didn't think it would be a big deal. Whoever the blonde white lady that sits in the back office is, (I'm assuming an office manager) she is the most disrespectful and unprofessional individual I have interacted with in a long time. I was unaware of how big of a deal it is to ask a DENTAL office for a spare toothbrush. She is old enough to make decisions about her tone and the faces she makes when speaking to someone, so I am inclined to believe that she was consciously making judgements about me and had already decided she was going to be rude to me when she first looked at me. The staff here will talk down to you and act as if you do not belong, and are most definitely not welcome. I am sorry for anyone who has had to interact with this person. Never have I been made to feel so unwelcome in a clinical setting, I am not sure how this office is able to retain patients let alone provide care with people like this working there. I will add that the staff then locked me out of the office and would not open the door when I knocked. I hope someone who works at Modern Dentistry takes this seriously and does something about the disrespectful and unwelcoming staff, as I would hope that this behavior is not reflective of this practice. read more

Dr. Nguyen is very knowledgeable and takes his time to get to know his patients. He answered all questions I had with patience and I did not feel like he was rushing through the procedure. I am normally not a fan of being at the dentist... however, this office made it a good experience and there was no pain, even during the numbing shots. The staff is very friendly and is not a cooperate office. I recommend this office to everyone! read more
