I helped book a private group class for a friend's bachelorette, and honestly it was a highlight of the entire trip. the instructor was so nice, patient, and thorough. She explained everything so well, and even pushed and challenged us to do more complicated steps/moves even though it was everyone's first time doing acro yoga. The space is very spacious and clean, and I loved the tall windows with natural light, as well as the different colors cloths. They even allowed us to play our own spotify playlist!! Would highly recommend booking a class or private group class here to celebrate anything and anyone!!! read more

I took the 10 am Aerial Yoga class for beginners. The staff was welcoming and the instructor was warm and helpful. The friendly environment made me comfortable trying out each new move and even surprised myself at some point with what I could do! The spacing can be a little tight for a full class, and even though it was the middle of winter the studio was very hot. I would wear breathable workout clothes. I would love to sign up for another class in the near future! read more

Easy to find. They were kind at reception. Instructor was very inclusive. She explained things well. The bungees themselves were stable and no cause for concern. Half way in i needed mine adjusted. The class went a bit over time and I got to pick the final song to jump and twirl around to. I think this is meant for lighter people than myself but luckily i felt no body shaming. Its not my cup of tea but i see why others love it. It was interesting some people got stomach trouble or headaches or nausea from the spinning. After a car accident, I started attending OmFactory classes in 2019 and have seen my life change from being in daily pain to feeling normal again. I strengthened my core and figured out how to properly engage my body to stand up straight. Who knew you had to squeeze your butt so much? My knees and hips no longer ache given I've strengthened the muscles around the joints that were causing me pain. I've seen years of back hunching due to desk life reversed, and I no longer fear a walker as my future self. The studio itself is clean, beautifully lit, and well maintained. Many folks reviews mention stinky hammocks. Thankfully, that's no longer an issue as the hammocks are all washed daily in studio now rather than being sent out for laundry. The desk staff is a combination of paid employees and volunteers and thus you might not always get an ideal customer service experience. However, I've found the studio does try to air on the side of the customer (when honoring refunds, or rescheduling). If you ring the door and no-one answers, that tends to mean the staff is busy rigging. I recommend using the QR code the studio provides in an email when you sign up for your class. The classes are inclusive, body positive, and have levels for all students to succeed. One of the best parts about Omfactory is that they make progression pretty fluid, whereas while each instructor has a different style, (in terms of music, pacing, pose selection) the material itself is transferable. Having taken classes at other studios where beginner is accessible, and intermediate seems like a life goal away, Omfactory is a breath of fresh air. read more

What a cool concept! I tried aerial yoga with a friend for the first time. My friend is a pro. She's training for circus in fact. But she accompanied me to the beginner lesson (not the "fit to fly" level). It looks elegant, but requires hard work. Afterwards, it felt wonderful! A sense of achievement. I love their colorful silk hanging from the roof. The studio is tiny, but has two levels (the "alcove" above is lovely). Their bathrooms are so clean, spotless, and welcoming (it's just like at home, no shoes, a shower, toilet, and sink). As soon as you enter the studio you have to take shoes off, so the interior is very clean. The large windows in the yoga room along with the big floor to ceiling mirror give the whole space a sense of openness and lightness. Our instructor is very experienced. She didn't go around helping those of us who are newbies, but luckily my friend was next to me so she helped me with a few difficult moves (for beginners). After the first 10 minutes, the instructor sped up and I found it a bit difficult to catch up since every move was new to me. I do yoga, zumba, and yogalates, and go to the gym, but aerial yoga is still a formidable challenge. Mostly it's the psychological hurdle that I have to overcome: the fear of being in the air. I've been going to classes at Om Factory for several years and would recommend them! Aerial yoga has greatly increased my strength and flexibility and is a wonderful compliment for weight training. It's amazing if you have a sore/tight back from work. I haven't noticed any smelly hammocks mentioned previously, since 2020 they are washed for every class. I also appreciate the thoughtful changes to safety protocols in light of health and safety changes. In terms of value for the money, Om Factory remains a great value for a specialized workout. Classes at comparable studios in Brooklyn run $50+ more per class, whereas Om Factory keep it affordably between $25-40 with even cheaper rates for package deals. I've taken single aerial hammock, yoga, and silk classes at other studios that *start* at $50. Another perk is that at some studios I have had to share a hammock (!!): that is not the case here (1 hammock/apparatus per person) and there's enough space to spread out while you work out. The classes are also long here! I feel like at some studios they rush you in and out in 45 minutes, here classes are 1 H to 1 H 15 minutes and they even give you time to snap a cute photo if you want to. Instructors are qualified and the location is very convenient/centralized to many trains. Recommended! read more

