So just to be clear, Power on Solar is the contractor for SunPower. I signed my contract with SunPower through Power on Solar. Their sales team promised AAA customer rebate and got me to sign the contract, now that I paid my solar panel in full and trying to get my rebate, Natalie is nowhere to found! She doesn't respond to any of my emails! I reached out to SunPower and want the upper management to consider stop using Power on Solar as their contractor. I want to clarify that I am an AAA member! The fact that no one from Power on Solar would respond to my inquiry raise concern about the company's credit. Furthermore, few of my friend have problems getting the referral bonus. So, be careful before you sign your contract. If you don't care about the rebate or bonus, go for Power on Solar, but if you anticipate off setting your cost with the bonus/rebate, think three times before you put your signature on the paper! read more

After much research we purchased solar from RePower/SolarUniverse in 2016. Installation was fine - that is not the problem. Be warned when you purchase solar to find out how good the company is in terms of honoring their work and signed warranty contracts. We have been without full production for over 12 months and dealing with Brian Rinna has been a nightmare. When our panels are clearly not working, we get the runaround on getting them repaired or replaced. Too many details to share here but all we want is for them to honor warranty work that is within the contract. I am now at the point of securing a mediator to simply get this company to do what they said they would do in the warranty! Months of no response go by...life is busy so it is hard to dedicate your life to getting your solar panels repaired! Be very cautious about working with this company, unless you don't care about potential issues after you've installed your solar panels. I think we can all agree if you are going to have solar panels for a long time, at some point you may need service work or repairs done. Look for companies with a track record of following through on what they say they will do. We have a family business so I do not make these comments lightly, but at this point, it's important to me that other consumers are aware. I highly recommend Power On Solar. My wife and many other people inform me that I can be difficult to work with. Results are what are important to me and Power On Solar's installation and early support results are very good. We had some miscommunication issues, but contract to panels on my roof took about six weeks and as part of our agreement they did some extra electrical work which Tesla and Sunrun through Costco would not/never agree to. The install team was courteous and professional and asked me numerous times how and where I wanted things. I don't have much experience overseeing construction projects but everyone I know and all that I have heard is about how difficult and stressful it is. Power On Solar was much more agreeable and low stress than I expected. We are pleased to have an update and resolution- our solar is now back on track! 2 technicians came out last week and despite not being able to get things running they said they'd notify their Supervisor. I didn't necessarily have faith so I emailed Natalie just to make sure who reiterated that as well. Jared came out 2 days later and was able to resolve the issue. We appreciate that he called and even came out late in the day - past 5pm and that he was quick and thorough. If I can only make a suggestion to the company on timely responses and follow through that would make a world of a difference. A reasonable time would be within 48 hours or even an email indicating the voicemail message was received and that we'd receive a call back within x amount of time. Or maybe an online system for initiating and tracking service calls and trouble tickets. That ensures follow up and gives more transparency to the customer. I certainly understand the company was relocating offices; however simply following through would've helped us to have more trust and satisfaction. It should not have required numerous calls and calls to the manufacturer Sun Power so they could also send messages to Power On. Regardless we are happy with the end result and hope to have a positive experience as time goes on. read more

We signed our contract with Power On Solar in November 30, 2021. Finally, after many calls and e-mails, the solar panels were installed September 1, 2022-9 months later! But now we have been waiting about 9 weeks for them to have their work inspected and approved by the City of San Francisco. We have been calling regularly to find out when the inspection will occur, which normally takes 3 weeks. We have received promises but no scheduled inspection date so we are still without solar power almost a year after we signed the contract and having paid them $21,000 for the installation. