Among the studios I've seen, Powerflow in Clifton is gorgeous- new, immaculate, with adequate space for changing and showering. There is adequate parking behind the Grimaldis pizza in case you need to reward yourself after a good workout ;) There is only one studio but it is spacious with natural light and mirrors (if you're a visual person like me and you need to check out your asanas). The heating radiates from the floor so you don't have uneven or dry gusts of air. I believe they rent mats and they have a nice shop for mats, clothes, towels, and cold drinks. The prices for classes are reasonable and come in different amounts so you can either check it out or dive right in. read more

I'm a beginner yogi who is now addicted to hot yoga thanks to Powerflow! All of the instructors are really wonderful and make you feel comfortable, no matter what level you are. The Studio Manager of Clifton, Kimie, is especially awesome and has such a strong positive energy that you feel throughout class. Also, as everyone has already mentioned, the studio itself is gorgeous and has plenty of parking in the back. After a long and busy day, there is nothing better than indulging in 75 minutes on yourself. Powerflow yoga helps me be present on my mat while allowing me to leave behind the stresses of the day. I always walk out drenched and feeling reborn and rejuvenated. Honestly, if you have been wanting to try hot yoga...do try! This is the best thing you can do for yourself that money can buy! They offer drop in rates and also class packages for purchase (5 classes, 10 classes and monthly rates). Powerflow is located in multiple locations. I have practiced in Chatham, Morristown and now Clifton and I have to say the studios are beautiful and all the teachers are amazing. Being new to the practice, I did not know much about vinyasa style yoga. But the teachers are knowledgeable in guiding a class of various physical levels. Each pose can be modified to suite you. What I enjoy most is that class is challenging for all levels but you choose your own pace! So for a newbie like me, when you are feeling like your at your edge while in a pose....you can just stay in that modification while those who want more can go deeper into the pose. One thing I learned through yoga is that you can always improve and grow in your practice - and this way of thinking is something that can be applied off the mat to your everyday life. I've been wanting to take a yoga class for...ever and this was perfect since it was hot yoga which I've recently been interested in. I was semi-nervous at first only because I'd never taken a class. Any nervousness was completely abated as soon as I walked into the studio. I immediately felt comfortable and as if I had been there before. Fellow yelper Allie D led us through several poses and was really encouraging. I immediately liked her. The room wasn't as hot as I thought it would be but for me it's all good because I love that hot, dry air. I genuinely have never sweat as much as I did in this class. I seriously looked like I had just stepped out of a shower.... and it was glorious! I think the rates are reasonable. They offer drop-in classes for only $20 which I think is very reasonable and I plan on stopping in again. Powerflow also offers family and kids classes which I thought was great. When I left I was set on getting home, showering and taking a nap. Instead, I made myself something to eat and was overwhelmed with energy. I love Powerflow yoga in the clifton studio. The staff and positive energy of the studio can be felt before you walk in the door. I am new to this hot yoga studio but I plan on only going to Powerflow studios whenever I can. I really look forward to Sunday morning class with Melissa Kaban. Getting up early on a Sunday was never a priority for me but now whenever I am home I make sure to make this class. Wow! How I love this place. I live a few minutes away and decided to check it out one day. They had a package for new students so I decided​ to take a few classes ... even though it was hot yoga. I love the Powerflow chain, to begin. But to be specific about this location, it's a great place to practice. Everything looks and feels clean. The teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced. The sign in process is easy, you can even sign up for classes through your smartphone (here or any other location). They have lockers, showers and changing rooms for your convenience. PROS.. Brand new studio and eager to please! Great, generous attitudes! Easy to get to and plenty of parking @ Gramaldi's next door. All the instructors I have taken are really good with instruction and form. Love Jeff and his jivamuktu chanting!!! Funky music, too! Not too crowded!! At least not yet! Studio is HOT but not too hot like @ Fireshapers where it feels like HELL! Also offers warm classes which is a great change of pace. Better than most studios in terms of locker space and facilities (prob because BRAND NEW!) CONS Pricing is high as it is with many yoga studios in the area. Class times are not great for late morning or noontimes like in there other locations. Not as great a variety of classes as other location either. Maybe that will come in time. I've been to this location once and the Bloomfield and Wayne locations multiple times. Overall, everyone in the studio was very friendly and accommodating. The studio was clean and they had free towels, which was great because I had forgotten mine. The instructor for the class I had attended was not particularly good at instructing unfortunately. The class was challenging, but for beginners who weren't familiar with the poses, she did not offer any instruction or adjust anyone throughout the class. LOVE this studio! I've taken Meghan's class twice and I love the way she instructs the class. She's taught me some new things that I didn't know I could even do, and she's great with coming over to you and making adjustments. The studio is very clean, as are the bathrooms and showers, which are also spacious. There are plenty of lockers, just bring your own lock. They sell some yoga gear and they have water/coconut water if you need to buy some. Definitely give them a try, your first week is free :) read more

I've been here three or four times now, each with a different teacher. Every class has been different but excellent. Teachers accommodate all levels, music is always good and you wait the whole class just for that cool eucalyptus towel. The facilities are a little small but immaculately kept and the room is nice and spacious. Try Tuesday nights for the guys when an Ashton kutcher lookalike will make you laugh while you fall out of crow. read more

