It has a mix of terrain, from a concrete mini with a spine to large stair sets and hubbas. My two big complaints are some features are tough to get speed for and one side of the park is completely open, so if your board shoots away, it keeps going until it winds up in the dirt. Originally it had wood features that blocked the open side of the park but those are long gone. It's safe and clean, so bring the kids or get your skills sharp before starting the day. Parents, please remember the park is used by adults too, so make sure your child can at least roll around a little and it's a good bet not to leave them unsupervised so they don't get run over. Adult skaters and BMX riders tend to watch out for the little ones, but you can't see everywhere at once!

This past weekend I actually got to try some Torq boards and fell in love with the 7'2 modfish. I even saw someone out in the lineup with a beautiful blue version of it so I pulled the trigger. I had no idea how popular Torq surfboards were because I was calling shop after shop and the answer was the same "Sorry we're all sold out but the next batch coming in is XX date". I feel extremely lucky to happen upon this shop because what were the chances they'd have the exact BRAND, MODEL, SIZE, and COLOR??? Plus it was like one of the last ones (if not, the last one) in stock at the store. The universe has answered my wishes. The staff was super friendly and easy to talk to as well!

I felt like I was being monitored the entire visit by overly controlling lifeguards. The office employee at the front was very nice, but once you get inside, the atmosphere becomes uncomfortable. At one point I was barked at to move because some kids needed to take a swim test. Later, my granddaughter was swimming, so I got in the pool with her because she had to wear a red wristband due to her age--even though she swims perfectly well. I was standing on the pool steps in the water, but the lifeguard insisted I had to be fully "in the pool water." I don't understand why it matters whether I'm standing or sitting on the step, especially since I had been sitting there earlier with no issue. I used to bring my own children to this pool years ago, and people seemed much happier then. You were expected to swim back and forth, not take a formal swim test like you're training for the Olympics. Please do better, Poway. I pay taxes for this pool, and it feels like the people who get the most benefit from it are the lap swimmers and swim classes.

You can pay $12 at Woodland Park or $11 at Alga Norte and they don't care where you're a resident. Next, their open swim area is TINY. It's essentially the steps and maybe 6 feet out beyond them. The rest is swim lanes. The lifeguard on duty suuucked. First, my kids went to get in without me. They are four and five and both have been in swim lessons since they were babies, so they are great swimmers. The lifeguard yelled at me to go in with them. So, I did. I sat on the steps in the pool to watch them swim. The lifeguard then yelled at me that I was too far away from them. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was within 3 feet of them. I noticed she said the same thing to another mom, so at least she was consistent. It's a ridiculous set of rules when the open swim area is so small and I'm right there. They ask your kids age upon entry and they get a colored wristband based on age. It's obviously just a blanket assumption they place on age and skill level, so good swimmers are unfortunately punished. They do have a splash pad that my kids enjoyed and it looks like you can grab a plastic chair to take wherever you want to sit. You couldn't pay me to come back though. Between the cost and the dumb rules, I'll go elsewhere.

It looks like they turned a baseball field into a Hugh dog park. I like that they were able to repurpose the old field. There's a new baseball diamond near by. They all have grass,not weeds. SPACIOUS AND GRASSY (5 stats)…read more It's so hard to find a good dog park in San Diego that has ample space, separation of big and small dog park, and grassy. It's in the heart of Poway at their civic center that has everything for the community. Lots of community and family public usages for their community-residence and very clean. We had a Pomeranian meetup here and imagine a ton of tiny Poms roaming safely and freely in a very spacious dog for smaller dogs. Occasionally some people brought their small to medium dog that had big dog energy in the area but all owners were respectful and watched their dog's actions. I didn't see a singly poop in the park and it was one of the cleanest dog parks I've been to. Too bad it's a far drive or we would be regulars. This was the first time I seen my new Pomeranian open up and play. She didn't want to leave and kept playing and playing after over an hour being there. I do wish there were some signs. The civic center area is big and we had walked around just to find the dog park section is in the back behind the baseball fields. Eve though it was a little distance walk, we felt very safe during the day. I'd be cautious towards the early morning or evenings as this is east/inland and I can foresee coyotes being near

A good amount of climbing to keep children occupied. With a restroom onsite, not a port o potty - it's a good option to visit for a break or an escape especially for kids. With our luck, we were the only big party there! There were a few families but not crowded at all. There are several sitting areas that are covered which are a free for all and a large covered table which I believe you need to make a reservation with the city. (I did email the city but no response.) There are 2 playground areas. One of which is a toddler area and the other structure is for bigger kids. The park is clean, spacious, and has bathrooms. The parking is a tiny lot but there is ample street parking since it's tucked in a neighborhood. Daytime is safe. Don't know what happens here at night though!

There's plenty of lessons, hockey leagues and free skate time going on. Need too check the schedule for each. Might feel rustic as it's been here for so long, but skates are still well maintained. So, I primarily come here for lessons. I don't particularly dislike the place, but it also isn't…read morethe best. Reason being is that, there's a huge lack of safety when lessons are conducted. I don't feel comfortable taking lessons when it's too crowded. It mostly feels like that almost 90% of the time. When I mean crowded, crowded as in, in a line of 20+ students, the instructors prompt the class to skate across the ice, and you're too busy looking over your shoulder trying to not trip and crash into another person. You ever drive and see other people driving and swerving in and out of their lanes? This is a similar scenario, but with literal blades on your feet. Not a bad thing entirely, but the lessons are nerve wracking because of this. The quality of lessons are okay. Most of the instructors are much younger junior coaches, and they are friendly. However I feel like there is no direction and curriculum when the junior coaches teach. There are also senior coaches in some of the classes and I much preferred the senior coaches as they had a better sense of what to do in what level. In comparison to the other rinks I go to for lessons, the ones that require you to be enrolled in the Learn to Skate association before enrolling had better curriculum and I actually learned more stuff there than I did here. Now for the public sessions.... I normally go on the weekends. Public session hours are only available during certain hours on the weekdays but not really ideal for working adults, so I go on the weekends. But it. is. so. crowded. Crowded as in, too much traffic on the ice, and the ice is always melting! The ice doesn't stay solid and is really slippery, and I found myself always tripping and wreaking havoc to my knees. I think that experience alone makes me never want to use my free public session passes at all. If they had opened their public session hours more during the evening hours, I probably would go here more.
