I've been struggling to find an eye doctor that could figure out what was wrong with my vision. They ask about concussions and said it was most likely related. Dr. Bettner finally admitted I have an astigmatism and would add a prism to my lenses. Fast forward two days later I get a call from a retinal specialist to schedule my appointment?!?! I called the office over and over with no response. At what point do you refer someone without even telling me he was concerned. Dr. Bettner never called but an assistant did to apologize for him. Go literally anywhere else. I received a text message from Bettner letting me know I was due for my annual eye exam. Not coming up, not consider scheduling but DUE. I made the appointment per the text for a couple of weeks later. I finish the appointment and am looking at frames for my glasses when the young lady from the desk approaches me and says that my insurance annual exam wont be covered because I am 2 days early for my insurance to cover it. I said wait, you messaged me and told me that I was DUE. She said someone made a mistake and they would reach out to me later in the day. Nobody called. Shocker. The following week I reached out they explained I would be expected to pay out of pocket. Hahahahahahahaha - No. In no universe do you tell me I am due for something and then say you made a mistake and send me a huge bill. The young lady I spoke to said a manager would call back. Nobody has called back. Shocker again. Do not do business here. Aside from the lack of ethics they get so concerned with taking your money as close to the 1 year date as humanly possible they miss everything else. After this I am filing a complaint with DORA (Department of Regulatory Affairs) against Dr. Bettner's license as well as the State of Colorado for a violation of the surprise billing law. Go literally anywhere else. The level of professionalism is absolutely abysmal and they should be embarrassed. But they aren't which is the worst part of all. Run, don't walk away. read more

We have been going to Bettner for many years and the service was good. But our last visit was not good and they made no effort to correct the problem. The front desk was rude and would not let me speak to the Dr about the problem. They simply said I would need to make another appointment and pay again for another examIne. Very frustrating! I had to return 5 times over 4 months to get a pair of computer glasses and a pair of multifocal glasses. I could not trust quoted prices for services as even after being assured that what I paid in addition to insurance was Pre Paid In Full, I am still getting billings from them for services I did not receive. Rx for computer glasses had to be redone because it was wrong distance from screen. I've had much better service at Pikes Peak Eye Care and will only use them in the future. Only reason I tried Bettner was on my doctor's recommendation. Office staff is nice but follow through is screwed up at Bettner. read more

I want to take a moment of my time to express how much I was impressed with Bettner Vision. I had heard a radio commercial that had a good feel to it and being in the market for a good pair of prescription sunglasses and actively seeking another optometry shop I decided to give Bettner a visit. I am sure glad I did. Bettner will be my go to for all my glasses from now on. All the persons I came in contact with were very professional. I worked directly with several individuals and all were a pleasure throughout the entire process, from my first phone contact to my pick up & fitting. A special thanks to Caitlin for her grace and patience while I made my selection. I believe she guided me to a perfect final outcome. I am thoroughly impressed with my new Maui Jim's! I've been going to Bettner Vision for several years. I believe they have excellent doctors and even with recent employee turnover, as a whole, they still have a good staff. My problem is this: If I'm paying top of the line pricing for glasses, (If I remember correctly my sunglasses were approximately $850-$900), I don't expect to get surprise bills. Around 3 months ago I had an eye exam at Bettner. I have AARP insurance as well as the best supplement you can get. (Due to macular degeneration in my eyes, I have received eye exams and shots in my eye every 6 weeks for years from a myriad of Doctors and optometrists here and in Denver, and I have never had to pay a co-pay or any additional fees.) This week I received a bill from Bettner for $40 for a refractive fee (evidently part of the eye exam.) At the time of my exam there was no mention of this cost or I would've paid it at that time. Other eye exams required no additional fees and it came as a surprise to me. I no longer make as much money as I used to and surprise 3 month old bills are not welcome. I called to question the bill during normal business hours, and got a recording that they would call me back. That didn't help my mood. Lol Evidently their time was a higher priority than my time. The young lady who called me back the next day wasn't rude but certainly wasn't understanding why i was questioning a bill that was months old that I never knew about in the first place. I will send them their $40 but probably won't be back. Between their high prices, the declining service, and the surprise bills, I'll have to find someone else. It's sad to me because I liked the doctors and their long time receptionist is the best. read more

