Overall they are great. Getting my sunglasses has taken over 2 months now, though. My first appointment with them was last year. This year I went back to them for my annual check. Doctor and tech were great. Picked out some glasses that were paid for by my insurance. I looked into what it would cost for new sunglasses but it was too much (out of pocket for me) so I elected to get new lenses for the sunglasses that I got from them last year. 2 weeks later I got a call that both the new glasses and the sunglasses lenses were ready. Went in and the glasses were great but the sunglass lenses were definitely not the right size for my frames (even though they had the info for the correct frames). 3 weeks later the new lenses finally arrive. They left a voicemail that told me this and that I should make an appointment but that I could also wait for the lenses to be ready. I was not told that I could only get these lenses put into my frames Tues - Thurs (the person that can cut the lenses to size is only there on these days) so, since I was off on Friday, I went in. I was then told that that was why they said I needed an appointment (but skipped over the part where they also said I could wait). So, I made an appointment for the following Tuesday. On Tuesday I went in for my appointment, gave them the frames and told them I would wait (they told me 30 to 45 minutes). 45 minutes later they brought out my sunglasses with the new lenses. I was then told that the lenses have some scratches around the edges and they were going to order new lenses again so I can have "perfect" lenses. They will call and then I will have to go through this process all over again. If the timeframe is the same as it was for the lenses I currently have, it will be at least 3 weeks before I get the final (hopefully) lenses. If that is the case, it will have taken 2.5 months just to get lenses. Each time I went in to get my lenses, I was given a token apology that never seemed sincere. In fact, one of them apologized in a way that made it sound like they were apologizing for me making a mistake (for not making an appointment as they suggested even though I was given the option to wait and never told why I needed an appointment). I know mistakes happen but they aren't even trying to make it up to me in anyway (like offering any sort of refund since they made the mistake a couple of times now). I am definitely frustrated and will consider changing providers next year. read more

My wife and I were both hurried through the exam, by far the fastest eye exam we've encountered. Both sets of eyeglasses needed to be returned. My left lens was unusable while the near vision prescription in my wife's eyeglasses was inaccurate. It's the first time in 50 years of wearing glasses that I needed to return a pair. read more

My entire appt. was just like I remembered when the doctors took their time to consider what kind of care gave. My experience was great! Dr. McAllister ordered a contact that was altered a bit to float on my eye in the correct spot. I can read again with my contacts! They worked with my insurance in a way that benefitted me also. My follow up was great and after having to wait a year to actually be fitted properly, I would recommend Powers Eye Center and Dr. McAllister as an excellent experience! I took my family to do the routine eye exams at this clinic. The receptionists were nice and polite. Immediately upon arriving the receptionists gave us the paperwork to complete and passed us to do the eye pre-test. After that, each of us were send to a separate test room to wait for the doctor. Dr. Neil McAllister was very polite and took the time to explain everything. He was also very very patient with my toddler daughter, and I really appreciated that gesture. He also took the time to do one of the pre-test for my husband since the employee can not get it done right. Maybe the employee was new. The clinic facilities are modern and clean. read more

Every interaction with the staff was excellent! I was greeted right away by Shirley who checked me in and shortly brought me back for an eye exam. She was warm and friendly and very good at her job! Dr Waggoner was also great, taking the time to listen to my concerns and recommending alternative treatments rather than medications. I felt heard and had all of my questions answered! Powers Eye Center is definitely 5 stars! Dr. McAllister and his staff are friendly, patient and very professional. Dr. McAllister provided me with contacts and after a few days I wanted to make some adjustment to my near vision. He had me come back in and try several different options to make my vision the best it can be. He was very patient and explained the different options in a way that was easy for me to make a decision on what was best for me. I opted for the mono vision option. I never felt rushed and in fact it was just the opposite. Dr. McAllister and his staff wanted to make sure I was comfortable with my contact choice. I have been to many optometrist over the years for routine checkups and eyewear, however I have never experienced better service and eye care than at Powers Eye Center. 100% recommend them. My new patient appointment October 4, 2021 with Powers Eyecare Center went very well. I had a very short wait and the exam process was quick and efficient. I was then showed a large variety of glassware and after picking out the pair I wanted I was told that it takes 7-14 days for the new eyewear to be ready which was to be expected. On October 15, 2021 I decided to go back in to check on some other glass wear to possibly have as an extra pair to keep in the car. I decided that while I was there I would check on my new glasses. The administrative assistant at the desk went to check on the new glasses and then bought them back in to me. I asked her why no one had called me and let me know they were ready to be picked up she said she didn't know. I tried the glasses on and then tried to read a pamphlet on the counter. I informed her that the prescription wasn't correct and that the words were still blurry and that the smaller words were impossible to read. She replied without even looking at the glasses or having the prescription checked that they were correct and that I would need to wear the glasses and adjust to them. She said that I had 30 days to decide if they were correct or not and to take them home and adjust to them. I was getting upset because she was telling me that the prescription was correct and that my eyes needed to adjust to the prescription. I decided to leave and take the glasses home for the weekend and wear them. I returned Monday October 18, 2021 and then inform the lady at the counter I tried her suggestion and wore the glasses for the weekend and they still didn't improve my vision was still blurry and they didn't work. She was still reluctant to do anything and when I asked her if one the vision staff had 5 minutes to see me and get this corrected so that I could have the correct prescription in my new glassware so it would be beneficial for me. She said no but I have openings for tomorrow. I said no if your organization doesn't have time to fix their problem than I have no time for them. I then placed the glasses on their desk and told her that they could put them anywhere the wanted too and that I didn't need a pair of glasses that were incorrectly made. Because of their lack of service and attitude I wouldn't recommend Powers Eyewear Center as your go to place for eye care. read more