I really love Amanda's evening core class. She really tailors her teaching style to the different skill levels represented in the open level class. This was my first time doing an Aerial Yoga class and I felt very welcomed and accomodated. We were about five minutes late to the class because it was raining and difficult to catch a cab - my friend was in town and I was so worried we would not be able to participate. But our instructor was so absolutely sweet about the delay. I liked this class because I seek yoga for relaxation not for a tone or muscle work out. I felt challenged enough to learn about my body in new ways, but certainly left feeling focused. The content was thoroughly explained in a way which it was easy for a beginner to follow along. I loved the exposed brick in the building and the windows which we were able to see out of in the rear of the classroom. My only negative is that the silk for both my and my friend smelled like B.O. Unfortunately, it made us wonder in the back of the head how sanitary the silks were. Nonetheless, my experience certainly had me contemplating adding this class to my fitness rotation! read more

Very rude customer service: Firstly, they didn't send you a notification of the class has been cancelled. When I got to the studio, asked the front desk, the only response I received was: "oh I don't know!". (She also showed that she doesn't want to help at all.) so I asked "Will the payment be credit back to my account?" Her answer was "I can't tell you now!" I was like "so... should I wait?". Her answer was: "it's up to you, you can wait 30 mins here, or you can leave." If you were a customer, how would you feel?! read more

Extremely unprofessional studio. Cancels classes at the last minute without leaving a message, sending an email or cancelling through booking apps. When you arrive and try to be buzzed in they ignore you and leave you standing outside. They also don't pick up their phones. I had to call the actual building security who buzzed me in. Once I got up to the studio, the girl sitting at the desk informed me that she "didn't know anything and wasn't in charge". To get a refund I needed to email THEM even though they're the ones who cancelled at the last minute. Such a disappointment considering I sat on the train for over an hour to get here. Went here for a beginner's Aerial Yoga Class with three other friends and thought the experience was okay. I'm not normally a yoga person, but thought it would be so fun to try! Our instructor was clearly very knowledgeable and trained. She was great at explaining and teaching the basic aerial yoga moves, with modifications if you do not feel comfortable, but I didn't feel like she was particularly warm or friendly. She was very strict - which is just a certain style of teaching, but thought the instructor was a little pushy and stern if you were doing something wrong. I did appreciate her taking the time to walk around and correct everyone's form! She just happened to correct my form a lot, which was okay lol. It was fun to try something new - the exercises really stretch you out. The studio was small and stuffy - so I felt like the atmosphere could have been better. read more

I love yoga. I live and breathe it. It is one of the things that keeps me sane in this chaotic city. A few friends organized an Aerial yoga outing, so I decided to give it a try. I did try out Aerial yoga at Sacred Sounds and was hesitant to try it again. I'll explain why. For one, I think it is extremely difficult to teach an aerial class and have your students follow you without injuring themselves. If you haven't tried Aerial Yoga, it is basically a hammock hanging from the ceiling and you have to somehow get yourself into it in all different ways. I am a seasoned yogi and I know most of the basic postures, but I found the class difficult. I mean perhaps I have a learning disorder, but I had a hard time keeping up with the instructor. I also noticed that I constantly was looking around and also had my eyes peeled on the instructor. That makes it really hard to focus on my posture and poses. I am not really into following the crowd and trying to get into poses quickly, that is how you injure yourself. I prefer to slowly get into poses and to have proper alignment. After all, it is not a competition. Yoga is for your soul and mind. A time for you to relax and unwind. Our instructor was good and she was patient and really tried to help us, so no complaints there. I think perhaps I need to come more often and then maybe my brain will just get into the poses naturally, but for the first class, I was really struggling. I want to come back and try again. It is a challenge for me, so that's a plus. And besides, when I went home, parts of my body that never ached were throbbing. That's got to be a good thing right? read more