I would consider going back if everyone in there wasn't a salesman. Every single person I came across- front desk, person leading me to exam room, doctor, lady helping me choose a pair of glasses, & someone I didn't notice until the end of my appointment- tried selling me. On contacts, upgrading the eyeglass wear, everything. All very pushy, explaining to me that insurance would take care of it, all I had to do was sit for a contact exam. I wanted a simple eye exam. Can't say anything negative at all about Dr. Bettner and his staff. He is very knowledgeable, his staff is friendly, and the office is very clean and professional. When you have any sort of eye condition I recommend coming to Dr. Bettner. My daughter was about 5 and had some redness and swelling to her eye lid and I didn't hesitate to take her here. I've been going to Bettner Vision for almost 15 years now. My kids have all gone there and I recently needed to address some near-sited issues due to aging. I have always loved this office and the front staff were always friendly, until now. Not sure what happened but the front staff are completely disorganized and customer service is terrible. Let me provide you a high-level summary. I was prescribed contacts for the first time which they sent me home with to try on and see if I liked. They didn't work for me so about 1-2 weeks after my initial appointment, I called and asked if I could come back or just have the doctor prescribe some new ones since the two different kinds weren't solving the problem. I was told I'd have to come back in but that I'd have to wait over 8 weeks to be seen again. For a follow-up!? I explained the situation and she replied that this was the earliest time they could see me. So I made the appointment and finally went in last week at which time, they prescribed some new ones. Granted, I never saw the doctor. I saw maybe his nurse practitioner? Not sure, but whomever she was, she was very impersonal and she acted as if I was waisting her time. Anyway, she gave me a new set to try and I took it home and tried it on only to discover that my vision was worse. So once again I called back and asked to be seen for my third follow-up. They offered me an 8am appointment at which time I told them I'd have to leave no later than 8:40am as I had a meeting I needed to attend at 9am. They assured me it would be no problem. That was this morning. After waiting more than 40 minutes, without being seen by the doctor, and waiting for his recommendation of next steps, I left and rushed to make my 9am meeting. I then called around noon to ask if I could just pick up the new prescription or speak with someone about next steps but never even received a call back! This is horrible service and although I like Dr. Bettner himself, I will be looking for a new doctor immediately. read more

We are so grateful to have found Dr Bettner. I have now brought three of my kids to him, from age 12 to age six. He has set a new standard for pediatric eye care on my experience, because of his patient, kind and friendly approach. The clincher is that while his manner brings relaxation and puts the patient at ease, he maintains efficiency and expediency. You won't be left waiting or wasting time. Love a Saturday appointment, they had a little lounge area that my 5 year old sat in and watched Batman, soooo many brands for glasses and had 2 of the women helping me with suggestions. Didn't have to dilate my eyes, just took retinal scans? Photos? No puff of air in the eye (yay). Dr. Bettner was quick and efficient with the overall exam, offered so many options ie. Lasik, contacts, daily's, glasses, prescription sunglasses, without being pushy or salesy AT ALL. It was so nice. Picked out a few different frames, finally decided on Ray-Bans which were only about $100 after insurance (bonus), and then Caitlin sat down and showed me how to use contacts in I swear less than 10 minutes. I hate being sold $500 frames, but I also hate being subjected to the cheap section with the less than desirable frames. Bettner had Tiffany's, ToryBurch, Tom Ford, countless others and some really awesome affordable brands as well. Call ahead for an appointment so you get the most of your visit, but DEFINITELY recommend seeing them.... (Seeing them...ha. Optical joke). read more

I chose Bettner Vision among a long list the VA gave me because of their 5 star rating. From the moment I walked in and through the whole process, it was clear why they have earned their 5 star rating. As a bonus, they are only 5 minutes away from my house. Bethany held my top 3 choices for me to go home and discuss/show my wife to help make a final decision. will not use bettner vision again. after five trips to bettner and four trips to costco for three different prescriptions i still see better with my three year-old prescription glasses. my first exam was with dr tobler. he tested for cataracts and found that my left eye was worse than my right eye. took his prescription and had new glasses made which resulted no better vision. returned to bettner vision and had prescription adjusted. had new lenses made that resulted in no improvement. dr bettner did another more extensive exam and indicated that no prescription would give me really sharp vision due to the cataracts. if dr tobler had indicated this in my first visit i would have consulted a cataract surgeon and forgone new glasses. would have saved me time and money. one good positive about bettner vision is that all employees were very friendly. just wish i had been given better advice on that first visit. read more

Bettner Vision lacks significant customer service standards and business ethics that one hopes for when dealing with eye glasses. I've gone to Bettner Vision for my eye care needs for the last ten years, but throughout this past year, I've had major problems getting a simple prescription pair of sunglasses. Initially, Dr. Christopher Bettner agreed to comp the pair of sunglasses due to my mistreatment by the staff and all of the drawn-out issues with fitting the bad pair of glasses. However, when I went to collect the money for my "comped" pair of glasses, the office manager, James Martinez, refused and said that wasn't going to happen. Mr. Martinez continued to yell at me and accused me of blindsiding and cornering Dr. Bettner into comping my glasses. Following this ordeal, Dr. Bettner changed his story, saying he wasn't allowed to promise comping the glasses, but assured me that if I turn them in, I would get a full refund. I followed through on my end, turning in the pair of sunglasses, only to have Mr. Martinez refuse to provide a check for the refund, instead claiming the manufacturer would have to do something, etc, etc. I have yet to receive my refund of $375 which was promised by Dr. Bettner upon return of the sunglasses. Clearly, in my opinion, this company is disingenuous, lacks basic communication, loyalty, honesty, and integrity while providing subpar glasses. I highly recommend going to a different provider for your eye care needs; one where business is conducted properly and customers are treated with respect. read more
