The women's locker room is always tidy, the indoor pool is clear and doesn't smell like mold, the outdoor pool is like a spa. I love the layout of the fitness floor and how open it is. Yes it gets crowded but you should expect that at any gym during certain times. What really gets 5 starts though is the kids academy. The whole staff there is really awesome. They take care of kids like their own. I feel safe and confident leaving my little ones there while I exercise.

It left me wondering whether this type of behavior is addressed or tolerated by the company. Employees represent the organizations they work for, and conduct like this reflects poorly on the brand. It raises concerns about the professionalism, and standards of the gym. It also makes me wonder...if somone is comfortable publicy criticizing local businesses, how are members treated if they have a disagreement or decide to cancel their membership after a year or two? That uncertainly alone would make me think twice. Based on what I've seen, I would not feel comfortable becoming a member and would not recommend it.

They also offer child supervision in a large play room which is good for those with kids - so no excuses for you stay at home mom's and couch potato dad's. The place is three floors. The locker rooms are on the second floor along with a spin class room. Half way up is another room. It's under utilized at the moment but I guess it could be used for stretching or other calisthenics. Then up on the third floor is the main gym. Has a good variety of free weights, machines, and cardio. There is a cardio movie room which is sweet , they Change the movie every day and the the movies do get recycled but it seems long enough before you get bored. Recently they played Grown Ups, fast and furious (the latest one), and the internship. The dumbbells go up to 115+ which is great and there are many flat and interchangeable benches. Some machines they are missing are the standing leg curl and hack squat. Seems to be commonly absent especially since a lot of people skip leg day. The general upkeep is good. I've rarely ever seen machine broken for longer than one day, but the supplies in the locker room like hand soap tends to always be empty. I'd say about 20% of the time there was actually soap in the dispenser (this is way I can't give it 5 stars. That and the three floors set up is a bit awkward).

At Strength and Honor Fitness, it will make you drool, sweat in places that you didn't know can sweat, AND just as a caution, you probably don't want to eat an hour before coming for a session here or else you might find your meal beautifully displayed on the ground. This is the perfect gym to kick your butt into shape! I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I wonder why I put myself through, the gym owner and instructor, Matt Keller's ever creative personal hell... But when the results begin to show, I know it's all worth it to suck up the pain, so I won't have to suck it in later when I'm wearing that gorgeous dress! I say, give it a try. I ended my routine tonight with some time on a rowing machine. This location seemed cleaner that the Planet Fitness I frequent most often. The staff was busy but I got a greeting on the way in and an adios on the way out. If I lived closer I would not mind coming here more often. I would have given 5 stars but the shower pressure was not great. Also after a few minutes the hot water went warm for a couple of minutes before getting hot again.

So honestly...place just keeps on getting worse…read more I'm still expected to wipe down machines, but as paper towel dispensers break they're just being removed...and paper towels left, on a roll, on top of a garbage can. So no easy way to cut/rip, while trying to balance the spray bottle and whatever else I'm carrying around with me. Nice touch not painting the area behind them either so there's just big white spots with anchors sticking out of them. Really contributes to making this gym feel like the cheap gym it is. Other PFs are getting new equipment: free weights, hacksquats etc (and putting it in the literally never used for it's purpose 30 minute room)...and we can't even get functional paper towel dispensers? Add to that the sheer and utter "dont give a crap" attitude of the folks who work there - today there was a dude, literally, working out shirtless. Leaving his sweat on every machine and not wiping anything down. I asked the staff to please at least get him to wipe shit down - naw, he's a regular, he can do that. Might as well take down the damn dress code sign and leave the nails it's attached with exposed, you know, in keeping with your chosen motif. I'm going to be departing very shortly for a gym that actually seems to care about what it's doing and isn't just rolling with whatever comes down the pike. At this point even the stinky retro around the corner appears to be a better option.

There wasn't anyone at the desk for 25 minutes because the lady that was supposed to help me check in was actively working out in what I assume was the 5am class. Once she finally arrived at the desk and I was sitting right in front of her, she barely acknowledged me. I walked up to the desk and she just told me to write my name down. I told her it was my first time there and she pointed in different directions to quickly explain where the amenities. Unfortunately, there was minimal effort to help someone attending their first class at this studio. Additionally, I had a simple email issue that their help desk needed to resolve so I could finally book my additional classes. Ultimately, I had to call multiple times and ask for the reference number of the ticket so I could resolve the issue myself. I'll give 2 stars because the coaches I've experienced (Amy, Becca, Brett, and Brendan) all had great classes. I was hoping for the best, but I will not be returning to OTF somerville.