After taking a break from Powerflow over this summer to try out a few local yoga studios in the area, I have to say, I truly miss it. I love the classes and the teachers and how each flow is never cookie-cutter or inauthentic. The facilities in their various locations are wonderful, cozy, and inviting; not to mention the fact that they have so many locations in the best NJ towns. The room temperature strikes the perfect balance of hot and hot-as-hell so you can actually work up a sweat while challenging your body and your mind. They also provide towels, cold eucalyptus towels during shavasana, clean and convenient shower and bathroom facilities, and lockers. I'm quite fond of their yoga shop too. (Lots of fun PFY schwag, mats, and Spiritual Gangster gear). They also offer workshops and mix it up by offering fun yoga nights with a theme such as 80's or Halloween flows. I will definitely be coming back to Powerflow and I look forward to class with all the wonderful teachers that truly put their all into making Powerflow the great studio that it is. read more

I had never taken hot yoga, let alone yoga itself, until one of my good friends showed me Poweflow. My first class was on a Saturday, from 10:30 to 11:45 am and Christine Joseph taught the class. Now, be in mind that the class I took was a HOT Powerflow Vinyasa class, instead of a WARM Basics class. I decided to give it a shot and go all the way, with my best friend at my side. The class was AMAZING. And I immediately fell in love with the way I flowed with my inhale and my exhale and the way all the teachers played good music that helped with the easy flow. First off, my favorite teacher by far is Jennifer Vafakos. I believe it was two Sundays ago when I took her class and by the middle of the class my arms were so fatigued, I could barely lift myself up. But it was the best feeling ever. Jennifer plays a lot of classic music and classical with a hint of hip hop in her classes which I think helps a lot with the flow, the relaxation, and the hip hop beats help keep you energized. But back to the class. After the class, I couldn't even hold my mat for more than 30 seconds before my arms felt like they were going to give out. Again, best feeling ever. But then, from Sunday to about the following Thursday, I was sore EVERYWHERE from the neck down. It was AMAZING. I had never felt more proud of myself for working hard than in that moment when my shoulders ached and my legs and thighs felt so sore. And I have to give most of the credit to Jenn for teaching such a great class! Next, is Jeff Scios. Now, unfortunately, I was only able to take his class twice since I'm in school and whatnot, but he is probably the most energetic teacher I've had. He's very good with adjustments and whatnot and he's hilarious. The first class I took of his, I was nearly on the floor rolling (theoretically) with laughter. Kudos to you, Jeff! There is also Kanan Kapila, and I have only taken her class once because she was substituting for another teacher. But, her class was so much fun! She had such upbeat music and she turned all the lights off and pulled the shades down in the studio until it was almost pitch black in the room. Then, she gave us a few minutes to do a certain "routine" so you could say, and it was just loads of fun. :-) Lastly, there's Melissa Kaban. The last class I took (which was yesterday) was so much fun. I had never taken her class before and she is just the most adorable little thing. And she's got a good sense of humor too! I liked her class a lot mostly because she focused on things that some of the other teachers don't. For example, a full wheel. I can do one since I used to do gymnastics but it has been so long since I've done gymnastics so I'm not as flexible as I used to be. :( But anyways, Melissa focused on the full wheels towards the end of the class and I was finally able to do a full wheel comfortably! She had us face the wall and place our blocks against the wall with a space in between the blocks for our heads. I never thought of doing a full wheel that way and it really helped a lot! Thanks Melissa! But all in all, Powerflow is a great business. The atmosphere is relaxing and the classes are perfect for a stress-reliever and for a workout. The minute you walk into the studio you are welcomed with "Hellos" from both the teachers, and the interns (work exchange people). Then, you are filled with the aroma of incense and once you step foot on the cork floors of the studio itself, your feet and toes get nice and warm. It's a great thing the feel when you come in from a 30 degree wind chill! Totally, 100% recommend Powerflow to anyone looking for a good yoga class with great teachers. Some might think it's a little pricey, but it's worth it. It's completely and utterly worth it. :-) read more

I originally started my hot yoga journey in central NJ and along my travels, found a studio in Philadelphia I thought I'd never replace. But I did and I love Powerflow Yoga in Glen Rock, Clifton and Bloomfield. They're the only studios I've been to, but I'm sure the only places are great too. Highly recommend. Classes do tend to get crowded, but when you're that good, it is expected. I love love LOVE the instructors and the vibe. My go-to yoga place. read more

I've been practicing yoga for 2 years and have taken classes with a number of different instructors in North Jersey. If you are looking to join a studio that embodies the essence of yoga this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a physical workout in a heated room with certified yoga instructors and cold towels, by all means try this studio on for size. Having practiced at the Powerflow Clifton studio regularly for months (with the same instructors on a weekly basis), I came to realize that Powerflow functions more like a gym than a yoga studio. Teachers will guide you through a 60-75min class but that is all you can expect. With the exception of one or two instructors, most teachers shy away from the emotional and spiritual side of the practice. And unless you have been practicing there for years, don't expect teachers to know your name or make an attempt to introduce themselves to you - especially you beginners. Yoga means something different to everyone, but if you are looking for a studio that embraces all aspects of yoga, this is not the place for you. read more

So I am deeeefinitely new to the yoga scene. I started coming to PFY at the end of December in the hopes of finding an alternative to my current HIIT workouts, due to recent lower back issues I've been experiencing. I've tried other yoga classes over the years, and actually hated them because I felt that the flows were too quick, I never got a "workout", and just didn't really enjoy or appreciate the practice itself. However all of that changed when I took my first PFY class! I was instantly hooked. The studio itself is very pretty, tranquil, and clean. The people who work at the front desk as well as the instructors are nothing but extremely personable, helpful, and nice. Although most people taking the classes are pretty skilled and experienced, instructors don't pressure you to be something you're not and do crazy poses. They always give alternatives. They are happy to give you alignment tips throughout the class if you let them know you're looking for that kind of feedback. In about 3 weeks time, I am already feeling a difference in my strength and flexibility, too. I am overall VERY happy being a PF yogi :) read more