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Power On and Jeremy in particular. They were really great to work with and they did all the negotiation with the roofers when I had the roof at the front of the house replaced at the same time: the roofers came and tore the old roof off; then Power On came and installed the struts for the panels; then the roofers came back and installed the new roof and the flashing around all the struts; and lastly Power On returned to install the panels. We have used Repower twice now for solar installation and both times have been such a wonderful experience for us. With our most recent solar installation Jeremy and Brian came out and were very prepared and thorough with explaining the different options for where the solar panel placement could be. They wanted us to be happy with aesthetically how the panels looked on our home, while optimizing the placement for sun exposure. They were patient and helpful in explaining the process to me and walking us through how it would go. The installation process was very smooth as well! It was a two day process: day 1 installing brackets, day 2 installing panels. I appreciated, having small children, that the installation was not disruptive to our daily routine. We were able to be home and continue about our day as usual. We hardly noticed they were there and the noise was minimal. I was worried nap time would be disruptive but it wasn't at all. The staff again was very friendly and helpful in explaining how the process worked and walked us through what was happening each step of the way! We have been so happy with our panels. Not only do they look beautiful, but they have been so helpful with our PG&E bills during this cold winter season. Power On Solar installed my solar back in October 2020. I noticed in October 2023, that somewhere in mid-September, o ne of my panel stopped producing. It has been extremely difficult and frustrating experience to get Power On Solar to respond to my service request. After several follow-ups they triaged the issue with Enphase. Enphase said that it seems to be a wiring issue or a malfunctioning microinverter. The microinverter arrived at my home from Enphase on November 3 and since then just trying Power On Solar to come and troubleshoot the system and replace the microinverter hasn't happened yet. When I call Power On Solar, the person in charge of the accounting answers and she has no clue about who I am and refuses to find my account number. Every time I call, I am told that the staff is in a meeting and they take my name phone number with a promise to call back. The contact person who was helping triage the issue with Enphase tells me after 3 weeks of follow-ups that she is not the right person to help and that I should reach out to their service department's email address. Absolutely worst customer service. Their quality of work might be OK, but their customer service is terrible. I would not recommend Power On Solar. read more

Kristina was very helpful setting up the review and install, the system was sized appropriately and to my satisfaction. Total time from contract to finish install was a bit over 1 month, pretty good considering permits and inspection and getting onto the Power On install calendar. You will pay more $ per panel for the best technology - however please understand that you will get this money back in spades over the life of the panels above any other provider. Again- Power on GUARANTEED their production offering a rebate for any underperformance of the panels... this is shocking considering that unseasonably cloudy weather could reduce performances. I just purchased a 5.5Kw system installed by Solar Universe right after the July 4th weekend. Twenty LG 275w panels with microinverters. I got 4 quotes from different solar venders and Solar Universe was very competitive. Jeremy was my solar rep and he was outstanding in keeping in contact with me throughout the whole process. He was very patient with my questions and was 100% dedicated to getting a system that met my requirements. Solar Universe presented my proposal in a very nice report without any pressure to purchase. They worked with me regarding some electrical issues and took care of it from their side. Install went very fast and smooth and the panels are working great. They installed the panels and painted all electrical conduits to match my house. The electrical install was done professionally. They handle all the paperwork that needs to be submitted to PGE and keep you updated on the status of the switch over. They set up the website portal so you can get web updates on your panel production(if you have micro inverters). It really has been very hassle free big house upgrade. I recommend everyone to call Solar Universe(Livermore) for a quote when you are ready to look into solar. You won't be disappointed One particular vendor was incredibly rude and high pressure to get to my house for a quote and very high pressure during the quote process and after. Their price was also double what Solar Universe price for a 5.1Kwh system. Solar Universe was not rude or high pressure at all. Do not let other vendors bad behavior tarnish the reps of other companies. I learned a lot during this process. Brief summary: excellent service beforehand, during, and on follow-up. They will explain everything to you at whatever level you need explained; I am highly technically minded and they were willing to deliver highly technical information as was appropriate. My only concern, and the **only** reason I awarded four instead of five stars, was how after installation I was finding bits of wire, cable ties, pallet strap and screws around my back yard, which I found upsetting because I have two small children and a dog. I spoke to the owners about requiring their installers to keep waste bags on-belt and they took my suggestion seriously; I hope to hear from their future customers that literally no trash has been left behind. Clarification: the amount of stuff left behind was enough to fill up one snack size zipper baggie (that's the smallest one you'll get at grocery stores). Most of it wasn't sharp or poisonous but there were a few screws and some sharp sheet metal bits, which numbered between four