Every time I go to Powers Eye Center, I'm struck by how incredibly friendly, helpful and caring the staff is. From the front desk to the optometrist, you're warmly greeted, listened to and cared for. I think a lot of businesses have forgotten the art of caring about the customer--not this group! I had a lot of questions--they were all answered. I had concerns about switching from glasses to contacts after 20 years--my worries were addressed with patience and a smile. I personally saw Dr. McLachlin and she was fantastic! My dad and husband and I all got glasses here. My dad and I couldn't wear our glasses because they didn't work. I just went to another eye care center and they told me my stigmatism was 20 degrees off. Also the front staff was rude to me when I asked to get my glasses changed. I won't ever go back. read more

I've been seeing Dr. McAllister for years now. I saw him years ago and then he moved and I didn't know where he went and found him again at Powers Eye Center. I was able to get a very quick appointment when I called. The eye care specialist who did all my pre-testing before my appointment was very kind, courteous and professional. She provided great customer care. Dr. McAllister is very friendly, professional and thorough. I feel he explains everything very easily to me and answers all my questions. My husband has been a satisfied customer of Powers Eye Center for over four years, so when I needed a pair of prescription glasses, I knew where I wanted to go. I made an appointment, had a pleasant eye exam with the friendly staff, and was assured that I would receive my glasses in 2 weeks. After waiting 11 day's I decided to call for an ETA on my glasses. I was told that the original lenses had a defect and needed to be replaced and that I would not get my glasses for another week. At this point, I was becoming frustrated, I had just started on-line classes and needed my lenses, but there was not much I could do so I waited patiently. At the end of the week, I received a call from one of the office staff telling me that they had no ETA on when I would receive my glasses and asked if I wanted a refund. At this point I was upset, I spent $600, waited close to a month only to be told that they did not know when I would receive my glasses. Upon agreeing to the refund, I was told that I would have to wait until Monday and pay a restocking fee. After being told I would be responsible for a restocking fee, I became exasperated. I told the employee I was not paying a fee, and I would be in Monday morning with my Credit Card to get my refund. After about 5 minutes I received a call from Karl with the Powers Eye Center. He advised me that I could receive my refund over the phone because SEVERAL of the office staff felt "threatened" by me and that he is going to call the police. I was upset and confused because I made no threats, used no profanity, and was at my home some 20 miles away. I am simply a disappointed customer. Disgusted by Karl's comment, I told him I would have my Caucasian husband take care of the refund, so he and his staff would no longer have to agonize over their feeling "Threatened" by my dark complexion and ethnic name. If you are a person of color, I would think twice before considering Powers Eye Center. read more

I had been seeing commercials regarding digital eye exams as being much more comprehensive than the traditional methods being used in office. I know I need corrective wear and to be honest the last year has been the most I had personally strived to wear glasses about 40% of the time meh :/ I chose not to keep them on due to what felt like straining, so when the digital mapping advertisements popped on I came to my "aha," moment until that is I found out the corporate chain was linked to an office in Denver. UHMMM no thanks. So today fresh with my FSA card my "aha," moment starts creeping into my google fingers where I search; Digital eye exam colorado springs..."Aha," Powers eye center... This website was brimming with the juicy details of what I had been fascinated with; The digital eye exam. The online booking tool (a plus) showed plenty of avail. AND they accepted my eye insurance as well as plenty of other ins. I noticed. They had avail. for as soon as tomorrow but I had to strive for today and so I called... I was greeted by a friendly office staff member whom put me in same day. I completed the downloadable form to minimize the grueling task of sit write and wait. I showed up, signed off on a few other routine docs. and was taken back for the prelim. eye tests as well as the famous digital eye scan(a few nominal out of pocket not covered by ins. bucks).From there I was in the exam room where I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. McAllister, whom with due to the graces of technology advances performed my minimally invasive lens comparison procedure. We spent more time looking at the digital scope of my lovely eyeballs and I learned a few facts. I suggest and hope he reads this; get a patient portal setup so patients can view the images and as an added incentive, share good word of mouth this way. After the eye exam l was directed to gather some frames I liked. She sat me down and captured digital photos of me wearing my selections then proceeded to educate me on the "Sizing matters," factor. The lens ordering and payment process went smoothly. Overall I loved this place. The office staff members added a touch of class to my exam & shopping experience. The digital method of an eye examination should be standard procedure, it really means an accurate prescription, Turn my 40% to an 80%...:) Highly reccomended facility. read more
