HIGHLY recommend Stowe Plaza Dental for all of your dental needs! Let me preface this review by saying that I have a totally rational fear of dentists. My previous dentists have been nothing short of awful and it took me a long time to find a reputable business. It could go into detail about all of my horror stories but ain't nobody got time to read that novel! I will admit, I try to take relatively good care of my teeth, but obviously, annual visits for are a must for everyone, not matter how meticulous you try to be in caring for your teeth. So needless to say, it took me years to get over my fear and just find a solid professional. My dentist is Dr. Anita Verma. She is the absolute BEST! When I tell you how gentle Dr. Verma is, that is a massive understatement. I didn't even know dentists were capable of being gentle if I'm being honest. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now that I am under her care. She constantly asks if you are okay throughout your cleanings and explains all her findings in detail. My husband also raves about Dr. Verma as he has a difficult time with cleanings, so she positioned him in a way that made it easier for him to manage in the chair. They also recommended an oral surgeon to him who also had equally stellar service. Kim manages the front office and is awesome. I usually communicate with her by email or text and she is always prompt and courteous in setting me up for my appointments and answering questions about my insurance coverage. I also love that they do not upsell their services but simply make recommendations. I'm due to go back soon for a crown (my very first one) and I am not in the least bit terrified like I would normally be going to another dentist. 5 incredible, shiny stars! read more

Love, love, love! The receptionist is so kind, welcoming, and efficient. From start to finish, I truly felt like I was their only patient. They took their time, checked in with me multiple times during the cleaning, and talked through my dental health in detail. I really appreciated how attentive and thorough they were. They also didn't pressure me with pricing -- it felt more like suggestions rather than requirements, which was refreshing compared to other places where I've felt rushed or pressured. First of all, Kim greeted me with a warm, friendly greeting when I walked in the office. Sarai was gentle when taking X-rays, and polishing my teeth at the end. Dr. Nguyen took great care in cleaning my teeth. He took time to listen to me and completely answered all my questions. This is the BEST dentist visit I have ever had!!!! I went to Stowe Plaza Dental for the first time today to have a filling fixed and everything about my experience was wonderful from start to finish. Kim, the office assistant was sensational with her customer service. She was able to book me an appointment in 3 days! She was very friendly and helpful, sent me paperwork before hand and used texting to communicate which made the new patient process a breeze. I was assigned Dr. Verma. She was so sweet , caring , thorough and gentle. Came here at the recommendation of a friend and totally worth the visit. I've always been to old school asian dentists that like to tear up my teeth and gums and also use the x-ray machine that's so big it requires it's own room. Not so here! I got comfortable in the chair and did not have to get up the whole hour it took to do my checkup and cleaning. The x-ray machine pops out of a little closet next to the chair. And you can see the x-rays on a flat panel screen that swings toward you :) I almost fell asleep in the chair - I was so comfortable! Staff is great and they explain everything to you :) read more

I was referred to this place by a couple co workers and I am so glad i listened to them! Prior to Stowe, I was using Mira Mesa Smilecare (WORST SERVICE EVER - DO NOT GO THERE). Stowe's staff are extremely personable and so genuine! I'm always greeted and acknowledged whenever I have an appointment with them. Dr. Nguyen is extremely professional, friendly and very emphatic towards patient's with negative prior dental experiences. I changed jobs about a year ago and with new jobs, I had new insurance coverage and was really worried I would have to go somewhere else but thankfully they accept my current insurance. One of their staff, Kim (i think that's her name), helped me with everything! She went above and beyond and called both my previous insurance as well as previous dentist and took care of all paperwork and transition for me. Highly recommend this place! read more

Wow best dentist office EVER!! We had a week to use our insurance before we moved and found Stowe plaza dental - they were so nice and accommodating to get us in THAT WEEK! The office was clean and beautiful- the receptionist amazing band beautiful she text me to make it so easy!! MAKE SURE TO READ HER DIRECTIONS IN HER EMAIL because maps takes you somewhere completely different lol but she was so great I really appreciate her - I was even running late - because kids - and she was amazing with that too. Recently after trying a Blue Shield HMO pre-assigned dentist at my other half's insistence to see if cost was a factor when seeking quality (basic) dental care (see my 5/8/2015 review - Pacific Dental) I decided to return/stick with Dr. Nguyen for a number of reasons - such as he's ethical, professional, has hands down expertise in addition to employing intelligent and friendly staff. I've known Dr. Nguyen now for over 8 years and have recommended him to numerous associates (as well as strangers) and have never known ANYONE that didn't have a positive experience with him or his office staff. So if you're looking for an honest dentist with competent skills that does excellent work and doesn't overcharge - look no further - this place to go. I can't say enough good things about him or this office - deserves 5 stars plus! read more