and 10. Furthermore, because of the north-front orientation of my house and the low-profile mounting racks under the panels, it is literally impossible to see the system from anywhere but my back yard. It does not change the aesthetic of my house. I brought on Solar Universe as a partner for my primary residence in Dublin, California. Kent Steele, one of their specialists, was with us for over a year before we decided to take the plunge. Because we have four redwoods in the back it was important to us to take several sun samples from our target location over the course of the year before we decided to move forward; obviously this was wise because redwoods never really stop growing and we were able to determine exactly what their future growth would mean for our future energy generation. Clarification: the sun exposure numbers were measured over two hot seasons and one cold season so we could determine how much a full year's growth would decrease the sun exposure. It wasn't decreased by much, so we figure we have the full 20+ years of expected sun exposure even in spite of our four redwoods to the southwest. So Kent came over three times over almost a year to take those aforementioned samples from my rooftop. My wife and I were pleased with the figures so we went forward with a 4.25KW system which has literally changed the way we work with our energy company. This past year we generated over six megawatts of electricity, coming very close to wiping out our entire year's energy cost. Our true-up bill at the year's end was $180, which is on the high side, but the monthly was never more than $6 and often was net negative. We look forward to recommending Solar Universe *over* Solar City for anyone who speaks with us about our installation. We passed inspection the first time and were awarded permission to switch on on March 3, 2014. It has been a pleasure -- even financing the system outright I am paying $50 less per month than my average monthly electricity costs were before. Therefore, to own a system the savings were INSTANTANEOUS *and* I got a huge tax credit. You can't go wrong if you have your own property, that property is in good shape, and you're willing to buy an electricity generator to sit on top of it. In July 2017 when my Solar system diagnostics showed error alerts, I discovered that the installer franchise had dissolved, but was put in touch with Re)Power, a former Solar Universe franchise. Although Re)Power is not responsible for the work of the original installer, they generously offered to help. As of April 2018, they determined that 2 panels were faulty. Unfortunately, after a year, the problem(s) had not been corrected. - In early June 2018, Re)Power said they would replace the panels the following week. - I sent multiple status request messages, but through July there was no response from RE)Power - Re)Power informed me that only a very short phone call was needed to remove 2 swapped out micro inverters from my account. That never happened. Note: The vendor that replaced the panels (September 2018) had the account corrections done by the next day. I would also note that this 1 year delay has cost me approximately 500 kWh of lost power. On August 6 at 5:15PM I received a one sentence email from Re)Power asking if they could come out the next day and replace the panels. No apology or explanation. I notified them that I had already moved on to another provider. From a customer service & communication perspective, this has been a frustrating experience. At almost no time during this extended process did they initiate communication with me. Furthermore, I repeatedly informed RE)Power that if they could not do this work I would find another vendor. read more

I actually looked into quite a few solar companies before making my decision 1. to go solar and 2. who to go with. There are a TON of options it seems but really very few GOOD options. I ended up deciding to buy the solar system instead of leasing (which I am very happy I did). I was considering leasing through SunRun, SolarCity (which primarily lease) or buying through The Solar Company and Solar Universe. Let me just start by saying, you can have all these people over to your house if you want but you really are wasting your time. No company stands up to the quality of Solar Universe! I had Jeremy Lux who is their energy consultant come over and he was SO HELPFUL. I was able to break down with him objectively what the other companies were offering compared to what my goals were (obviously save money and produce solar). Once again, let me save you time and headache, if you dont want 5 different people coming over to your house trying to sell you garbage, have Jeremy consult you! He is a straight forward guy who is extremely knowledgable and helpful. He was so helpful I ended up asking him for recommendations for some roofing I needed done (which was also great). I didnt work with any of their other consultants so I cant speak to that but he was great. Finally the time came to install my solar and just like my preceding experience, the work that was done was once again top notch! It's the little details that matter from installing great looking low profile panels to painting the conduit (my neighbor has solar done by SolarCity and all the conduit is not painted and exposed, looking not great) it all looks great. In the end they were fast with the installation (1 day!) and the permitting (next day!). The only downside which isnt their fault is that it takes PG&E a couple weeks to get their stuff together before it begins running the meter back.