Went for an Aerial Yoga class. A unique and fun experience! I wasn't the only guy there, but the other guy who was there was wearing sparkly pink yoga pants and was REALLY GOOD (he's def been here many times) so........... ... ..... I went for Beginner's class, but it definitely helps if you've done other types of yoga before so you can recognize words like the WARRIOR. The teacher was kind and takes you through the steps at a good pace. Some of the moves are a bit hard though. It was funny watching some people in front of me struggle. But then when I tried it, I failed too. Yeahhhh so everyone (except the pros) looked pretty funny. The inversions (hanging upside down) were super fun. especially spinning around. Afterwards, they let you hang around (LITERALLY) for a lil bit if you want to take pictures to show your friends that you have a life and do some cool things. We took an inverted selfie! Dress: t shirt with yoga pants or tights. I borrowed my friend's tights (let's just assume it was underarmor) and wore shorts over it. get there like 10 to 15 minutes before so you can sign your waiver and get comfy in your hammocks. It was $22 which isn't too bad. I probably won't go regularly, but i wouldn't mind going back some time to try it again! read more

I took the bungee class in October and had fun, but I prefer the aerial fabric yoga class. The harness for the bungee is very uncomfortable, and some of the movements made me feel a bit dizzy and nauseous. I felt like a fish flopping on a line. Also, the instructor did not give tips on how to better control our bodies and the bungee. The instructor, however, gave us breaks off of the bungee to adjust our clothing and orientate ourselves. As a yoga amateur, I'm always on the search for new studios to test out and I knew I couldn't pass it up when the living social deal came out and I saw people doing yoga upside-down. This yoga studio has a reservation system for their classes which was a little confusing with the living social deal, but a quick phone call solved that problem. I have since taken two classes and have two very different experiences. I usually practice power vinyasa, so doing this type of yoga was a completely new experience for me. The instructor for my first class was extremely helpful during the entire practice, walking each of us through the poses and making sure we were performing everything safely. This restorative class was so relaxing I almost fell asleep in the final savasana pose. Overall, a new and fun experience. I couldn't but laugh out of excitement during a couple of the poses. Unfortunately, my second class was a very different experience. The instructor was a lot more rushed in her instructions and she wasn't as helpful. When I had trouble with one of the poses, she actually got impatient with me which almost ruined my entire experience. I also didn't feel as relaxed and stretched out as I did with the first class. My friend agreed the first class was better than the second. If you're looking for a new yoga experience, then I would definitely suggest this studio. However, if you've never done yoga, I would try most basic teachings first, just to get used to poses. Also, the pricing for the classes is a little high. I will definitely use the rest of my living social deal, but I probably won't continue with the full-priced classes. read more

This studio is absolutely wonderful! The location could not be easier to get to and the studio is clean and has good AC. As a beginner to aerial the instructors are not only knowledgeable and good at teaching, they are kind, supportive, and awesome cheerleaders. The classes are a fair price for the full 75 minutes of exercise you get! The classes are fun and fly by, but trust me you will feel it the next day. After level 1 aerial yoga, I felt sore in abs I didn't know I had they were so low! Bungee is a great core and leg workout with a good mix of cardio! As someone who has kind of iffy knees and wears knee braces for most cardio, bungee is rigorous while being low impact on your joints. My only warning is it's totally addictive, and you will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Only rewriting this to register my irritation with the woman on the phone, who regardless of her pull (or lack thereof), was rude and dismissive. They send an email offering you a free birthday class which can be used ONLY on your birthday. Well that would be all well and good but for the fact that Friday at Union Square, there is only fit to fly and lyra. No basic aerial yoga (level 1). If a place wants to hook beginners, it should make some attempt (either in tone, language, or action) to induce them to spend money. This is Manhattan. Many Equinox members will want to try aerial yoga and those members will like this location better than that Fashion District area. The Flatiron Equinox is very close to Om Factory which makes it a smart pairing. Smart, I take it, but not for the woman working the desk today. Because I am feeling especially charitable I won't call her out by name. But utterly obnoxious. If the OM Factory policy is set in stone, then the chick at the desk should say, "I'm really sorry. It can only be used on your birthday. I'm sorry we offer no beginning classes that day but no, you can't go to the Saturday aerial yoga 1." She says I could go to the FD location but HELLO, who the hell wants to do yoga on the Friday night of one's birthday. Shit, I like fitness a lot. But I am not a hermit with nothing else to do and no social life who is going to spend my Friday night at an aerial yoga class in the Fashion District when I live on the UES to begin with (which is why I chose the Union Square location). Grrr. I know a lot of people in the aerial yoga business. None of them practice here. They go to Bushwick with the pros. They have various objections. So I told my buddies how much I liked it and some were surprised. Well, I still think it's a beautiful space. But offering A free class on the birthday and giving people a three-day window (again, so as to encourage beginners to spend money on top of their 200 to 300 bucks a month at the Equinox) is what any company with half a brain would do. Hell, Sprinkles Cupcakes gives you a window of days to redeem your free birthday cupcake. Really irritating attitude. Namaste, indeed. Or as my favorite parody yoga hat has it: "Namaste mother******." read more