We were very impressed with Dr. Joe the first time we visited him. He has a very gentle and comforting manner. My 5 year old needed a filling and we were worried that she would throw a fit. Dr. Joe was amazing with her. He is so sweet to the little ones. The way he calls the cavities sugar bugs and says that he has to do a really good cleaning so he can give her a pretty silver star makes it not at all scary for the little ones. The entire staff is great. They told us how well Audrey did. Well. I have to say that the reason she did so well is that she really likes and trusts Dr. Joe. There are a lot of bad dentists out there. No getting around that. Thankfully, every once in a while you come across a dental practice that restores your faith in the word "doctor." The dentists at Stowe know that building a good practice is like building a good company - you do it one customer at a time. These guys are courteous, professional, and most importantly, HONEST. These guys have what you call integrity, the number one quality that you should look for in people who will be examining the most important asset you have - your body/health. The first requirement for anyone going to see any doctor is to know yourself, in this case, your teeth. I know I have strong teeth and that with normal brushing and care, I should not have any cavities. I have at times come across dentists in the past who told me I have a few cavities...the first time I was told this was like 7 years ago. I knew I didn't have any cavities, so I politely declined the recommended "treatment" , did my research and went to a reputable, well-reviewed dentist who told me my teeth were in good shape. Waddya know, 7 years later and no cavities still. Point being, you can't always trust what people tell you just because they are a "professional" - make sure you get a second and even third opinion before you do any work (like drilling) that could harm your teeth irrevocably. The reason I even bother to go to a dentist is that I know that even with normal brushing plaque is going to build up. Also, I often fail to floss (a habit I am hoping to do correct) and know that my gums after a period without cleanup are probably not in the best shape and need some polishing. Having moved to SD recently, I needed to find a dentist since my last checkup was over a year ago. I did my research, and chose Stowe Dental based on proximity and reputation. I saw Dr. Joe Nyugen, and let me tell you, this guy and his staff are first class. We went through the normal visual checkup, X-rays to check for gum disease, and then a thorough clean up. Took 1 hour total. As expected, he let me know pretty sternly that I needed to floss more regularly to ensure healthy gums, but that overall my teeth and gums were in good shape. They did a great job removing the plaque and my teeth are white and bright. That kind of candor, reassurance, and integrity is not something that can be made up or replicated. It takes experience, education and more than anything ethics. And these guys have it in spades. The 9 five-star reviews preceding mine are for a reason. I am happy to add my own vote of confidence to a practice that deserves the praise it has received thus far. read more

Joe and his crew work really hard to make sure you're happy - everything from free touch-ups on fillings to providing extra checkups just to make sure your oral hygiene is at its best. Doctor Verma Rocks!!! And totally impress by her staff as well. I came here without having any expectations but I was blown away by their professionalism and very helpful kind nature. When it comes to going to dentist I usually try to avoid it since it makes me nervous and anxious. Dr. Verma explained everything in detail during my root canal procedure and made me ultra comfortable. I have to say that all the horror stories were proven wrong by Dr. Verma and her staff about the root canal procedure. Not only I did not feel any pain or discomfort during the prcedure but even after I went home I had very little pain or discomfort. Now I am not afraid and I will be going regularly to Dr. Verma's office. And, yes they are very affordable and willing to work with your situation. In my book Dr. Verma and her staff are Awesomely A++ and I highly recommend it. read more

Update to my previous review: Still a wonderful place. Yeah. I'm raving about this dentist office again. Lol I am a patient of Dr. Nguyens but I needed to have a wisdom tooth pulled. He does not do those so I had to see the other dentist in the office, Dr. Verma. I was so nervous about having this process done since I've never been through it. But I cannot tell you how amazing this lady & the staff is. They are so nice & so helpful. Answered every single one of my questions. I thought I would be so uncomfortable & that I'd be there forever lol (only because of what I was going in for, I've pretty much never had to wait in the waiting room). I was literally only there for 30 minutes! Granted, yes, I was lucky & had a fairly simple wisdom tooth to be removed. Regardless, they are wonderful here. And I will never go anywhere else.
