Not only is it sad that he does not know for sure, since he did put me on hold for 5 minutes to find out the price which he is supposed to know, but it is also sad and unphathomable that someone would pay "roughly" $135 a month to workout at a gym for only a month, when so many others are more 60% cheaper for the same month-to-month contract with the same amenities. In all seriousness, I just think he got upset at me because I would not commit to a yearly membership on the phone without first setting foot inside the gym. He seemed like he was intentionally trying to get me NOT to sign up for whatever reason, so the price he gave probably was not the real price, but an extremely bloated amount. Regardless, the customer service at this place, solely due to Gideon, is atrocious!

Since then, however, I've had the pleasure of watching my mom build this gym -- its identity and its community -- into something much larger and more important than just "a building where people do fitness." Today, CrossFit Kryptonite is unlike all the other CrossFit gyms I've visited, dropped in at and even worked at. My mom has built it and turned it into a truly unique, supportive place with many expert coaches on staff who share her passion for changing lives. I've personally witnessed many transformative stories -- people of all ages and from various walks of life who have lost weight, improved their health, gotten stronger, gained self-esteem, and found lasting friendship. As my mom's daughter, I've also been in the unique position to witness all the hard work my mom does behind the scenes. Beyond the day-to-day administrative work, she is always looking for new ways to improve her knowledge as a coach and enhance the membership experience. Examples include: taking additional fitness certifications; planning fun, social events outside the gym; planning events to raise money for local or charitable causes; partnering with other community venues like the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum to participate in annual fitness events; partnering with other local gyms for members to enjoy friendly competition; navigating uncertainties like the COVID-19 pandemic; organizing official CrossFit events like the annual Open. The list goes on. On a more personal note, being part of the CrossFit Kryptonite community since its infancy motivated me to pursue health and fitness more seriously in my own life. I prioritized living more healthily in how I move and in what I eat. I was also inspired to become a coach myself so that I could help others on their own fitness journeys. I received my Level 1, and even after moving outside of Long Island for a few years, the first thing I did (besides finding a place to live) was find a CrossFit gym to train and coach at. To sum it all up, CrossFit Kryptonite is truly a labor of love, and its specialness is incomparable, palpable, and contagious. If you're reading this and are wondering whether "CrossFit" is right for you, I assure you it's so much more than whatever preconceived reputation it has gained in popular culture. They have really stepped up their game since the lockdown. When they opened up, the entire thing had been redone, cleaned and re-organized. This is a cute local yoga center. It is clearly visited by regulars and locals. It is an easy…read moredrop in studio. The people seem nice. However I visited two times. I can't review the actual instruction quality because to be fair, each experience is personal and it is really a reflection of your own ability to participate and your expectations. But I have to say as a small older building my first time was in the summer and the air conditioner was turned on or up at the beginning of the session not leaving enough time to acclimate the room before we started and there was a gym odor in the warm room most of the time during the class so I felt as if it was not particularly conducive to a calming yoga experience where sound and smell are an important part. My second visit in the fall the room was cool and comfortable but it was a more intense combo class so attendees did work up a sweat and the room became humid and again, it was not a pleasant environment. Maybe they should have turned on a fan to stir the air. This is my pet peeve that gyms or exercise facilities should smell as though it is cleaned regularly which includes washing the equipment regularly and wiping down surfaces used by customers. I do bring my own matt and blocks and bands where I can rather than complain but weights are needed in some of their classes and you have no choice to use them. All in all, they have been there for quite some time because they are convenient and familiar and I might return for those reasons. Last word, the instructors were nice and supportive.

Coaches and gym members were all so helpful and welcoming which helped to calm my nerves since this experience was like none other that I have tried. Within 9 months I have shed 10 pounds of fat (in the first 2 months) and gained it all back in muscle. These classes are extreme and intense, but I started at a pace that worked for me and built up endurance over time.