Here's the thing. I actually did enjoy the beginner Aerial Yoga class I took last night. Instructor was great, the positions were fun. It was very basic, however, and I'd probably move forward with more advanced classes. That said, and I hate to say this, but the hammocks smelled so BAD I am completely turned off. Having to gag through the class because all I could smell were armpits and feet (sorry but true) made it really unpleasant. Please give those hammocks a wash on the regular and I'll assume you'll continue to have a great customer base! read more

On my first visit to Om Factory Flight School I was honestly really unimpressed and thought about leaving the class several times because of the instructor. I felt like she was talking down to me the whole time which made me feel negative. Because of a mix up on Mind Body, I ended up in a level 2 class instead of a level 1 and I informed the instructor that it was my first time. She did give me extra attention but not necessarily the type I wanted. She went through the poses really quickly and of course I was just confused because I wasn't sure what to do so I just basically waited for her to come over to walk me through the poses after most of the more advanced people got into position. She said to me something along the lines of "this is the sequence we're doing so might as well do it instead of just standing there" which was very off putting for me because it made me feel like I wasn't even trying which was totally not the case. As she was walking me through mid sequence she started correcting one of her more experienced students and because I was mid sequence and I could not hold myself up anymore while waiting for her I ended up as a hot mess on the floor... I've done a beginners aerial yoga class elsewhere before and it was really great, it was a shame that Om factory did not produce that experience. I took the noon Aerial Yoga (Level 1 Foundations) with Angelina on Saturday and had a great time! I've been doing yoga for a quite some time but this was my first experience with aerial yoga and I loved it! The instructor was really attentive and informative. She was very helpful and conducted class at a nice pace for the beginners as well as the more advanced students. She coached and encouraged us through the inversions and was great about modifications and alternative poses if needed. Using the cloths enabled us to stretch and find poses that we otherwise couldn't and it felt great for my body to extend and challenge itself. I look forward to trying this again soon! read more

I got a Living Social deal for 10 classes at Om Factory and love it. Unfortunately, they don't have a student rate, so I won't be coming back here after my 10 classes are done because it's too expensive :-/ The Saturday afternoon Yoga Fight Club class is an amazing workout. It starts with fast-paced yoga flow, then you do kick-boxing for about 45 minutes, and then back to yoga. My body hurt for days after this class (but in a good way). The teacher, Andrea, was really awesome too and welcoming to people who have never kick-boxed before. I've also gone to a few different teachers for Vinyasa flow classes and liked all of them, especially Kate and Mike, who teach the Saturday class at 10:15am. The studio's beautiful and has a great view of Union Square. Everything's clean and the reception's friendly too. I'll miss it when my deal's over! read more

Aerial yoga should really be called monkey yoga and after your session you will be ready to swing for the trees! I have wrist, back and knee injury and this type yoga is the friendliest on all those joints. This would have been 5 stars if it wasn't so crowded otherwise this has been great. read more

I attended a private aerial class here in November for my birthday and it was amazing. I enjoyed the class being private. The environment was very clean and inviting. The instructor was informative and very sweet. We even learned a routine which was a nice plus. She helped us on more difficult moves and even took pictures/video of us. I did this as a one-time thing with my friend, and it was a so-so experience. First, we wanted to get the student discount because it would've been cheaper than the regular rate, which is actually pricey - unfortunately, they don't have an option for people to sign up online for the student rate, so we came in person to sign up instead. The girl at the desk told us that she could only take in one of us because the class was full, but we could be on standby depending on any latecomers (they have a really strict lateness policy) Sure enough, there was 1 latecomer who missed the class, and as bad as I felt that she couldn't get in, it also allowed my friend and I to take the class together. The class itself was fun, and challenging! Our instructor was very helpful, especially with someone as inexperienced as me, and helped me get into the right position when I was struggling. Needless to say, I came out of that class sweating bullets! Super fun class to go to with friends on a one-time basis, but definitely a luxury to incorporate this into your daily routine (it ain't cheap!) read more

The best studio in NYC for cirque and aerial yoga!

So far, I've only attended the Aerial Vinyasa: Foundation class. This was my first ever experience with aerial yoga. The teacher's cueing was very precise and helpful; I was able to follow his directions and practice the flow. For me personally the tricky part happened during the upside-down inversion, where I started feeling like I"m about to fall out of the hammock head-first. The teacher came up to me, spotted me and guided me how to flip back over and down. It was such a cool sensation: sort of like a mix of Iyengar and slow vinyasa. The studio was clean and peaceful; the changing room kind of small but very clean. There were a few lockers; it seemed like some people brought their own locks. You get the mat at the studio; everyone spray cleans it and hangs it up to dry when the practice is over. I am definitely coming back for more! read more

I showed up early to the 11am Saturday class for my first beginner's aerial class with Maisah. It was full, so I was wait-listed, but the receptionist assured me I'd likely be in! So she set me up, and sure enough, I was in. I was really nervous, but Maisah was encouraging and helpful - exactly the kind of instructor you'd want for your beginner-self. The hour-fifteen flew by, and it was pretty easy! Some had a more difficult time than others, but wherever you fell into the spectrum, it was a good time. In terms of a workout, it was really fun, but I didn't break a sweat. I can see it as an intense workout later in the more advanced classes. But this beginner's flight school was a great start. I'd love to go back, but it's a little too much for my wallet to make the commitment. 1. Definitely worth trying. 2. The fabric smelled a bit. 3. A little expensive. 4. The people were great. 5. My friend and I came in for a walk in class, we got there early at 3:00pm the lady at the desk young maybe about 19,20 anyways asked for our names, and then had us sign a liability slip, she asked if me and my friend had our high school or college ID that was odd but she said that students got a discount so we would have paid $18 in total for the two of us both instead of $36 we changed in the bathroom and took our shoes off, while we waited for our 4:00pm Aerial level 1 basic class I charged my phone. Our instructor was a guy named Kevin really helpful that class itself was amazing. We finished at 5:20pm and he said he teaches Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays and its smart to take 5 basic level 1 classes before going straight to a level 2 class. My friend pointed out that a 2 month membership was $75 not bad. read more

I have been to many open classes (all aerial) and found a new activity that I can't get enough of. Now that they are reopening I am planning a private group class with some friends who have never been and are of all different yoga levels. I just had my first aerial yoga class today, and it was great! I took the 4 PM Level 1 Foundations class with Kevin. The assistant instructor was very helpful. I'm not a flexible person and I have below-average upper body strength, so I struggled a bit, but they both helped me out a lot. I was surprised to be sweating a bit throughout the class. I was able to do most of the poses and I did, at one point, feel I was "one with the hammock," haha. The reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their lateness policy. Even though my friend paid for the class beforehand, she was not allowed to enter the class because she was 20 minutes late. I understand lateness might be disruptive, but I told one of the instructors beforehand that my friend will be coming in late. She set up a mat next to me so my friend would be able to come in and just join. It would not have been disruptive and we were not so advanced into the poses that she could not catch up. I thought it was unfair. When I asked if she can just come to a class next week since we already paid, they refused. She also said it is unfair to come late because another student could have signed up for the class but missed the opportunity because of my friend. I honestly think that's a bad reason because every time someone signs up for a class, they are giving other people less of an opportunity to sign up. It's not unique to lateness. That's life. If you buy an apple at a grocery shop, you are taking the opportunity away from someone to purchase that apple. If I don't eat the apple, that's no one's business. When you get hired for a job, you just took that opportunity away from someone who could have been hired. This is just a method of thinking that is not practical. Whether or not another student can sign up is not my concern. If I paid for the class, I should be allowed to participate, even if I am late, or issued a voucher. For this reason, I give Om Factory 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Want to love this place as I love the whole aerial thing. However... Yoga and aerial seems like a great combo but in reality youre just doing some stretching in a stinky hammock that reminded me of someone's dirty gym socks. I have found using the fabric as a support to help during yoga is not really much of a workout.. Tried a few classes of aerial vinyasa so far and no soreness after.. I want to feel the pain! Matt's classes were the only ones I truly enjoyed. You can tell he is very passionate about his work. read more
